I could’ve used one of those a few weeks ago !! I had a friend used his Artisan Tradition to cut a hose . But he didn’t realize it was hydraulic and had a wire to hold its form . He put chips in about 2” of the edge . I didn’t realize how hard it would be to work chips out of D2 . I spent about 4 hours on it , but got the chips out , a nice edge , and managed to not alter the profile at all . I felt good once I was done with it !! But something like this would’ve helped . I used a combination of my Lansky and a work sharp angle set sharpener . BTW , I figured out to stop at the tip in high school !!😂🤣😂🤣 Hopefully my bike wasn’t too far . Thanks for the video !! Take care JB
That Worksharp gets the job done!! I’ve been looking at those for several years now. My daughter got me the Smith’s version that is very similar to that. I need to get me some more belts :) Thanks Buddy!
The fact that you should stop before you reach te tip of the knife, that I didn't know, so thanks for the tip tip(no typo) You've got a nice job to do, very satisying.
Enjoyed watching you use it . It is definitely not my jam as I enjoy the KME and am really stepping my free hand game up as I have been working on it for 30 plus years lol. But I do think it is excellent for doing exactly what you did with it sharpening multiple knives that are not super expensive in a short period of time Well Done.
I have the MK2 arriving tomorrow and also have the precision angle sharpener. My son's friend has a bunch of filet knives he needs sharpened. How did the MK2 do with those? I love the precision angle sharpener, but my first attempt on a filet knife did not turn out as well I wanted. Any chance on a filet knife video with either or both of the systems? Thanks and great timing on the video!
I havent used the MK2 on the fillet knives yet but used the original on them many times with great results. I was thinking of doing a video of just sharpening...no dialog!
They have such a bad wrap, but I've had great success with mine. I've found after profiling or b4 switching belts, alternating side to side a stroke at a time, really helps to straighten out any burr that may have formed and really brings the edge into alignment.
Awesome vid, these seem to work really good now that it has the slower speed it may be something I will look into buying (poor wallet lol). Keep making sharp things fun and enjoyable.
I don't use diamond plates so can't really make a comparison. I mainly use this for large batch sharpening and tools anymore. For normal sharpening I use the Precision Adjust from WorkSharp or the KME.
Impressive results there in a very short time! I'm an old-fashioned guy who likes to sharpen his knives on stones because it soothes me, but I must admit: you'd probably do at least 4 or 5 knives in the time it takes me to sharpen just one !
Just picked one up, what grit belts would you recommend? I was thinking 220, 1000, 2500, and 6000. I sharpen everything from axes, to pocket knives to kitchen knives, and even Barber scissors
Looked really easy. Not alot different than the Ken Onion. You have both now and have used the new one. I don't know the price on the Mach 2. In your opinion is it a big enough improvement to purchase and have two. My Ken Onion is basically new maybe 15 knives done on it. I would appreciate your opinion. Does that new won do much larger items such as lawn mower blade? Would appreciate knowing if you think buying the new one to go with a pretty much new Ken Onion blade grinder???
I dont have the Ken Onion version....I have the original knife and tool sharpener. Now if the Ken Onion can do the tools and mower blades...I would say you are good with that one. The Ken Onion also has more edge angle options where the MK2 only has 20 and 25 degrees. I would say stick with the Ken Onion if you can do your tools and everything with it! Thanks so much Rick!
You are supposed to follow the curvature of the blade and also check for a burr before switching sides, then do an equal number of passes on the opposite side. Then strop, with the 6000 belt maybe 5 times per side. Only when youve done that do you wanna try on paper. Otherwise you are cutting with the burr, it's never gonna be good.
@cosmin6155 it takes temps of 400 to 1200° to affect the twmper of steel. If you use this sharpener as directed, you shouldn't get near those temperatures.
Got one today. Works great! Saves on the wrist with sharpening. Hones to razor quality. Will see how belts hold up...that's it for now.
Glad to hear it works for you.

Yikes....reinforced hose!!! Glad you got it work out! Yeah...something like this may have made it quicker for sure! LOL...thanks for watching Jason!!
Thank you for the demonstration I've been thinking of getting one of those might just do it now when I get out the hospital finally
Hope you are doing as well as possible my friend!! Thanks so much for watching!!

Right on KD! Thanks so much for watching!
Now that's how you bring back that razor edge!! Nice sharpeners from Work Sharp!! Thanks Big Red!
😉👍
I do like how quick you can bring back an edge with the MK2. Great for doing a batch of knives likes this!! Thanks Zach!!!
Thank you. I'm just beginning to try to sharp knives.
Awesome! You gotta find the method that works best for you!!
The fact that you should stop before you reach te tip of the knife, that I didn't know, so thanks for the tip tip(no typo)

Yeah...if you dont stop, you can round off the tip! Thanks for watching Jeroen!!
Thank you for sharing! The Mark 2 really seems to be a step up from the first model.
Some decent improvements for sure! Thanks David!
And it’s less expensive
Nice! Just bought off of amazon today. Can’t wait too get to sharpening with it.
Hope you enjoy it!
Nice system. Seen one a time or two but haven’t seen in action. Easy enough. 👍🏻
It really is pretty easy once you get the hang of it! Thanks for watching!!
Nice sharping system. Got the job done nicely. TFS brother 🇺🇸
Thanks for watching!!!
Great video never tried to sharpen a knife myself
It definitely takes practice Kevin!! Thanks so much for watching!!
Wowsers. Very nicely done. May have to check one out.
Thanks KC! It works pretty well for sure!!

Great for that application for sure! Tools as well! Thanks again Chad!
Good job. I have rounded off a couple of knives.
Oh...I have too Manny!! Gotta get the hang of it!! Thanks for watching!!
That sharpener sure made short work of sharpening that knife. Great sharpener for work knives and hunting/fishing knives. Great video once again JB.
Most definitely! Thanks brother!!
Thanks for the demo! I'm going to need to get one of those!
Thanks for watching Andrew
Might have to get me one of the new work sharpers looks like it works good
They do work pretty well! Thanks Osbaldo!!
Good video. Now where do you get those little belts? I got the sharpener but I need those belts. Thanks
You can get them at www.worksharptools.com/product-tag/wskts2 or on Amazon
U DEFINITELY moved this thing to front of my Interest list J B 🏆
Awesome! Thanks for checking it out Eddie!!

Great demo. 👍
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!!
Worksharp does it right can’t go wrong with Worksharp thanks for a great demo JB
Thanks for checking it out brother!
@@BigRedEDC You’re welcome JB

Like any other method, it takes a little practice but does work pretty well!
Excellent demonstration my friend 👍
Appreciate it Jeremy!
Can you get a sharper edge using this vs Diamond plates? Which is more effective in getting a sharp edge?

Big improvement!
I would say so too Sue! Thanks for watching!!
Hi JB, would you say that , the workforce is a good investment? And you recommend it 👍 :))
I do! Not only is it good for knives but you can use it on tools and mower blades as well!!

Heck yeah...it did a great job man!
Thanks for checking it out brother!!
Nice job as I have owned mine for 3 years and still have not used it....LOL....I gotta get to it....Good stuff....
LOL...oh really! I'm probably going to do a couple videos with it! Well...one for sure, its already been made...lol! Thanks Scott!!
@@BigRedEDC Mine is new with about 2" of dust on it....LOL...🤣🤣🤣
@@scottf.3808 lol!!!
Love those 6000 Grit belts. Use mine about every day.
Very cool Chuck! Thanks for watching!

That should be a pretty good variety
How would that do for a scandi-vex grind.
I have used it on Scandi ground Moras for sure! Thanks William!!
It sounded quite quiet here in Idaho. I think I heard you say, that it is adjustable to 15*, is that correct?
This one only goes to 20° Mick. The Precision Adjust goes to 15
Sounds like a nice machine.
Not too bad at all! Thanks for watching!
Great demo , thanks buddy
Always appreciate you watching brother!

@@BigRedEDC Yes with the blade grinder attachment I can do all the tools. Thanks for the advise.
@@rickkerans8485 yeah...I dont see any reason to move away from the Ken Onion!
so speed 2 is used to sharpen speed 1 instead for the definition or polishing of the blade right?
You can use it that way for sure!
That was quick, I wish it had more angle options.
Yeah...need to step up to the Ken Onion edition for more angles! Thanks Randy!
Oooooo yes!!!!!😀😀😀😀😀
Time for action!!!
...........pant leg strop................good one..............
Does work pretty well!
Great review, love it!
Thank you very much Walter
Very cool! I've been eyeballing one of those but I've heard its easy to take too much material if you're not careful. Any experience with that?
I dont really understand that. You are incomplete control. I am not the greatest sharpener in the world and I have not had that problem!
Thanks Greg!
@@BigRedEDC I guess some folks are just scared of powered sharpeners. Thanks for the input!
You know barbers need to make a living too!😉
Very true Oscar!
Woooo Nelly Lol 😆
LOL!!!!
Lol that noise reminds me of an angry monster that wants to eat my knife. Good job though! I have 0 confidence in my sharpening skills.
Its something you have to get the hang of for sure! My hand sharpening skills need a lot of work! Thanks Jack!!

A lot faster than my kme.
True....there is so.something soothing about using the KME though!!!
@@BigRedEDC that is definitely true.
doesn't it overheat the blade and destroy the heat treatement?
The blade doesnt get that hot

The Ken onion version has several belts.
Knife-porn!!!!🤣🤣🤣
