      If the person in charge of an office allows their juniors to drag their feet they can cry that they need more juniors to get the job done, the office is then a bigger entity and they need a more senior officer to be in charge of more people and because the person in charge before the staffing explosion is the one who knows the job inside out, they will be the one who gets the promotion.

    Fine, reduce to 4 days but there must be a 20% paycut. If they argue that they can do the same work in 4 days as 5, then they aren't working hard enough (which we already know). Civil service and public sector workers have no clue. Try working in the private sector and you will see what working for a living is really about!

    Additionally when there is cover required for long term sickness and holidays, will they be paid overtime for working a 5 day week, which they were contracted to do....at, I assume, the increased hourly rate they are now being paid.
    What a joke !!! Have you tried to make contact with someone from the council.....if you manage to get your call answered....and they can hear you over the sound of their child crying.....you will usually get cut off.....this country is a joke.

    A working contract is 37 hrs a week. Monday's is the most busy when you might be trapped in the office 10-11 hrs. As every call center the most hours you pass when it's the busiest and you end at least a day on the week doing nothing. Your contract is 37 hours a week so you get paid hourly.
    If you do your job in 2 days working 20 hours a week you done your job because are things to do that needs to be done and dealt with.
    So what's the problem? Is anyone that got the next meeting at the Job Sender?

  • @nheather
    @nheather 4 дня назад

    Not sure I will notice the difference to be honest. These are two common experiences that I encounter when dealing with government departments - I think caused by excessive part time contracts and home working.
    1) After an excessive wait on the telephone I am told that the person that can deal with my query isn’t in today and could I try again tomorrow
    2) A government officer telephones me wanting something, I apologise saying that I am at work in a meeting and ask if I can call them back. And I am told “sorry, I am working from home and I’m not allowed to give you my private home number”. The irony is that they have called me on my private mobile telephone number.
    I’m afraid that government (local and central) departments have become so broken and dysfunctional, that the service is now sow poor, I don’t think we will be able to tell the difference between a 5 day a week poor service and a 4 day a week poor service.

  • @legionnairegonk4425
    @legionnairegonk4425 3 дня назад

    Yes, their calling to actually work 4 full days a week is very good of them! Well done and thanks for pulling up your socks after all these years! 😂... As opposed to now where long coffee breaks, endless pointless meetings and 'brainstorming' sessions, combined with (not) working from home often and long lunch breaks means they are probably only doing about 16 hrs a week of actual productive work right now - if that.
    Here speaks a private sector corporate veteran, where although working harder than those in the public sector is a necessary requirement to survive redundancy, even then only about 3.5 out of every 5 days is actual work in my experience - and 12 hours a week are wasted on the above follies. So you can imagine how unproductive the lazy public sector is!
