I no joke fail 98% of anything I do during the day. I can’t live with being unable to do anything AT ALL. I’ve signed up for the final exit network and am so scared to do it. I’m actually terrified. I don’t want to do it but every day, all day Is a struggle. I have non stop Tics that are totally debilitating. I can’t even make my own food without burning myself or fling ingredients everywhere. Then having to clean it up and repeat. My point is I listen to your music everyday and it help sooth me and make me feel better. Your song are so interested to my ears and it just makes me feel so good. Your voice is so deep and euphoric I’m so happy that you are making such beautiful music. my favourite from the album, no question. i love every song but this one just makes me want to dance like crazy and scream the words as loud as i can. every time he says "youre good to me" i can hardly breathe or move any muscle in my body because this song just takes over. just magical, magical, magical.

This song is my absolute favorite off the album. This song just embodies forgetting about what other’s perceptions and just loving someone and being so in love with being loved. I just want to dance to this song while someone calls me their honey :’)
This has to be my favorite song on the album, the perfect mix of sweet and heartfelt yet fiery and strong in the chorus... I love it so much I can’t even explain
"love in withdrawal was the weeping of me, but the sound of the saw is know by the tree" a beautiful was to say that hurt and pain is on it way and to live despite it
personally, i think this is one of the. most. beautiful songs on this album, or in history. it's literally POETRY. every time i give it a listen, it feels like so much more than just that. i consider it a gift. no song gets my emotions more than this song, and it's always refreshing to hear it.
This gives me massive dnd vibes, like an ethereal cozy forest feel. I love it so much, I feel a yearning for a quiet life with someone special who will pick tomatoes in our garden with me.
See, I see it differently: I think he's comparing the types of people he loved to elements. Good women were the wood, where the fire women were a bit more toxic but passionate and kept him alive. It feels like he's processing why he has the need to love the fire, he's trying to be with the wood which is more inviting and less damaging....but unfortunately he Workships the fire: "with the road of the fire my heart rose to its feet" and he "settled soft and as pure as snow" ready to be melted by the fire. My god, the artistry that this guys has!
Your voice in the chorus is stunning. I mean, your voice is always stunning, but in those moments it is particularly so. Very stretched, raw, visceral, reaching out so deep. God, thanks for allowing us to listen to this.
i don’t think i’ll ever be the same after listening to hozier. this music makes me want to run away in the best way ever. like i could kindly and gently decompose. like i could mean something without ever being known.
Hozier, Ben Howard, Gregory Alan Isakov…just on a completely other level of music and lyrics. Makes you miss shit you never had but know that you want. It’s poetry and beauty and kindness and sadness all at the same time.
Good god, this guy is talented. I never heard of him until Almost Sweet Music came on my radio a few weeks ago but his music is insanely good. There are so many layers to each song; the passion is unreal.
lol just heard him from sweet music? wow I like his old shit and just started getting into this new album. sweet music being one of the songs that convinced me he still had it haha
Damn. Hozier just makes me so happy. I swear I wouldn’t know what would happen to me if I didn’t discover him. Like i could be having the worst day ever and all I would have to do is listen to his voice
This song is one that brings me energetic comfort. The way he sings is the way that I aspire to be like. The instrumentals are just as it needs to be, unique, a tale of adventure. Each piece of this song could stand as a good solo but together there is no physical greater peace.
The aesthetics of the song to me gives a beached rocky forest. The trees all a warmer vibrant green contrasted by their shadows. The feel of the warm smooth sand under your feet while hanging out with a best friend even if you don't have one. There is a dark grey mountain beside you that holds tall stocked dandelions (not puffy) sparcely spread across along with patches of moss and a small water stream.
That's my girl. She's the fire that consumes the wood of my pain. We're long distance, but she's coming to see me next week. I say I wish she had any idea how much I love her, but I think it's like looking in a mirror. Since the moment we met, my instincts told me she was the one, but my trust issues from past relationships got in my way. She's been so loving and understanding, and I'm so grateful to have her in my life. She's the one I've been waiting for. I'm truly the luckiest man in the world, and I remind her of that every day. I can't wait to finally put my arms around her. We've saved those three big words until we can truly look each other in the eye before we say them. We've said them in other languages, and found virtually every loophole to tell each other how we feel, but I already told her that I want that moment to be one neither of us will ever forget. It will be the beginning of the rest of our lives together. My cup overflows, and it's all because of her. I love you, Raquel.
@@masquerademage thank you! Life has managed to get in the way of our plans several times lately, but she's still coming down. She'll be here in about 2 weeks!! :)
This song makes me think of a wholesome group of people around a bonfire and then they run around a field while the sun is setting. No ones on their phone and everyone is just living in the moment
hi, hozier. this is my favorite song of yours. you inspired me to play a string instrument. just got my ukulele a few days ago. i'll learn your songs once i'm skilled enough:) you really are a wonderful artist. soon i will also learn the guitar.
This sounds something you can sway to on a lazy afternoon, soft warm day, and also dance to at a cold night. You can be alone in your home, or on the dance foor on some empty street or a crowded walkway. This song and his voice are Universal
I didnt like it when I just gave the first few seconds a chance. driving one sunny day in my car I let it play through and I was ashamed I judged it so early. that fucking voice change in the chorus nailed it for me lol
God listening to Hozier is an Experience his music is so Intricate, his vocals are so powerful but haunting and his lyrics are poetry I can’t get enough ❤️
If hozier was a pattern he'd be the beautiful baroque filigree pattern on the outside of an ancient mirror that holds the secrets of the universe. Don't look too long though or you get trapped
this song transports me back to age 13 with my 3 best friends trekking through the woods behind our homes, each becoming a member of the fellowship set out to rescue middle earth and all that followed. we followed one another to the very end; thru the very fires of Mordor- and even tho we lost one of the 4 of us along the way, we never forgot her; she lives on in this song.
One of my only wishes in life is to dance under a tree to this song with someone I will love through every dimension and through eternity. Forever and ever
I love this song. it sounds like a pagan song; a man who fell in love with a girl born of the fire and a girl born of the earth. It's absolutely magical, utterly entrancing
Hozier could sing my chemistry assignment and it would sound divine.

It's drinking coffee, in your chair, dim lights, no TV or phone. Just existing. ♥️
That's me almost all the time when I'm alone omg

And in that moment I swear we were infinite
“I fell in love with the fire long ago” feels like a little nod to arsonist’s lullaby
Yes it does, well spotted! :)
My thoughts exactly..
My thoughts, too.
It feels like a lot of his songs have little lyrical nods to each other and I love it
Yeah I feel like all of his songs are telling some bigger narrative.
He’s comparing his old love to trees and his new love to fire. She consumes his old loves by burning them away while he stand by to watch.
Or he forgot his old love to the willow while it was burnt but fell into the burning flames of the that?😶.it is quite passionate and pure but scary ,though..
Or i get the song wrong😅
He said he was alight too though it's the passion of fire.
Or maybe he just likes Arson, I'm ok with either tbh.

[Verse 1]
True that I saw her hair like the branch of a tree
A willow dancing on air before covering me
Under cotton and calicoes
Over canopy dappled long ago
True that love in withdrawal was the weepin' of me
That the sound of the saw must be known by the tree
Must be felled for to fight the cold
Fretted fire but that was long ago
[Chorus]
It's not tonight (Oh, oh)
Where I'm set alight (Oh, oh)
And I blink in sight (Oh, oh)
Of your blinding light (Oh, oh)
Oh, it's not tonight (Oh, oh)

Oh, let it blaze alright (Oh, oh)
Oh, but you're good to me, oh, you're good to me (Oh, oh)
Oh, but that you're good to me, baby (Oh, oh)
[Verse 2]
With the roar of the fire, my heart rose to its feet
Like the ashes of ash, I saw rise in the heat
Settled soft and as pure as snow
I fell in love with the fire long ago
With each love I cut loose, I was never the same
Watching still-living roots be consumed by the flame
I was fixed on your hand of gold
Layin' waste to my lovin' long ago
[Chorus]
But that's not tonight (Oh, oh)
Where I'm set alight (Oh, oh)
And I blink in sight (Oh, oh)
Of your blinding light (Oh, oh)
And it's not tonight (Oh, oh)
Where you hold me tight (Oh, oh)

Oh, let it blaze alright, honey (Oh, oh)
Oh, but you're good to me, oh, you're good to me (Oh, oh)
Oh, but you're good to me, baby (Oh, oh)
[Verse 3]
So in awe, there I stood as you licked off the grain
Though I've handled the wood, I still worship the flame
As long as amber of ember glows
All the "would" that I'd loved is long ago
[Chorus]
And it's not tonight (Oh, oh)
Where I'm set alight (Oh, oh)
And I blink in sight (Oh, oh)

This song is my absolute favorite off the album. This song just embodies forgetting about what other’s perceptions and just loving someone and being so in love with being loved. I just want to dance to this song while someone calls me their honey :’)
You said it perfect! 💗
Don't we all
Me and Copia frfr
This has to be my favorite song on the album, the perfect mix of sweet and heartfelt yet fiery and strong in the chorus... I love it so much I can’t even explain
he's so good with poetic singing. he's analogy of things is so ancient and magical, it touches everyone's old soul.
Bro hozier is literally like the jesus of music
This is one of the only songs that makes me feel butterflies in my stomach
How do they taste?
Hozier is the definition of poetry. Look up the meaning of poetry and you will find Hozier with his flowers and instruments.
This song penetrates to your veins and brain making you remember all those perfect Nostalgic moments you ever had😩
See, I see it differently:
I think he's comparing the types of people he loved to elements.
I love how in some songs comments are just so positive
Your voice in the chorus is stunning. I mean, your voice is always stunning, but in those moments it is particularly so. Very stretched, raw, visceral, reaching out so deep. God, thanks for allowing us to listen to this.
Hozier has the best most poetic lyrics of anyone I've heard in the last decade.
i don’t think i’ll ever be the same after listening to hozier. this music makes me want to run away in the best way ever. like i could kindly and gently decompose. like i could mean something without ever being known.
Hozier, Ben Howard, Gregory Alan Isakov…just on a completely other level of music and lyrics. Makes you miss shit you never had but know that you want. It’s poetry and beauty and kindness and sadness all at the same time.
You forgot to mention Bon Iver😅
And it's an all consuming Love 💗
Agree
Hard to show this kind of music to people because no one really stops and REALLY listens
Good god, this guy is talented. I never heard of him until Almost Sweet Music came on my radio a few weeks ago but his music is insanely good. There are so many layers to each song; the passion is unreal.
lol just heard him from sweet music? wow I like his old shit and just started getting into this new album. sweet music being one of the songs that convinced me he still had it haha
this is THE official breakdown song. nothing hits like that chorus. NOTHING
This song feels like hope, a peaceful and empowering kind of hope
Something about this song today moved me to tears. By god, Hozier, you've done the most and I am so grateful.
Hozier could recite the digits of pi yet make it seem like such a divine song, absolutely ineffable even!
This fills me with sunshine and melancholy. Thank you for creating so many masterpieces.
Damn. Hozier just makes me so happy. I swear I wouldn’t know what would happen to me if I didn’t discover him. Like i could be having the worst day ever and all I would have to do is listen to his voice
The song “Be” and “Would that I” both have the words “ be good to me”. This person better be good! Hozier deserves goodness!! 😇😇
Not every musician can be poetic. Hozier is not just a musician.
I love reading the comment section of songs like this, because I swear this type of music attracts the most beautiful souls 🥹💗
Absolutely sobbing, and I have to leave for work in 10 minutes, oh dear
I love you, Raquel.
elegant ahh writing
this is incredibly sweet. i hope you two had the best time getting to see each other in real life.
@@masquerademage thank you! Life has managed to get in the way of our plans several times lately, but she's still coming down. She'll be here in about 2 weeks!! :)
The first minute of this song is some of the most soothing music to ever bless my ears
Listening to this song while you know a loved one is being Cremated is surreal. Heartbreaking and healing all at the same time.
This song makes me think of a wholesome group of people around a bonfire and then they run around a field while the sun is setting. No ones on their phone and everyone is just living in the moment
"Though I've handled the wood, I still worship the flame" that line gives me chills every time
I discovered Hozier a few months ago, and I fell in love with his music..so heartfelt and beautiful. It feeds my soul....
That chorus gives me life, thank you Hozier for your music.
The only God who answers prayers. Thank you Hozier!!!
I love all the songs but this one is my favourite. The melody, the lyrics, it just makes you reminisce the memories you did not have.
hi, hozier. this is my favorite song of yours. you inspired me to play a string instrument. just got my ukulele a few days ago. i'll learn your songs once i'm skilled enough:) you really are a wonderful artist. soon i will also learn the guitar.
I love the way he sings about love, you can tell he really cares
probably one of the most romantic songs that I've heard in a long while...it really is soothing
Hozier’s first album is tough to compete with, but he sure is doing it with this one.
This song is filled with immense glory, and Hozier's articulation is impeccable and brilliant
This sounds something you can sway to on a lazy afternoon, soft warm day, and also dance to at a cold night. You can be alone in your home, or on the dance foor on some empty street or a crowded walkway.
This song and his voice are Universal
I saw Hozier in Vienna, Austria about ten days ago and it was magical.
This man makes the world sound worth it simply cause he exists in it. Thank whoever for this Fae that blesses our ears
The chorus is so unexpected I love it😭😭😭
I didnt like it when I just gave the first few seconds a chance. driving one sunny day in my car I let it play through and I was ashamed I judged it so early. that fucking voice change in the chorus nailed it for me lol
Thank you soo much for your music.
Sometimes I can't breathe listening to him. He's just so beautifully intence
this song transports me back to age 13 with my 3 best friends trekking through the woods behind our homes, each becoming a member of the fellowship set out to rescue middle earth and all that followed. we followed one another to the very end; thru the very fires of Mordor- and even tho we lost one of the 4 of us along the way, we never forgot her; she lives on in this song.
One of my only wishes in life is to dance under a tree to this song with someone I will love through every dimension and through eternity. Forever and ever
Even after 3 years, the AMAZING quality of his voice hasn't faided a bit
Not gonna lie, this legit makes me feel like I'm in a fantasy story, and I'm here for it.
Hozier is one of the rare artists that makes me have goosebumps with nearly every song
10/10 Best singer songwriter of the century
Can anyone recommend more songs like this, literally been listening to this all day ❤
Hamilton Leithauser + Rostam - In a Black Out
I love this song. it sounds like a pagan song; a man who fell in love with a girl born of the fire and a girl born of the earth. It's absolutely magical, utterly entrancing
