In these misinforming times, please research about Mercato Mayfair community hub.
It was a church constructed from 1825-1828. During and after World War 2, the congregation slowly fell in number and finally it was abandoned.
In 1974, it was deconsecrated and in 1989, it was registered under the list of 'Buildings At Risk' Register of England.
In 2014, Grosvenor proposed to transform this abandoned church into a food court and community hub. As people sympathized with the church, it was decided to keep its Greek aesthetic intact.
And finally, in 2019, it was opened as a food court/dining destination.
So please don't feel so emotional about it. It was an abandoned church and people sympathized with its former glory, so they kept its church style.
