1967 Nova - Reher Morrison 583 Engine - Xtreme Raceway Park 3/27/2022 - Testing

- Swapped out the 540 Engine we use to run the 5.80 index with the Reher Morrison 583 (out of Camaro) with the intent of running the 5.0 index some this year.
Made multiple motor plates during off season to allow for quicker engine swaps. This way don't have to swap over all of the accessories. The 540 is sitting complete ready to swap back in short order.
Nothing looks better than a tube chassis 66 or 67 nova! I hope to own one someday. Nice ride man! 👍

I was just going to say it sounded like you were running into a limiter! Nice job for the first time out! Big dyno numbers might look impressive for a internet post! But engines that accelerate awesome, like all Reher engines do! Win races! That engine will do that same hit hundreds & hundreds of times! I've even seen their stuff with over a thousand passes & the owner was wondering if he should have it freshened 🙄🙄🙄🙄! It was still running perfectly, I said it should go back for updates! I know the guy wasn't big on maintaining his stuff! As the engine was at least 10yrs old, probably closer to 13! Engine advancements change a lot in only 5! If your 540 is old, I would send it in for updates! Cylinder Heads & camshafts have come a long way in recent years! I don't think it will make 580cuin power easily! They build a truck pull 535 that makes close to 580in power, & it has to work way harder in its application, it has to be reliable [Wide open pulling for up to 15 seconds!] & Has some expensive parts in it, but I'm sure they could make the 540 close to what your 580 is! Especially if it is already a Super series engine, which I believe your 580in engine is? I believe you will do very well this season!
Brian, You're right on. Reher Morrison's engines are so consistent and reliable. Have no regets about going that route a few years ago. Their shop is only 30 minutes from me which is a bonus. Thank you for watching a commenting!

Nova is 500 lbs lighter so it picked up almost a half second over same RM 583 engine in Camaro.
