    Wow you are lucky to be in a so smooth weather... Here in Quebec as we have 3 months at an averaged -15° F. Our codes does not allow to pass pipe in exterior walls as this is restricted to insulation and can not be chrushed... Here you would have to do a box in a corner, over the exterior wall drywall for you vent or in a middle wall, in between rooms using the joists gap to reach it... On external walls, only electricity is allowed, over the polyethylene sheet passing behind forrence in the air barrier.
    Climates really affect the codes and ultimately the cost of construction...
    Interesting to see the differences...

    I agree with you 100% in regards to new construction vs service. I have been in the glass trade for 42 years and I have always enjoyed the service side of the trade. Installing window systems in large towers was never my cup of tea. Keep up the great work. 🇨🇦

    Even tough you don't like new construction plumbing, you have to admit, it is nice to go on auto-pilot sometimes. I am a Journeyman Electrician and I don't care for Residential work at all, I prefer the Industrial work myself. It is nice sometimes, doing electrical work on my own house, to just work without having to think- auto-pilot as they say. Sometimes it is relaxing for me, even if boring sometimes. I really enjoy your videos, keep up the good work.

    You might have a problem with that kitchen sink drain. The inspector may want to see a san tee sitting vertical so that the vent runs vertical to above flood rim before running horizontal. At least that's what the inspectors around here want to see. Everything looks nice and clean! 👍

    DEL DEREK - I still come across lead on water and gas pipes here in the UK. And large size waste pipe found in iron is still very common in older properties. Usually sealed with what we call Denzo tape. It's a roll of fibre tape impregnated with wax. We still sell it and sometimes it does get you out of the s...t, literally and metaphorically, so to speak.

    • @alleigator68
      @alleigator68 6 лет назад

      There are no lead gas pipes in the Uk.
      The metal soil pipes you are mentioning above were made of cast iron.The joints were made with fire rope and cast hot lead.
      In my 35 years as a plumber and registered gas engineer i never saw a joint with Denzo tape.
      Denzo tape is for a diy and bodger's work,i never bought or used Denzo tape in my life,i always did a proper repair so it can last.
      Public buildings still use cast iron pipes outside for soil and copper inside inside because of their strength.

    • @sammy_uksamwise5604
      @sammy_uksamwise5604 6 лет назад

      Wow, no lead pipe carrying gas at all in any property in the whole of uk. Checked 'em all have you. But who am I to argue with a 35 year old veteran. Never seen a toilet sealed onto a waste outlet with Denzo? In my 2 months as a RUclipsr and commentator I can't understand, if they're still selling Denzo tape, where are they're putting it all. Only for DIYers? Funny that, cause when I worked for 25 years in the chemical Industry it was used on pipework all over the chemical plants on our COMAH site. Good enough for industry but not a domestic property right. I guess we were just bodging it up though, that's the chemical industry for you. People on a budget use Denzo when they can't afford £90 an hour plus VAT charges, and it might look ugly but it does work and it does last. But of course you wouldn't know cause you haven't seen it, used it or even researched it. It's for bodgers right, ...in industry.

    • @alleigator68
      @alleigator68 6 лет назад

      The man on this channel was a professional plumber and he is working to regulations,are you advising him to use Denzo tape on the joints? are you a plumber or gas engineer?

    Guessing you don't get near as cold in S Idaho as we do in western Canada. Would never put any sewer drain lines; especially traps; in an exterior wall. Even the vertical lines will eventually build up with ice and everything stops and freezes solid.

    Around the 7 minute mark at the laundry area, you can have a p trap in the cold zone in the wall cavity? Even if it passes it doesn't seem wise.

Yes, we tried to run a roof vent but if it was not possible then we installed one under the sink. I had one in my house and never had a single issue for the 4 years that I lived in it.

    I know nothing about PEX, but have seen a lot of discussions of failures. I copied one that kind of sums it up (Ithink) and might be worth researching;
    Before you plumb the house, Seriously consider using the Uponor (Pex A) System. The connectors are Way, Way cheaper than the "Shark Bite" system you are using for this project. AND, they are Way, Way, easier to install then those compression rings, especially in tight spaces. I have recently chosen Uponor/Pex A for my project and the "Expansion" system is so much better than the "Compression" system because the fittings are always being contracted against by the PEx and Uponor Ring. By-the-way, I am replacing a "Compression ring" Pex system that has begun to leak !!!!! Unfortunately, Home Depot and Lowes only carry compression ring style Pex and fittings, so, you will need to find a "Real Plumbing" supplier in your area (also very available over the Internet. Check out videos on the ProPex/Uponor system.

    • @RedPoppyRanch
      @RedPoppyRanch  6 лет назад

      I've used wirsbo for years. Wirsbo expansion rings and cold weather do not get along. I would never use sharkbites. They are not approved for in wall applications in most counties. PEX and crimp rings is what I will use.

    • @micahwatson9017
      @micahwatson9017 6 лет назад

      lastniceguy1 - the compression ring system actually has a higher pressure rating than Uponor/Wirsbo. The crimp system is the one to stay away from as it is very unreliable and prone to failure. However, the compression ring system flaw is that the fittings choke down the flow, so you either need to oversize the pipe or be conservative with the number of fittings and system length. That's what I like about Uponor/Wirsbo...the fittings are full flow - same inner diameter as the pipe. Heath is right about Uponor/Wirsbo being a pain in the butt to install in cold weather.

    • @lastniceguy1
