It's about her mom who's been sick for a few years. She said she would never perform this song live.. then she played it for a charity concert last year for covid. She has a song called Ronan that I absolutely refuse to listen to because of how sad it is. She played it live once and the whole time you can see her trying not to cry. It's hard to watch.
I don’t know if anyone‘s mentioned this yet but her family talked about this song together to decide if Taylor would ever release it because it was so personal. It‘s so heartbreaking but I‘m so glad she did, the song hits me on personal level as well. I really hope Andrea all the best and hope she gets well! ❤️
It's about mama swift's cancer relapse. She did play it live for One World concerts(for covid pandemic) She has another song called "Ronan" it's about a 4yo who lost his battle against cancer, she wrote with Ronan's mother(not really with but she took inspiration from blogs by Ronan's mother regarding his cancer journey).
She said she would never play this live but she made an exception for the Global Citizen concert at the start of the pandemic knowing that a lot of people are resonating with the song with our situation today.
It’s about her mom who got diagnosed with breast cancer. She said that it was a big conversation with her family to even have the song on the album. She said she would never play it live. But covid happened. And she felt that so many people could relate and benefit from this song. So she joined the one world performance and it was beautiful. I’ve been a life long Taylor fan and this song came out 6months before my mom died of breast cancer and it resonates with me so hard.
Yes The Chicks feature on this song. It's amazing, and has a lot of layers to it really. Taylor has said that the first ever song she learned on the guitar was a Dixie Chicks song so she's a long time fan. The Chicks (they removed Dixie from their name in the wake of George Floyd since "Dixie" was often used as a nickname for the southern states that made up the Confederate States during the Civil War) were essentially blacklisted from country music back in 2003 for saying that they were "Ashamed that the president of the United States is from Texas" speaking of course about George W Bush. This made a lasting impression that Taylor said affected her greatly. Executives in Nashville told her to keep her political opinions to herself or else she's "End up like the Dixie Chicks". So simply by having them on her track, she sent a clear message that they will not be silenced and also that "Chicks stans never unstan." Long comment and I tried to simplify as much as possible but it's a really nice collaboration and it means a lot to a lot of people
Going through this with my dad and she paints the exact picture with her lyrics of what it's like.... When he passed away I was unable to listen to this song anymore. It's so beautiful but heart wrenching to hear it.
This song came out around the same time my mom passed away. I cannot hear this without crying...but it's also my favorite Taylor song and I love her for creating it.
When I got the notification, I thought "why on earth would he react to this one?" I mean, I do love this song, but it's too painful for me to listen to, cause it brings memories back when my mom was in the hospital fighting a heart disease. That's why I wasn't even sure of watching this, but I'm glad I did. I enjoyed your reaction, it seemed genuine and although it may not be your type of music, I love that you care about lyrics and the performance🥺❤ PS: the person who recommended this, definitely knew what they were doing haha
This song touches me so deeply right now because a close family member has brain cancer and is going through chemo and radiation and this song is just so personal for me right now. Cancer sucks especially when it’s effecting you directly and you never know how to deal with it until it hits you. The “soon you’ll get better” part hit’s especially hard because with brain cancer you don’t know if there’s any getting better. But I’ve been listening to this song on repeat for quite some time now.
I know this song is about her mom and her mom's battle with cancer but I had it on repeat when my stepdad, the man who raised me was dying of cancer at home. If I wasn't sitting at his bed side in the end I was in my room listening, crying, and singing this song.
this song hits me so hard because my dad was diagnosed with cancer 3 years ago. the line "i just pretend it isnt real" hits so hard and "who will i talk to if theres no you"... this is a song I needed
You should check out her performance of ‘Ronan’ at Stand Up to Cancer. She wrote it about a boy who passed away from cancer just before his 4th birthday. She read his mum’s blogs and wrote a song based on them, Ronan’s mum is credited a writer on the song as the lyrics are taken from her blog. It’s SO sad, you can see Taylor is trying really hard not to cry during the performance. She did cry afterwards but she held it together whilst singing, I have no idea how she did it because I can’t even listen to that song without crying :(
It’s about her mom’s cancer battle (she’s been cancer free about 3 years now). The Chicks are with her on the chorus. She couldn’t record this song until her mom was well.
We feel ya....it's a gut punch...but a beautiful depiction of the pain her family and other families have gone through ...other than the covid concert last year, I don't think she'll ever play it live...
i think she said that she dont think shell be able to sing this live because of the emotions flowing in her, but she performed this in 'Together at Home' and thats heartbreaking
This is about her mother. Her mother's been battling breast cancer for years, and now it's brain cancer. I really recommend doing "Ronan" next. There's a story behind it. EDIT: Ah, Never mind, just saw that you did it. Off to listen to your reaction.
Don't ever listen to Ronan. It's a beautiful song written for the the best intentions but it will definitely tear you to pieces in a way thats indescribable
What a gem. Hard to listen to. She did perform this live for Lady Gaga’s fundraiser during pandemic. It was hard for her to get through. If you haven’t listened to Ronan, she also performed this once for a fundraiser. All proceeds of the song went to cancer research. You can find the live fundraiser performance easily on RUclips . She performed is once on the 1989 tour, but the original for the fundraiser is the one. Thankfully it will now have a home on her re-recorded RED album. Worth a watch.
This song always makes me tear up 😢 it's so sad and beautiful 💙 hey can you react to pentatonix??? They are crazy talented please start with hallelujah or bohemian rhapsody

it’s about her mom. she had breast cancer and most recently a brain tumor.
😔😔
@@ohef17 yeah it’s really sad. her mom is her best friend. 😢
@@ohef17 I’m not liking this comment only because it’s at 13 but same, kinggg
Has anyone heard how her mom's doing?
Every time I hear this, it’s like she just drags you into the doctor’s office with her and you can feel the fear and sadness. She’s just incredible.
I absolutely love how you're always paying attention to the lyrics 🥺
Listening to the song, listening to your analysis, then watching the emotions on your face...DUDE!!! It is way to much! You have destroyed me!
The Chicks (Dixie Chicks) is featured on it because her mom loves them 🥺
And so does Taylor. They're some of her personal idols.
I don’t know if anyone‘s mentioned this yet but her family talked about this song together to decide if Taylor would ever release it because it was so personal. The relationship between her and her mother is heartwarming you should really react to “the best day” its about her mother too

This song brings such pain along.... I can't listen to it often, even though it is so well written and sung 😭😭😭❤️❤️❤️
I cry every time I hear this tbh. Also, I wanted to say I'm binging your reactions recently and I'm loving it!
Even swifties don't hear this song quite often because of its vulnerability
I'm sure you'll like songs like haunted, forever and always
Yep, Chicks are in this song and playing violin and banjo.
You want painting a picture try the moment I knew - that song didn't need a music video - the lyrics themselves were a video playing in my head
The Chicks are amazing musical artists. You need to check them out too. And Natalie Maines is one of the greatest vocalists of all time.

It’s a crime that I didn’t see this notification five hours ago when this was uploaded.
It's about her mom who has cancer. They're extremely close
Another song with similar vibe as this: Ronan.

The song is about her mom who has cancer. She has had it for years. They thought she got better but it came back.
She said she'll never play it live . She did once tho for a covid charity event.
Since you’re on a bawling streak, she also has a song called Ronan which she put out in 2012, 3 years prior to her mom getting diagnosed with c*ncer

The Dixie Chicks changed their name to just The Chicks after some recent controversy.
Her songs about her mom have always made me so much more conscious about how mortal my mom is. Sigh
It's about her mother battling with cancer 🥺
You should check out her song RONAN
Buddy you must react to Speak now album!
Please do react with "RONAN" by Taylor Swift. It was also nice and very emotional song, the song name after a boy who suffers cancer.
