I think not. I think you're guessing he's a burned out lush entirely based on what you consider how awful he looks from selective photos you've seen in magazines. I doubt that you've ever seen him in person. But, of course, I'm simply guessing.
The man is in his mid-fifties. He acknowledges drinking throughout his adult life. Ms Jolie would have noticed this during the filming of Mr. & Mrs. Smith. Her then husband Billy Bob Thornton had long been drinking his fair share when they met. Didn't seem to bother her then since by the end of filming, they'd both dumped their partners and got married. You might recall the juvenile antics of that union, it was the gossip fodder of all the media. As for Mr. Pitt, he looks his age. No Botox, no fillers, no nips or tucks. He doesn't even color his hair unless the role he's playing calls for it. If you happen to see Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, you may be quite surprised to note how fit he is. Clearly, he's taking good care of himself. Considering the efforts he's gone through to prove to the court, the therapists, every single requirement including supervised visits with his children while their mother has done everything within her power to thwart him from seeing them at all as she unleashed her p.r. machine on him with a degree of cruelty I find truly staggering, especially since only a few years earlier she was giving interviews saying she couldn't have gotten through the surgeries without his devoted care and love. Fortunately, his love for the children and theirs for him proved to the experts involved that he was, is, an attentive, loving father. This, more than anything, enabled him to address his own issues, stop drinking, find his best self and earn equal custody. The pain it took him to achieve it also shows on his face, as does strength, courage, patience, learning, understanding, forgiveness, joy, willingness to continue working on himself, work with and for his children. I'm not guessing here. The court decision is based entirely on documented reports from all the experts over a two year period. Moreover, he endured the public humiliation with grace. I wish him all the best as he continues to rebuild his life with his family. The children, in addition to the trauma of the past two years, will have the countless issues all kids face growing up.

That is probably THE most asinine, ignorant comment I've seen this year. You are most likely single with no female friend. You must be sexist. Because you know, it's always the women's fault for everything. I've been married for just over 5 years (been together for 10 yrs) and never once have I ever "tested" my husband. Another thing is that maybe it was one of those things where they both fell in love with each other rather they intended to or not because the chemistry was to strong. That has been known to happen and it can be tragic and sad for all involved.

I was in a 20 year relationship with someone who, looking back now with more clarity, had been a low level substance abuser for a lot of years before drugs and alcohol finally became the thing that broke us up.
It's a really difficult situation to be in. If they can't admit they have a problem, you have to make a lot of hard choices.
I see her side more than his. Yeah, hes gone to rehab and that's great but the damage is done and it's hard to get back to the place where you were happy in the relationship and there was trust.

I think the reason they focused on Jolie's past relationships and marriages was to show a pattern of Jolie repeatedly jumping into relationships with men that she did films with, who were either already married or involved with other women. I also think it was a valid point since the video indicated that Jolie kept close tabs on Pitt (keeping him away from other women) to ensure he didn't develop relationships with old girlfriends or women that he filmed with.

As a person close to someone with BPD, I saw in it AJolie a long time ago. Brad's drinking and behavior are typical of someone who is trying to cope with a partner who is highly abusive and has convinced the abused partner it's all their fault, then turn the children (in this case the son) against the abused partner. Then, the BPD person uses their abused coping mechanism (drinking) against them to say, See! This is why things are the way they are. I feel for Brad because I've seen it happen. Worse is that this is being played out for the public to speculate on (just as we're doing right now) putting everyone under a microscope. I hope his friends have the courage and intelligence to help Brad get to a better place, tell him it's Not his fault and help him move on. He seems to be a genuinely nice person and a good father who loved family life.
