      It's a lot of money for most people. Rack rentals are a good option to look into for this particular topic if possible.

      @@georgehewitt8041 We offer them for our wireless students. It's definitely setup for wireless-centric studies as the wired side of things is mostly setup and not able to be manipulated too much as far as SD-Access is concerned. I haven't looked elsewhere to see what others are offering.

    May i know can the ESXi and ISE run on the same server which you show here, thus no additional virtual CPU or RAM are required.

    @Jeff that’s what exactly I was waiting for to build home lab. Just wondering why we need 2x3850 switch for BR+CP roles? Why can’t we use Cisco ISR 1000 or 4300 series routers?? Could we use ISR router? I see 3850 will be doing BGP to Fusion and IS-IS towards fabric side.

      There are multiple options for the BR+CP roles. My wheelhouse is the wireless CCIE, and we use switches for those roles. But I can see other tracks potentially using something else. Those would be options to probably save even more money. Glad you made mention of them.

      @@Networkdojo actually Cisco ISR 1000, 1100 and 4321 series routers are far more cheaper on eBay than cisco switches. In terms of Fusion Routers cisco 1921 or vFTD are great options too. For Fabric Edge I see cisco 9200 are useless because they can only have 4 VRFs. I would recommend 9300 or 3850 or even 3650 could be great for FE roles, they can support good number of VRF/VNs

      @@doctorpacket6935 Yes 3650s are the go-to option for cheap edge switches. I use those in my racks in lieu of 9200s (which is what the CCIE Wireless lab uses).

      Great Video and follow-up discussion. One question I have in mind is if the same ESXi Server (256GB memory/1TB SSD drive) can possibly run both DNAC and ISE at the same time or will DNAC possibly have issues w/that ? Beyond that, for the other stuff, looks like the cheapest and best options will be Cisco 1921-Fusion Router, Cisco 3650-FE and Cisco 4321-CP/BP Node. Any thoughts or comments ?

      @@Networkdojo For Border and Control Plane Switches for catalyst 3850, any specific IOS: IP base or IP services? I believe must support BGP and ISIS. Is it ISIS and BGP only support on IP Services?

    Thanks the great info, want to know further if I can build the lab in eve-ng virtually to replace the 3850 and 3650 switch?

    • @Networkdojo

      The only virtualized wired device I see in the compatibility matrix is the Cisco Cloud Services Router 1000v, but only as a control plane node. Border and edge nodes appear to have to be physical.

      @@Networkdojo Thanks your reply, I looking for 9300 switch but there lot of model and software bundle, maybe I go with 9300L which with fixed uplink module for lower cost, but not sure the essential version can fully complete the CCIE EI SD-Access lab parts vs the advantage version?

    • @Networkdojo
      @Networkdojo  3 года назад

      @@nelsoncisco the 9300L is on the compatibility list found at www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/td/docs/Website/enterprise/sda_compatibility_matrix/index.html. I believe the advantage license level is advertised as required, and that's what I have personal experience with. That's not to say that there isn't a way to try and make a switch purchased with the essentials license level work for a lab though. I just don't know of it.

    buy wmug advantage subscription for esxi and workstation - 200 per year

      Thanks for the suggestion. It looks like that gives 1 year eval licenses, which is a bit more manageable than the included 60 day eval license.
