I personally went for the top line and giving them more accuracy, ammo, and fire rate from their doctrines, since they are already a fairly accurate unit, and the rate of fire is augmented nicely by their ammunition pool. I try to use them as hero assassins, because if a hero tries to dive on them, they will have to get through me first, while taking volley after volley, which is painful even for a heavy armor hero, except SS or LS which have shields, then if they try to run away, the massive crits these guys have kick in. Since so many units with high piercing defense or ranged resistance play in my games, heros are the only viable thing I can consistently kill with them. Another method I like is using the Poleaxe or Glaive, which have abilities that can reduce the amount of armor a target has, meaning more damage gets through, and the 15% damage buff the glaive gives is horrendously powerful with the firerate these guys have, and I don't even have doubleshot!
oooh yes, having played a lot of games with them now if I ever saw them out in the field (lol) I would def not hero charge them. The rate of fire is just scary and I have caught out so many heroes that thought 'lol demesne x-bow nom nom... wait... NO .. AAAARGGGHHHJJHJKMNBSKJ" lol
I'm with you on the Ironcap Arqs, but this video just helped convince me how bad Desmesne Xbows are. Even with honor nodes, full Epic doctrines, and max level, they just couldn't get a many kills as Ironcap muskets can for just 5 more leadership. Stacked up side-by-side to muskets, they really do look super weak.

Demesne pikes are a regular feature in my videos :) You get a lot of pokey pokey for your 70 leadership :) Yes indeed, I am working my way through a few forgotten or low tier units now to give players an idea of what they are in for when working towards them :)

Make a video on Prefecture archer, hybrid line (to get max fire rate). I want everyone to know how powerful it is! Hitting 5k critical on light armored units and 1k normal on heavy armored units while firing 1 arrow per unit per second. It is that good! And since you're playing in frontier, you've probably noticed more people are using them now compared to namkhans.
Prefecture are great for their cost :) Fun fact is they used to be the best archers in the game back in the day, like a machinegun platoon level of awesome. I do like and play this unit but I actually very rarely see them in game. 80% of ranged units I see now are Pavise Xbows
@@boat66543 for real. Everybody be salivating with their imp archers while the prefecture archers just shred. Sure against super heavies, imp archers are much better but for everything else (units with less than 700-800 piercing def or so), prefecture archers are just wayyy wayyyy better. I got both with 4 purples + 1 blue (breakthrough) with maxed unit tree upgrade so I know what I'm saying about both of them. Yeah most games are pavise just because its easier to have a good game with them. Their survivability is just really reliable. But I see more prefectures than namkhans actually.
I do think they need to be buffed a bit. They were full purple doctrines and still arent on a level with ironcap swordsmen or pike militia. But they are a green unit and not a high priority. I do think that blue armor pen doctrine would be better than breakthrough doctrine. The closer to 1700 the better. Even with op doctrine they went from pretty bad to alright.
Oh for sure they need a bit of love, these ones are totally maximised and still just 'useful'. Though TBH I'd take them over the Ironcap swords, the sort of units I end up facing in matches just totally overwhelm the ICS but the DC can hide behind your teams zerkers and pikes.
Hello, Do you have a video on the silahdars? I’m curious about ur opinion on them. Just unlocked the azaps and they are amazing. Only lvl 15 and terrible doctrines but I decided to try them anyway. Absolutely deadly in the right situations. Can’t wait to fully level them
Azaps are awesome :) I have a video somewhere called 'Silhadar Executioners' I think it is. Its a general gameplay video but has them as a feature. Its a really old video from when I first started YT so sorry in advance haha! Silhadars are an extremely dangerous unit that veteran players will not engage in melee without overwhelming odds. Its their massive leathality that is also their downfall because you can gaurantee you will get hyperfocussed by the enemy as quickly as they are able. Because they are quite slow they can be very vulnerable at times. I love the unit; use the toughness enhancing vet line because they do not need more damage output and need all the survivability you can get. Super fun and instant murder but you better be ready for every enemy in range to want you dead ASAP lol
Never tried them because i immediately went for arbalists and they were the worst unit i maxed out by far. If the crossbows do 1k damage to palace guard they do about 10x as much as arbalists.
Right? Theres just something "wrong" with the Demesne Arbalests and I can't quite figure it out. I think it's the lack of any sort of redeeming feature (e.g. Demesne x-bows massive rate of fire) that means you really don't have anything to work with. I must finish levelling them and try again

A fair assessment!
I think DC are very much an early game unit, good for annihilating light units. End game needs that meaty armor pen :)
The purple doctrine with 200 armor pen helps them so much but still only usable.
The pen is def a low stat, the docs are very helpful

Im new to conquerers blade so I usually just shield my artillery with ironcap spears but this makes me want to use crossbows
Give them a go. They are not tge strongest unit out there but they are fun and cheap :)

Breakthrough doctrine is true damage though. Meaning you add +95 damage to your supposed final damage. Meaning, it doesn't get reduced by armor.

Truth! Salad tossers have cover commander which you use yo get stuck in, hit 2 knock everyone on their asses, hit 1, toss the salad.
