First, I love the map of Wildmount in the background! When you were talking about finding a different method for spell tracking with Lola, it made me think of how D&D Beyond went down during a combat for me. Luckily I was playing my warlock and not my druid or I would’ve really been struggling remembering what I had prepared that day. (Actually I probably just would’ve wild shaped if I hadn’t already.) Having the basic physical books handy was definitely helpful.
Thank you! I definitely have experienced the same thing with dndbeyond in the past week especially, which is why I'm so grateful for my journals- I'm in the same boat with being more prepared if Grey's sheet goes down than if Lola's does. It's always good to have something physical on hand for sure!
I bought spell cards that I use, as well as clear card holder sheets for my ringbinder. very neat! it works really well for me when i'm playing my druid
I love this! I've started trying to create a character journal for each of my characters rather than using D&D beyond but I've been using exercise books for mine so they're more portable... but the binder feels so much more flexible! For the spells, I felt the same and so got the R-N-W spell cards which have been working great for the casters that can change at a level up. There are sets for each class and then there's a box you can store them in, but I just have a pouch to store the ones for my session :)
Thank you!! I started with both Grey and Lola in smaller books but moved to binders because of the flexibility! And I totally forgot that r-n-w had spell cards- definitely something to look into for Grey's ever-growing spellbook and for the future!
I’ve been doing a lot of research on making my very 1st character journal. I am still new to dnd but I think this would defs be more beneficial for me having a journal and more interaction and interesting for me to look at Vs the dnd beyond app! In mine tho I will be having card holders pages for my wildshape and Druid spell cards that I can easily see and access cause again, I tend to do better when I can physically see what I need infront of me 😅 Thank you so much for doing these journal vids! It’s been super helpful 🥰
I also been working on a journal for my current D&D character I started 2 years ago. We are still playing, but I wanted a journal for the character. I have been playing in a homebrew world called Tem. So far I have been going through videos to get ideas how to layout for the stats and all. Getting ideas on how I could do it. Glad I was able to find this video.
People always have such nice dnd journals. Mine never turn out as pretty as I want. I'm hoping to play my first ever dnd campaign soon, I'm doing it with friends who are starting a campaign soon and have a bit more experience then me. I really am into bg3 at the moment (where I started making dnd like charachter journals) wich made me want to finally take a step further and play dnd like most people know it, I have enjoyed watching dnd stuff for way too long to never have played lmao.
I just found your channel today, and was watching your note taking video. Amazing stuff, and great inspo for me. I'm starting a starfinder campaign soon, so notes will be important since it's my first time playing. Keep it up!!!!
I play a Grave Domain Cleric and use a repurposed A5 ring binder diary that cost me 50p. I cut some card to size and made slits just large enough to paper clip in my spells for the day - I was able to buy the complete spell list (for every class) on Etsy in a sale for silly money. The rest stay sorted into their levels elsewhere - it works well because everything you need in the moment is right there for you to see, and can be swapped easily when you choose.
being able to repurpose a binder is the best- my journal for my other campaign was on the clearance rack and was intended to be used as a planner! I recently started using spell cards so this is great advice- thank you! ✨
Ooh I have been eyeing the rook and the raven ones for a long time! For a pre made journal, a lot of art and decoration can be done in the margins or around the edges- I sometimes will use scissors to cut the edge of a sticker to allow it to line up flush with the edge of the page. That way you can provide a lot of customization while still being able to fill in and access the pre-existing pages!
Hi! The supplies used for each of my character journals are in the descriptions of each of Lola and Grey's journal tours- the printables are a combination of the Modular Character Sheets by penflower-ink and the Printable Character Journal by r-n-w.net!
Hellooo! I’ve been watching a bunch of these types of videos because my boyfriend plays dnd with his friends from work and I wanna do this for him cuz I had no idea this existed and only found out about this from a yt recommendation. SO IF ANYONE CAN I HAVE LIKE LITTLE TO NO KNOWLEDGE OF DND I WANNA KNOW AND ANY SORT OF POINTERS OR INFO YALL CAN GIVE ME TO LEAD ME IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION TO DO THIS FOR HIM I WOULD LOVE AND FOREVER APPRECIATE THE HELP SO MUCH!
If you can find out what class your boyfriend plays, it will make it a lot easier to learn about what he might need in a journal! You could also customize the journal without filling in the scores and abilities, just in case you aren’t confident on what his character can do, so he can fill in the blanks and you can do the artsy part! Printables such as the ones used in this video can also help make sure that you have included all of the main elements he may need! I hope my journal videos can provide a great place to start! ✨
I'm currently working on my first character journal and I've been rewatching your videos to get into the mood so this video came at the perfect moment
Thank you! I hope you're having fun putting together your journal! ✨

Could you do a video about how you create your characters?
I would love to do this (and am planning to!) in the future with my next character after Lola's adventure comes to an end!
@@shapingshan Yes please!
No entiendo mucho de lo que dice pero me sirvió de inspiración para mi propio journal, thank you
So I bought a Rook and the Raven journal for my Starfinder campaign and I dont have great ideas on customizing it

Hi,
Could you give link to buy the blocknote and print the papersheet ?

@@shapingshan Tks, your Journal is so cute :-), i will use it as an inspiration for mine. +1
