@@inquisitivemind007 Quizzy, come on, you know better than that. The Prophet ascending to heaven is a miracle. History in the West is determined by probability. Western historians do not consider miracles when deciding what happened in the past because miracles are by DEFINITION, the least probable occurrences. I do not make a HISTORICAL argument that the Prophet ascended into heaven; it is based upon conviction in his truthfulness. But revisionists who peddle the Petra theory ARE making a historical argument. A historical argument that, like your so-called "Inquisitive Mind," is total garbage. Finally, I do not deny that Solomon's Temple was built at that spot. ??? Come one Quizzy, get with the program. This is embarrassing.

My favorite thing about these talks is how curious you are Derek! It's very very refreshing to see someone who is curious and whose main agenda is to figure out what the hell happened before trying to ask why. You never ask what it signifies about "us being better" (or about "them being worse"). You have a very non judgemental curiosity about these topics and I really resonate with that.

Arabs couldn’t have staged a conquest in the pre-Islamic times because they were never before that united or governed by a single entity, they were tribal. Arabia was chaotic. Islam was what stabilised it, unified it, got rid of atrocious acts like burying baby girls which many tribes did etc. and then the Muslims after unifying Arabia for the 1st time in history, freed the holy land.

    1) Dan Gibsons claim on the qibla directiobs. In this case is there any academic research which contradicts the data found by DG?
    2) Otherwise, an explanation needs to be found why all early qiblas point in direction if Mecca. D. • @amanpalestina9664
      @amanpalestina9664 Год назад +1

I'll try _(insya Allah)_ : Quran is *FORMIDABLY* preserved through the tradition.
The host (Derek) don't ask for an Explanation. Just a SIMPLE Yes or No.
Allow me to explain then : Quran or any other writing of that period and region were ONLY written on Parchment, Scroll etc etc, here and there. There is NO paper technology from China yet to mass preserved it until the earliest is in the 10th-Century (Paper). The ONLY available METHOD of preservation is through a *RECITATION* (Hafazan in Arabic) from memory or as what Dr. Anthony referred it as TRADITIONS. Its practiced through the 5X prayer a day, at least.
Quran is in Quranic-Arabic. The sister language of Hebrew, Aramaic, Syriac etc etc. THE MAJOR criteria of the Semitic Language is the GRAMMAR and in writing they use the ABJAD (sort of Alphabet) *WITH NO VOWEL* having a ROOT ABJAD (at least 3) for Adjective, Pronoun etc etc. The Syntax is also different form normal language. English and French only have 6 Pronouns but they has 12, complete with gender. *DUAL* pronoun ONLY existed in the Semitic language.
The MOST Amazing Thing about the Semitic Language is that *THEY ONLY HAVE LESS THAN 500 ROOT-WORDS*, taking advantage of the pronouns to make it a HUGE Library of Vocabulary.
The Thai Language has the most root-words, more than 200,000.
*WITH LESS THAN 500 ROOT WORDS THATS ADVANTAGOEUS TO BE MEMORISED*
Earliest Torah is mostly in Greek Kone (except for the Dead Sea Scroll) and its difficult to retraced it back.
As for Bible, unfortunately we don't have the Original, in Aramaic.
The present Arab or Jew and Bani Israel etc were practicing the respective Literature and Spoken Language, NOT the ORIGINAL or as what they called as Classical Arabic and Classical Hebrew.
*THEY WERE TIED BACK THROUGH THE ABJAD, ROOT-WORD, GRAMMAR* etc.
As for Quran THEY HAVE THE *TAJWEED* or proper pronunciation, enunciation, and the application of specific rules to ensure the accurate preservation.
To further strengthen it they have the RASM (Official) Uthamniah for CONSISTENCY.
I hope I have explained to the best of my ability.
      Take care

@azmisalleh6465 Hi, yes we have some common beliefs as in monotheism and in heaven sent prophets, charity and kindness, hospitality between neighbours. "Love thy neighbour as thyself."
Jesus' non violent response to colonial oppression inspired Ghandi and Martin Luther King to adopt peaceful resistance and intellectual polemic as tools for justice and peace on earth.
All three were assassinated. President JFK tried to live by those commandments. He too was assassinated, and his brother too.
Yes, Jesus was really crucified and died. The historians wrote about it and his followers confirmed it.
I do believe Jesus was crucified and died. I believe in the resurrection. If your Prophet could ascend to heaven while still alive, how much more logical that our Prophet could ascend to heaven after death. I believe his spirit took physical form when he appeared to the apostles. Paul had no believe, but was so moved by the stories he heard that he was filled with guilt. He heard Jesus voice on the way to Damascus, he lost his sight and eventually converted. It is possible Jesus' body was removed from the tomb by his relative Rabbi Joseph of Aramathia. Jesus had two important religious relatives, both Rabbis and John the Baptist was his cousin.
I watched the Chosen video series, very good fyi.

Mohamed tomb is a historical site that refers to the final resting place of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), the founder of Islam. The tomb, known as the Prophet's Mosque or Al-Masjid an-Nabawi, is located in the city of Medina, Saudi Arabia.
The Prophet's Mosque is one of the holiest sites in Islam, and it holds significant religious importance for Muslims around the world. It serves as a place of worship, pilgrimage, and spiritual reflection for millions of Muslims who visit the site each year.
The mosque has undergone several expansions and renovations throughout history, and today, it stands as a grand structure with a large courtyard, elegant minarets, and a majestic dome covering the tomb of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The tomb area is a focal point for Muslims to offer prayers and seek blessings.
The significance of the Mohamed tomb lies not only in its historical and architectural importance but also in its role as a symbol of unity and reverence for Muslims worldwide. It is a sacred place of veneration and remembrance of the beloved Prophet, and it holds a special place in the hearts of Muslims as a center of spiritual connection and devotion.

01:33:49 What's up Doc? The Petra theory is garbage. Why? "becuase we have papyrii from Petra and stuff like that...". And? If there is no evidence in the Archeological or numismatic record for the existance of the Mother of all cities (Mecca?) up til about 750 AD then why should there not be a plausible subsitute, as Dan Gibson demonstrates? A few of his arguments:
Thomas Artsruni, writing in 887 AD makes this very clear as he identifies Petra, and then he lets us know that he is speaking of Mecca, “The Mecca” he says.
In the first 100 years of Islam the mosques all pointed to this city in southern Jordan.
The original Ka’ba was located in the city of Petra. in front of the large building known as the Temple of Dushara, or Qasr al-Bint.
from Azraqi the exact size of the Ka’ba building during Muḥammad’s lifetime. is the exact size of the original Ka’ba building as described by Azrqi. It was not square, and each side had a different length. And this foundation matches each of those lengths. And don’t forget, every mosque at this time faced this building. From east, west, north, and south every Qibla faced this building. Very strong evidence that this is the original Ka’ba, located in the city of Petra. Now today, the Temple of Dushara stands directly behind the first Ka’ba.
This was the valley where Hagar wept and cried out to the Lord, because little baby Ishmael was about to die. It was in this city that she found water, in Zamzam.
Before the time of Muḥammad, the people of the city were pagans. All nonsense...garbage?

Muhammad's goal was the Holy Land Q5:21 which he was facing for 17/18 months before the qibla changed to Mecca. Towards the end of his life he engaged in Zionist activities to capture the Holy Land Q5:21 as shown in the Stephen Shoemaker interview - that's why the Jews thought Muhammad was the Messiah as reported in Theopanes 817AD and why someone in the Jewish community in the mid 8th century wrote in The Secrets of Rabbi Šim‘on ben Yohai "...He shall raise up over them a prophet [Muhammad] in accordance with His will, and He will subdue the land [Israel] for them; and they shall come and restore it with grandeur..."

It was all politics and the theology came later. Do the history and forget about theology.
I was hoping you’d talk about the political intrigues that went on around him. There were attempts on his life, his ailment and impending death, and how Omar, the second Calif, stopped him from doing his testament and what possible role his household women folk had? Two of his wives were the daughters of the first and second Calif, whereas his own daughter who came out in the strongest terms against the califs who took over immediately after his death, died mysteriously soon after, and his whole family was bypassed.

It's particularly interesting around aisha. She was the daughter of his bff abu bakr, after his death she had a battle with Muhammad's nephew Ali. The battle of the camels I believe.
Interestingly, over 50% of authentic hadiths are attributed to aisha so it's hard to turn a blind eye to the impact and prominence aisha had ...

Supposedly, Fatima did not got along with her father's wives and the wives controlled what went on in the household, and she fought back at the califs in a very aggressive manner. It was clear to her how they pulled the rug from under her feet. Mohamad was a political leader foremost and the religious part was the equivalent of a modern political party dogma.

Judaism is not a missionary religion. There were no Arabs who converted to Judaism, but rather Jews who lived in the Arabian Peninsula. The reason for the Jews’ exodus from the Levant, which was under the control of their Persian friends, and their abandonment of the life of luxury in their holy land and their heading to the desert was their firm belief in the emergence of a prophet in this region, as the Book of Isaiah foretells the emergence of a prophet from Mount Sela, which is a mountain in Medina.

At that time, the term "Mohammed" was not a name, but a title for particularly revered people, especially and almost exclusively for Jesus Christ. "Mohammed" appears 4 times in the Koran and refers to Jesus Christ, but not to an alleged Arab prophet. There never was an Arab prophet, what could he have done? The Koran is plagiarized from A to Z, copied from biblical and parabiblical writings. There is nothing new in the Koran, old heretical and polemical teachings, especially Gnostic teachings. Jesus is mentioned 24 times in the Koran, there is no trace of an Arabic prophet. Jesus was the Messiah and not a prophet. Anyone who claims that Jesus was a prophet, do not understand the role of Jesus Christ. The Messiah cannot be a prophet at the same time, because the main task of a prophet is to announce the Messiah.

It's such a shame Jewish and Christian scholars and academics don't study Islam beyond the basic tenants and always apply Jewish and Christian presumptions when they do go into details. The claim of Islam is that this is nothing new, this is the religion of the one true God that has always had the same basic monotheistic principles which have differed from nation to nation in minor ritualistic practice only. But over time all previous religions have been corrupted and Islam should be seen as the correction. If you apply this and approach things academically, logically, spiritually and however else you want, you will get a true understanding of Islam and God for that matter.

As Anthony said, your average muslim who lives in a given community will have very simplistic view of their religion.. same goes for any other religion (or non religion for that matter). If they go and study the Quran in muslim institutions even at a basic level, they will learn everything about variant readings, foreign vocabulary of the Quran, competing codices etc...). Most of what the western academia is "discovering" now, is basically confirming the traditional muslim view on their religion. And they know it, because they cite the enormous work already done very early on by pious muslim scholars.
I think the big issue of "preservation" of the Quran today is stemming from a relatively modern idea of infallibility of the text "word for word, letter for letter, dot for dot" that some fringe but very vocal muslims are promoting. If these people talk to actual muslim scholars, they will be reprimanded for being ignorant but the world now is ruled by the most successful in promoting their idea, not by the content of those ideas

Ayesha's age at marriage has been over simplified. For example, even Jariir at-Tabari presents conflicting narrations on it. While in earlier part of his work he presents narrations of her being very young, in the same work (>History of Prophets and Kings) he has as many narrations that make her in her late teens or early twenties. Ibn Sa'd in his work (at-Tabaqaat al-Kubra) says that Ayesha was first engaged (even married!) to Jubair ibn Mu'tim ibn 'Adi, an this was about 15 years before the Hijrah to Madina. In that city the marriage to the Prophet took place in 2 AH. Furthermore at the time of the Hijraah, Asma - Ayesha's older sister by 10 years was about 28-29. This makes Ayesha around 18-19. >two years later when she married the Prophet would make her 20-21 years old. This fits with other accounts too, such as her rivalry with the Prophet's daughter, Fatimah. A well-attested fact.
The Sunnis have gone for the young Ayesha as bride rather than the older oen because it's part of the standard narrative of theirs that portrays Ayesha as the very young innocent bride who was always innocent of her actions. This covers her later actions in life that can best be described as insincere. Sunni historians (Tabari, Baladhuri, Ibn Sa'd etc.) mention that she incited the people of Madina to rise up against Uthman, the 3rd caliph, when he refused her request to grant her a bigger share of the remaining inheritance from her late husband's property, i.e. the Prophet's meager material legacy, saying, "Kill the na'thal for he has sinned [ اقْتُلُوا نَعْثَلا فَقَدْ كَفَرَ ].
When the agitation in Madina started to rise against Uthman, she left for Mecca, only deciding to return after he was killed. On the way she learned that the Madinans had chosen Ali as the next ruler. Her anger immediately erupted and turned she into 'an avenger' for Uthman's blood! Umm Kilab who was with her retorted that she had incited the people to kill him (Uthman) "and now you want to avenge his blood"!
Sunni writer have themselves presented facts about Ayesha that question her sincerity and integrity, as we see from the example above. Nothing could work better to cover up her misdeeds (others include launching the First Civil War in Islamic history, called the Battle of Basrah or Jamal!) than have her as the very young innocent bride often portrayed, despite the equally strong, if not stronger, evidence of her as a mature bride. *This is not a Shia-Sunni dispute when you look at what the early Muslim historians write about her, the vast majority of whom were Sunnis* !

Mohammed heard a voice in a cave, he told his Christian wife who thought he had got possessed or gone mad so took him to see a Christian prest who told Mohammed it was angel Gabriel talking to Mohammed. So what we learn is that the Christians are responsible for creating Islam, if the prest said it was the jinn god Iblis which was common to hear jinns living in caves at that time period then we would have a satanic occult to Jinns. Mohammed never got his message directly from God but though angel Gabriel in modern times we call people who talk to angels mediums or Christian spiritualists. There were 2 primary sources for mohammed's revelations. When he was 12 yrs old a Christian hermit followed him around while uncle Talib was trying to do business w the locals. He told the 12 yr old a lot, which the kid memorized. Young Mohammed was very tall and good looking for his age, attracting random people to follow him around. Once he had his terrifying first mushroom trip where he sees Gabriel telling him things he'd learned from the hermit, mohammed ran to his wife babbling. She took him to her elderly paternal cousin, who had been a Christian priest, with an extensive written collection, including his own essays on how people should conduct themselves. After the old man felt there was something to an illiterate young man's claims, which synced well with Christian scripture, he declared him legit. When the old man died soon after, mohammed's wife took all of the writings into her house and read them out loud to her husband. After Mohammed died, Ali (adopted son & son in law) gathered up all of these writings to help him write his history, alongside the dictatiion he took while walking alongside mohammed.

If he'd taken the medicine, he'd have survived and supported Ali better. The husbands of the daughters caused a split in the movement that today has still not healed. A better understanding of antibiotic herbs, and needing to not expose his young boys to travellers who might be sick, might have even saved one or both of his young sons. Even Thomas Jefferson lost all but his oldest daughter due to having too many social visitors at the dinner table. Patsy was old enough to survive by the time the dinners picked up pace. His wife's half sister was much more successful. Other than one stillborn girl, all of her children by Tom made it to adulthood, because they weren't introduced to travelers.
Understanding all options for success, plus a sane and well thought out succession strategy, is crucial for every leader.

Apart from that the story is no different from that of many other warlord in history with the express diffrence of it was religion that bound the arabs rather than nationalism
