I think one of the biggest red flags with metazoo is almost all the discussion you see around the cards talked about them as stocks rather than as gamepieces.

Just played a game with my brother today. The game is really all over the fucking place, but I kinda like it a weird way. The life points probably should've been halved though, it's way too high. I like Metazoo a lot. I think it´s very fun to play actually. It was quite difficult in the beginning but once you´ve learnt it, it is very fun. Sad that it´s dead.
I was working at a shop where they came in showing metazoo and they kept saying it’s nft like. The entire aesthetic of the game really unappealing when majority if not all of my customers base is into either anime or realistic art work. I tried pushing some points for opposing the game and they kept saying “money potential” as the only valid point. Either way I didn’t pick it up and another colleague of mine did. He tried so hard and the game died after three months for him and he bought cases and so much products. He closed down his shop because he put everything he had into it after he got sold on the nft idea. He recovered but ultimately metazoo has been religiously avoided in a huge number of shops and some have it just because they can’t sell it.

The way id improve metazoo in terms of game design is to change the way the cards works with lower health or single digit something like aura cost 2 power 2 it does this end of it . Probably stick to just 7 colors or types. Subtypes being more clear. Also 4th walls effects are gone. Probabbly id replace them with cards that sre more general and let people build archetypes like spells and items that have synergy with some cards

You guys are hilarious! Entertaining and educational. I appreciate and collect Metazoo for the cool Cryptids. Same with Pokemon, love the artwork and the story behind Metazoo. Ripping packs and chasing cards way more fun than actual tcg gameplay which is complex and difficult to just pick up and play.
MetaZoo was a weird one. Conceptually the game is meant to feel like someone found a game in their attic from the 90s when everyone was trying to make a tcg and no one had any idea what that meant. So youve got mechanics that are like board games or party games. Reminds me of a janky unset from magic. But in execution, the card text is more like flavor text. Theyre collectible cards, no game, in the way like youd be playing another game and theyve got an in universe pokemon-like and the text is just gibberish meant to evoke something you recognize. Or being treated like sports cards. It got kickstarted in covid when card collecting spiked and everyone was looking for the next thing they could grab that might spike, kinda like the 90s comic boom when people bought 8 copies of Jim Lee Xmen 1 thinking that was going to be worth what Superman 1 or Amazing Fantasy 15 were. Personally i like a lot of the visuals, they remind me of a 90s or early game like DND where all the art was kinda bad. I dont think its meant to be judged by 30 years of institutional expectation and homogenization. Its a little bit of a bummer. A game could try to be different and interesting if it had the financial cushion of collectors to rely on. It got bought and is being relaunched and I expect Meta abilities to be gone but thats half the charm. Then again I like un-sets too.
I know online, places like reddit, a lot of people shit on the artwork but honestly I think its cool. I get a secret mountain fort awesome vibe from the artwork, or aqua teen hunger force. Feels very garbage pail kids, or something youd see off of adult swim. Kind of like divorced dads, but now that too is an actual card game. Albeit cooler and better quality cards.
Any game that has both Summoning Sickness and the ability to attack everything your opponent plays is always going to be an uphill battle. Add to that being ablle to do so without damage and that's a strong formula for a 0/10 gameplay experience.
This card game came out during a very difficult time. Don’t be surprised if Metazoo cards sky rock in price due to COVD-era nostalgia in the near future. Finally am glad to see people have a legitmate disccusion about metazoo as a card game now that the sellouts have pulled put of this failing franchise. I remember trying to play this game with my friend with both of us being mtg players and it was terrible say the least. It felt as awful as yugioh before it eas yugioh aka bandai due to the vague rules and terrible wording on the texts. My final criticism is the quality of the cards themselves, they straight up feel like index cards
I have a personal hatred of this game as a Digimon tcg fan. The area I live in doesn’t have any card stores that run the game, so the only place near me that usually has cards is Target. However, these days, they've had fewer and fewer packs and decks in favor of, you guessed it, AN ENTIRE WALL OF METAZOO. They have decks, they have packs, they have the bizarre Hello Kitty collab that I'm convinced is unsanctioned. All of which have been untouched for months because NO ONE PLAYS METAZOO.
The online game, Cryptid Clash, should've been released way earlier than they did. It made the game easy to play and was a good entry point like how I learned magic on the xbox 360 (MTG was daunting to learn, at first, as well). Too little, too late. Still enjoy it since I like Cryptids. Never saw it as an investment and never sold any. The NFTs definitely were a red flag for me.
People were tryna make this the next collectible game. While there was nothing too it. No rarity, everything was fake manufactured. It’s great I haven’t heard about them in a long time hopefully everyone that invested went bankrupt
i almost bought this game at a walmart checkout, but i decided not to because the box was the most disgusting shade of barf green i had ever seen in my life.
Well, now that the game is pretty much dead and card prices are dropping, it's much cheaper to play and collect if you should want to. The game probably would have been better if it hadn't been hevely aimed at speculators and not people who just want to play a card game. The problems with the game that are pointed out in the video seem to be pretty accurate. The 4th wall effects were probably a really bad idea for a trading card game although Pokémon did a few now old joke cards that had 4th wall like effects but the difference is that in Pokémon they were joke cards that you couldn't play with in a competitive setting.
I'm a big fan of the art and general concept of the game. It's like a good medium between Monster in my Pocket and Pokemon. I love seeing the mythological beasts. The creator on the other hand... Yeesh As for the game ... Yeah y'all said it all. It's a gimmick game that tried to be more? I dunno i hope the nee owner revamps the actual rules to make it actually playable and leave these gimmicky rules to specific sets or whatever.
1000 health is insane with how low the attacks numbers seem to get to in this game, so if you are getting your ass beat you are stuck there getting your ass beat for like a good couple more rounds then you need to unless you sit there and think "no i still have life points so maybe i can destiny draw my way out of getting punched in the face 20 more times cause i have the shithouse toilet toad that gives me 22 attack if i live in Georgia and my opponent isn't thinking in Hebrew"
Biohazard equipment really is the only correct way to interact with this game, F*ck it. There was certainly some charm to be had here, it's like if somebody made an MTG Un-Set into a full on game. A TCG with a more looney casual feel. Though really the way it is here it doesn't seem to be as much fun when the rules start dissolving like a sand castle at high tide. Certainly not something people needed to spend way to much time, money, and freaking crypto into. Oh well, lets all try and learn from this dumpster fire. Good banter between you two though, that was entertaining.
aah... the game everyone talked about and invested thanks to some youtubers but nobody played since the artwork was ugly and the gameplay was terrible one of THE biggest scam. I got the game recommended as several youtubers made box openings and ruby investment was like BUY IT IT WILL BE EXPENSIVE!!! and i never saw any gameplay videos so for me it was like "ist it REALLY a game or just a get rich quickly scam"?
Metazoo has a bit of a learning curve. It uses a combination of folklore and real creatures so the cards abilities sometimes make a lot of sense. Also the first set, Cryptid nation was slow or unbalanced when only using those cards as you do in this video. Metazoo eventually came out with 7 full sets and more than 10 mini sets. If you spend the time and energy to utilize cards across the entire platform the deck creation is more fun and balanced. Overall though the game itself is an investment of time and is not something that can be just picked up and played.
But fr though, I like the concept of the game. I just don't like the execution, and how everyone treated the game like stock options instead of... you know. A card game lol
Hellz Yeah! Connor should have won FQ the rules you’re a coward for blocking the attack redirect Carl. It was actually hilarious in order to have a good end game you had to homebrew 😂
Should of made a video of the burn pit and put all this product into it, would be glorious to see. Man this game is trasssshhhhhh, I've designed better cards than this!
Yikes! I wondered how this game was played. Looks like they needed to do more research concerning game play. 🥶 It's kind of the same wall I ran into when I was trying to make my own TCG back in 6th grade! I still have the cards, but the focus was more on aesthetics, not game play. With MetaZoo, seems like from all the stories around its failure was it's main focus was to make money and become the next Pokémon. The desire to go back to the drawing board to create my own TCG has gotten stronger after seeing and studying MetaZoo!
I think one of the biggest red flags with metazoo is almost all the discussion you see around the cards talked about them as stocks rather than as gamepieces.

People were tryna make this the next collectible game. While there was nothing too it. No rarity, everything was fake manufactured. It’s great I haven’t heard about them in a long time hopefully everyone that invested went bankrupt
Yeah, the quality of the cards is horrible
Is wrong for me to own 6 playmats of meta zoo because I watch your video on it the first time
Yes and no lol
You do you boo 😘
When i saw people raving over metazoo at cons and buying out boxes of this i knew it was gonna be a dumpster fire.
Literally a scam
Literally Nobody:
Metazoo: " let's combine magic unglued with Pokemon it will make a good game"
What could possibly go wrong?
I loved this 🤣 I first found your channel from the first Metazoo video. I always hated this game
Us too!
Same!
I think you need to check his ID to make sure he's not 13.
I did…. Unfortunately it checked out
i almost bought this game at a walmart checkout, but i decided not to because the box was the most disgusting shade of barf green i had ever seen in my life.
You dodged the biggest bullet of your life my friend
What's wrong with cosmic cards ???
Played incorrectly but it’s ok
We don't really care with MetaZoo tbh
Try Ashes Reborn sometime!
Will do!
Believe me when I say its you guys not the game lol try that Disney princess game
👀
Well, now that the game is pretty much dead and card prices are dropping, it's much cheaper to play and collect if you should want to. The game probably would have been better if it hadn't been hevely aimed at speculators and not people who just want to play a card game. The problems with the game that are pointed out in the video seem to be pretty accurate. The 4th wall effects were probably a really bad idea for a trading card game although Pokémon did a few now old joke cards that had 4th wall like effects but the difference is that in Pokémon they were joke cards that you couldn't play with in a competitive setting.
Nah, I don't want to bring a plague into my house
I'm a big fan of the art and general concept of the game. It's like a good medium between Monster in my Pocket and Pokemon. I love seeing the mythological beasts. The creator on the other hand... Yeesh
As for the game ... Yeah y'all said it all. It's a gimmick game that tried to be more? I dunno i hope the nee owner revamps the actual rules to make it actually playable and leave these gimmicky rules to specific sets or whatever.
We'll see what happens, but I'm not holding my breath
1000 health is insane with how low the attacks numbers seem to get to in this game, so if you are getting your ass beat you are stuck there getting your ass beat for like a good couple more rounds then you need to unless you sit there and think "no i still have life points so maybe i can destiny draw my way out of getting punched in the face 20 more times cause i have the shithouse toilet toad that gives me 22 attack if i live in Georgia and my opponent isn't thinking in Hebrew"
Yeah, being able to target fresh creatures for an attack before they even have a chance to use them is such an insane gameplay advantage.
It’s poo
Biohazard equipment really is the only correct way to interact with this game, F*ck it. There was certainly some charm to be had here, it's like if somebody made an MTG Un-Set into a full on game. A TCG with a more looney casual feel. Though really the way it is here it doesn't seem to be as much fun when the rules start dissolving like a sand castle at high tide. Certainly not something people needed to spend way to much time, money, and freaking crypto into. Oh well, lets all try and learn from this dumpster fire.
Good banter between you two though, that was entertaining.
Glad you enjoyed it!

You burned the bayonet, right?
And the table. Get rid of the table.
I've got bad news, sire.
aah... the game everyone talked about and invested thanks to some youtubers but nobody played since the artwork was ugly and the gameplay was terrible
one of THE biggest scam. I got the game recommended as several youtubers made box openings and ruby investment was like BUY IT IT WILL BE EXPENSIVE!!! and i never saw any gameplay videos so for me it was like "ist it REALLY a game or just a get rich quickly scam"?
I mean, there is technically a game there... but in this state it's barely playable at best
@@TheTestTable1 :-) well they had to make some rules to make it a Trading Card GAME even if that was possibly not the main focus
Video two asking for Warlord.
Video three asking for Redakai.
MetaZoo fed spotted
But fr though, I like the concept of the game. I just don't like the execution, and how everyone treated the game like stock options instead of... you know. A card game lol
@@TheTestTable1 agreed
Carl did not in fact erase that text
Thank you for this comment. Otherwise, Carl would've forgot forever.
This looks like simplified Magic. Why would I play this? I’m a yugioh player?
Based
Somehow this was the worst/best review of metazoo/card games in general
everyone stay away from this one!!! ☣️ Metazoo is a hazard to your wallet
It's just a hazard
Hellz Yeah! Connor should have won FQ the rules you’re a coward for blocking the attack redirect Carl. It was actually hilarious in order to have a good end game you had to homebrew 😂
Just had to get through the mountains
“You might have killed my creatures, but can you climb the mountains!?”
Have you ever heard of lightseekers tcg?
Not until now
IT DOES EXIST??????
Unfortunately
The GeeGee bird had flying and was not a legal target for attack
But my salamanders were giant, so I'm pretty sure they could reach it :)

Should of made a video of the burn pit and put all this product into it, would be glorious to see. Man this game is trasssshhhhhh, I've designed better cards than this!
I believe it
MetaZoo-19
Truth
Red shirt guy is a control freak and it makes the videos hard to watch the “better than thou” personality is not working
I have a name :(
Edit: It's hard to keep my ego in check when I beat Connors ass every week lol
As the guy who gets his ass kicked every week… I can vouch for
Meta ew
Got eeeem
Yikes! I wondered how this game was played. Looks like they needed to do more research concerning game play. 🥶
It's kind of the same wall I ran into when I was trying to make my own TCG back in 6th grade!
I think you need to check his ID to make sure he's not 13.
Yeah, lemme just dox myself real quick as I forget to blur the ID lol
