This is a pretty round about method. If you need a lot of speech done you should put your audio into premiere, use the transcription feature (make any corrections there), export an srt transcript file, then in Character Animator in that transcript field (click on your audio clip) click import and put the srt file there and you have your entire transcript there to analyze. That way is extremely accurate just leaves a few holes for you to do manually. For the sections that “failed” I play them back and just speak those couple words a few times then record it to get it close and tweak it. That gives you long mouth animations the fastest possible way.
to my knowledge most twitch streamers with 2D characters that follow their movement use Live2D, which is a lot more complicated (might also be more advanced in some ways but I don't know), than Adobe Character Animator from what I'm seeing.
Love seeing the shout out to Okay Samurai! Such an amazing channel for all sorts of tutorials on Animator! Great vid brad! I’m theory could you create all of the parts in procreate?
I've watched a ton of his videos in the last week getting everything rigged up. I love that Adobe is cool with letting their team make content like this. It's great when it comes from people who are super passionate about what their working on. The Procreate thing: absolutely! I did my original artwork for the character in Procreate and that's the PSD I originally worked from. I did end up turning it all into vector so I can scale it up to 4k + without losing any fidelity going forward.
@@thebradcolbow amazing video and i totally agree! Would love to see u tackle more in the future and share what other things you discover from adobe character animator after using it in a longer periods of time🙌🏽
Character Animator is so awesome! Great to see your take on it. I love how each part of your character can be animated as separate tracks. So you can record your audio, then go back and record head movements, then adjust eye gaze, hand positions, etc. Makes it super flexible and you don't have to get it right on the first take. Also, I learned everything I know from Okay Samurai! :)
I’m sure someone has already said this, but for longer dialogue you could also utilise Premiere Pros auto transcript feature to avoid having to type it all out too. Hopefully that will come to CH eventually too, since that makes the most sense.
I really want to use Character Animator. The ability to record and then alter the animations is something I wish a live2d software have. It would be so much better than the simple vtuber streaming stuff can offer. But Character Animator as an animation software is still very limited, I would really like more elements to work with and be creative about, full 360° eye-tracking is still missing. For now the work it does can only be used as a complimentary addition to videos instead of the main visual aspect of them. It really has potential to be great, but for now it's just not as good.
My sync issues resolved when I switched all audio input and output settings to 16bit, 48kHz mono. Lot of us have mismatched input and output values and CA has to resample on the fly - which causes sync drift and other oddities. Live mic sessions don’t have this problem cuz it’s not looking ahead as it does for recorded files.
This actually seems pretty good, I can see alot of people like youtubers and streamers getting into this. But it would be interesting to see actual "shows" adopt this tech with their actors. The shows that use rigged based animations. I'm just wondering does it capture the whole body? In this you only had a medium shot of yourself. Also are you able to just import videos instead having to record?
@@KingNekodom Oh yeah that totally would happen :l Well in a more moral world it would be great if the money saved by going this route would be redirected into another department that needs more hands. For the little guy who wears many hats this could be a useful way to save time.
It's crazy because I recently just made an animation for the first time while learning after effects for the first time and this is the first time hearing about this. It definitely looks good especially how fast it is. I think with some letters it does close the mouth, I think that might be with rigging though. I definitely look forward to using this though it saves so much time.

Well Brad. Since you liked the Tab S6 Lite so much, you might be interested in this. There's a refresh of the device called the Tab S6 Lite 2022 Edition (rather than a Tab S8 Lite for some reason) that just launched in Italy.
I'm not entirely sure if vtubers (the animated characters streamers) are using Character Animator. Most software I've seen for it are more designed specially for it, like Luppet, VRoid Studio, Live2D, VSeeFace, and VTube Studio. Though some of those layer tools do look similar. Is Character Animator new?
Character Animator is not new, it was part of After Effects, then later became it's own program, it's probably not that popular because it's more known for people that work on motion graphics, if you check Chris Ovemery, he does some cool things using it for livestream/vtubing

One thing you don't mention is that if you want it working in OBS you have to install NDI which sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. Works on my laptop, but won't work on my desktop, and if it doesn't work then there is nothing you can do.
Do you have any idea how it will work with foreign languages? Does it just show the right mouth shape for the sound that you are making irrespective of whether it recognises the word?
Short notice about the beginning- most Vtubers are actually rigged with a program by the name of Live2D, and tracked with (usually) Vtube studio. In fact, most vtubers (ESPECIALLY popular ones) I've seen talking about the tech behind vtubing don't know about Adobe Charactor Animator at all (and they say that Live2D is the only Vtuber tracking app.) Other than that, amazing video. I really enjoyed seeing what you had to say about this program, and I'm really glad it's gonna cut the amount of work you have to do for your videos. Thats awesome, man :)
