As a Tamil guy, so happy to see Chef Rakesh Ragunathan be recognized so much. Such an underrated chef from India. His vlogs with his awesome mom are soulful
Right, that is the food in one of the southern states of India and limited to few hundred square kilometers, you cross that area and the food will be very different again.
Seeing the culinary of South India in Bay Area, from New Delhi, it was delightful to see homely food away from home. I am from Andhra, which is again a mine of native culinary, based in New Delhi have a mountain top view of Indian cuisine. South India has five States, Tamilnadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telengana, Karnataka and Karela, each have these states have regions n districts having their own cuisines to savour. Yes it’s a long culinary journey for podcasters. Thanks Keith.
A good job in highlighting South Indian food. Do underscore the fact that this is the peninsular half of India which manifests in its cuisine a distinctive relationship between its lush nature and its innovative people. Indeed, that enormously rich productivity played a part in motivating the Columbus voyage.
As a Tamil guy, this is my everyday meal. A proper saapadu with rice, sambar, rasam, curd, and a bunch of poriyals is just amazing! The crispy appalam, tangy pickle, and all the sides make it even better. Tamil food is simple but so flavorful, and it always feels like home. 😀
Hey bud, if I’m not mistaking, I think you live in Massachusetts. If you ever get a chance to visit West Springfield MA, please try Pintus restaurant. It’s mostly North Indian food but some items you won’t find in regular Indian restaurants. Always try the restaurant where the chef is the actual owner of the place. They will never have problems of chefs leaving for another restaurant. Keep doing the good work you’re doing. 😊
So happy to see the Welcome to Saapaadu present more varieties of cultural healthy cuisine than the boring Biryanis and Sambhars/potato stereotype. There are loads of cultural cuisine in Tamilnadu which have vanished from our major eateries here in Tamilnadu.
Well, Tamil is the oldest living language under the sun and gave lot of words for English also. But Sappadu actually came from the English word supper. UNAVU is actual Tamil word for Food or Suppper or Saapadu.
Please pin this. So India is mini earth in the all aspects. Just cleaning the rims of green chutney bowl before serving would make it look like a Micheline star hotel food presentation. Presentation is very important.
@@manithangavalu7885 Wow, personal attack for giving a suggestion on having a good presentation. The food seemed good, the brass plates looked good, only those finishing touch would have made it look exquisite. But I didn't know a very sensitive person would get offended, even though I didn't say anything to you. You need to calm down.
Hey Keith : The word 'SAAPADU' in the Telegu South Indian language means --- A meal. They term is normally used addressing a question to a friend --- vis. SAAPADU TINAAVAA, meaning have had food pal.
@@vadavaimusic coz myself , I m south indian , in telugu it's BOJANAM, in kannada OOTA , only in tamil they use SAPPADAM, even to have tea they use SAPPADAM.

MARUNTHE UNAVU.

MEDICINE is FOOD.
Let me put it this way: "Food itself is medicine, so medicine is none other than actual food"
