- The Hebrew Bible contains many interesting and supernatural creatures. One of the most mysterious of these being the Nephilim. First introduced in Genesis 6:4, the Nephilim are described as ‘heroes of old, men of renown, but the identity and origin of the Nephilim are still surrounded in mystery to this day.

The theory of the Nephilim being half demon fits when you think about the thousands of mythologies where gods mate with mortal women and produce powerful offspring. Genesis also says that Nephilim were 'men of old, men of renown.' Like Hercules, Gilgamesh, or Maui.

You have to read the Bible yourself to understand that the bible project does get things wrong because they’re simply summarizing but also sometimes not telling the story right. It’s the same way many believers only cite verses to prove a point but never speak about the story that lead to said verse. You have to study the word of God for yourself to understand it because alot of summary videos can be misleading at times.
Like the Bible Projects Ecclesiates video? It’s Solomon thats writing that book, yet they make it seem like it’s a random teacher saying “life is meaningless”, when it’s simply Solomon saying all the wisdom he has gained from God? Has shown him the treasures of this life are all meaningless because after it’s all said & done? We will be infront of God with none of those things, so it is all meaningless.

@@markbowers4785except this fellow is a lot less educated and does not understand Hebrew. He just talked about Hell in the Old Testament. It’s a Greek construct. Hell is a New Testament conflation. He meant Sheol. It’s just the Jewish place of the dead. Words like grave, pit, and trash dump all get translated to Hell for some reason by translators. I don’t think anything in the Old Testament says fallen angels were cast into eternal fire.

If someone says, there was violence in the city, in those days, when the gangs the north came down to the those in the south ... it's pretty clear they are not saying that the violence preceded the clash of gangs, but that the violence is the result of the gangs clashing.
The presence of the Nephilim before and after the flood is often overlooked. It seems that if they were the offspring of fallen angels and humans then there would have had to be a first incursion (pre flood) and a second incursion (post flood) to account for their existence.
God spared Noah because he was pure (imo meaning the last purely human blood because Noah was by no means perfect), but his children and their wives, and Noah's wife were brought as well. Meaning they may have had Nephilim bloodlines like the rest of humanity that later re-emerged after humanity repopulated. Genes can be tricky that way.
@@williamforsythe5850 This is probably the case. Genesis states that Noah was righteous, which is why he was selected to carry out God's purpose and build the Ark. However, the genes of the Anakim could have been present in his wife or his sons wives, which is likely why the sons of Anak are present in Canaan years after the flood.
I've sometimes speculated that one of the reasons God instituted the flood, other than the fact almost every human on earth had rejected God, was that nature had been corrupted to the point it needed to be wiped out. If fallen angles were the actual nephilim and bred with humans at some point, it is also likely they were created other genetically modified abominations, like Minotaurs and other hybrid animals from many mythologies like Greek & Egyptian etc.
Who knows what actually was happening pre-flood times. It could have been crazy, and if people were actually living 800-900 years things could have gotten absolutely nuts in soo many ways.

The flood wasn't global. It covered all the land of that region of mesopotamia. The Hebrew word for earth and land was the same; Eret.
I think the Nephilim (amongst other peculiar humanoid races/creatures described in the Bible) are akin to the mythological heroes/gods/demigods of many mythologies. There are many similarities between the two, and even their origins of being the offsprings of demons/angels/gods and humans, having peculiar features and abilities that are unlike that of humans. It's pretty neat to think about how these mythologies evolved and developed in different cultures, but yet still have some many similarities, really proving that there is much more to these legends than just imagination of ancient people.
I've had similar ideas. Especially when you look at the epic of Gilgamesh. There's a lot of similarities.
I think this is a very sound interpretation, In my opinion there are many things in the bible that stem from ancient myths. In a scholarly perspective, we are not perfect transcribers of gods word, people use it to sin even today, and why would humans be fit for understanding the full berth of gods word?
It is very likely that many original stories have been changed or modified with the development of the religion, though (religiously) the stories that we can disprove with physical (or lack thereof) evidence, should still be taken as serious metaphor or allegory (though in the case of allegory we may not know what is being allegorized).

Question… Doesn’t the Bible talk about the existence of giants/Nephilim AFTER THE FLOOD? If the evil in the world (as a result of) the Nephilim was the reason God brought the flood, why are they still around after the flood?
Because some of the Nephilim survived the flood...how? I personally don't know...but what followed was the descendants of the Nephilim..you also have the Rephaim... the question is, what happened to the spirits of the Nephelim who died in the flood...could they be the demons that roam around today?
@@DreSoul2049 This certainly is a mystery. I believe God Almighty achieved his purpose with the flood. All living creatures (human and animal) not on the ark were destroyed. Perhaps the spiritual realm plays into this? The Bible appears to be silent on that.

A different interpretation I’ve come to lean towards: The Nephilim was a group name like Romans or Egyptians. Something we miss many times in wanting to interpret everything literal in the Bible is, like other speech, there are tons of metaphors that weren’t intended literally. Consider, Nephilim, a group that were “giants among men” (aka great warriors but I also think there was a great stature indicated. Sons of God in Job do appear to reference son heavenly council but it’s two books from two different times in cultural history. Phrases can mean different things depending on the literary and cultural context. There’s only two, maybe three references to this story. One is the Book of Enoch. This is where most of the ideas come from. It is an extra biblical book, not accepted as God’s Word, it’s like Pilgrims Progress. The NT writers do reference but I reference Pilgrims progress-great principles but not the Bible. Next reference, the 10 spies were awful eyewitnesses who were exaggerating the height. So you’re going to base the understanding of this passage off poor eyewitness testimony and extra-biblical source material, both are unreliable. The reference in Jude depends on how you put the punctuation (I don’t know enough Greek to research this) but the note to sexual misconduct may only be be a an added note about Sodom and Gomorrah. The primary note of fallen angels is they stepped out of their position of authority which is a reference to another event. So the interpretation of fallen angels having a race of giants through sex is based on bad testimony, non-biblical source material, and a questionable New Testament obscure verse. So conider, the Nephilim were “Sons of the gods” a title given to kings in ancient times, they were taking lots of wives, abusing people, etc. This answers a lot of problems with the other interpretation, like after the Great Flood you have giants again. Giants being abnormally-large humans. Note we still have giants (abnormally tall humans) today that if they were trained as warriors from birth like Goliath would be terrifying on the battlefield, especially when the average human height in ancient times was much shorter than today. There’s uncertainty in exactly how long a cubit was, depending on how you want to set a cubit Goliath was anywhere from 8’ to like 12-13’. Some people miss that some measurements of giants in the Bible if you want to go to extremes would make them 24’ tall. After a point there’s a limit in the physical laws God put in place in creation that limits how tall a person can get. If you want to accept that evil can miraculously create something that defies the physical laws God wove into creation…perhaps…but you’re arguing that demons and evil is more powerful than God. But, In the end, while this is a fun discussion, we have to keep in mind that it isn’t essential to faith or salvation. There isn’t enough information given and whatever you want to think you have to make some leaps of assumptions, not actual facts because we don’t have them. Too many times as Christians we get in this Us vs Them mindset of the Works of the Flesh and James’ Wisdom from Below, and insist my group is right without considering other viewpoints and not realize how much assumption and half truth we’re relying on. Reason why I love discussing this stuff but it isn’t essential. If the Bible says it I do believe it’s true and will be proven true but there’s some interpretations that aren’t clear exactly what was going on.
Profound look at the subject. So the spies may have used the Gen 6 Nephilim legend to describe the great size/stature or status of the people of the land. Perhaps an exaggeration out of fear, used in cautioning their fellows to abandon the capture of Canaan.
I mean, the original Nephilim could just mean a group of tall and brutal people who bullied other tribes and nations with the advantage of their size and war experience.
It is difficult to fathom how spirits can marry and father demigods via women. I can imagine God placing a baby in Mary's womb - He is almighty and creator - but is it not a stretch with spirits below him?

Jude quotes from 1 Enoch, a fascinating second Temple work, not inspired scripture but a very popular read in Jesus's generation, they were manuscripts of Enoch found within the Dead Sea scrolls.

I believe that Genesis is simply referring to both of them , father and children when referring to the Nephilim. The term is referring to the Fallen Angels ( Nephilim) that were on earth on those days , and also after when the Sons of God ( Fallen Angels = Nephilim) took human women and had children (Nephilim) with them

Based on my personal research, I believe that the Nephilim are half human half angel. With that said, my theory is this: Those angels were the Greek, Roman, South American, Asian & African Gods that our ancestors called, "Zeus", "Odin", "Quetzalcoatl", "Shakti", etc. etc. Our ancestors were not stupid. They saw something. These "Gods" were not a figment of their imagination. Also, if you look at the depictions of the "Gods" on the monoliths and pyramids, what do you see on their backs? Bird wings! Now you have to ask yourself, did our ancestors put the bird wings on their backs for decoration? Or did they draw what they saw?

Notice the word “when” in the verse, when the sons of God had intercourse with the daughters of man.

Even thou Enoh is not part of the Bible, I think we find a lot of information about the fallen angels and the giants in his book.
Also what I found interesting is that ancient greek mythology has stories about some gods that mate with nimphes(human females) and the resulting children were giants. Maybe greeks saw Nephilim creatures and instead of fallen angles they thought that Nephilim's father were their gods

If we literally translate verse 4 from chapter 6 - “In those days there were fallen ones on the earth (nephilim)..." we are already told that the fallen angels were already on earth, from which it can be explained how there are different creatures in all cultures - centaurs, ours, etc.
2. Genealogy of Adam. It is said that Adam was created in the image and likeness of God, and his descendants began to be born in the image and likeness of Adam, but since man sinned and therefore man is also a fallen being.
3. Cain's line ends at the seventh descendant; nowhere is it mentioned that the Cainites and Sethites intersected with each other, and even more so if God's command was to fill the Earth, then why is it from a human union Giants began to be born with man, and moreover, why did this become inconvenient for God?
4. It is important to note that even after the Flood, various idols appear that do not have bodies that are invisible... Are these not the same descendants of the Rephaim and Anakim, who in the days of the Flood were deprived of their flesh and have now become invisible spirits to whom heaven is barred5. It is written that we will judge the angels, but if there are faithful angels who did not sin, then how did those who rebelled against God fall? 6. Remember the exorcism and images in Revelation where fallen spirits can inhabit people and even cause harm, but only with the permission of God. God didn't plan them to be the creatures He wanted created, they are determined to still be on Earth, along with Satan, and those angels are imprisoned in darkness for the great judgment

I think to know the answer to the question of nephlim would also mean you’ve learned whatever hitler thought he knew about angelic bloodlines. Furthermore how were they able to repopulate after the flood of Noah? I’ve heard some say the gene never effected women and because of that one of the wives of Noah’s sons carried the gene over. But though genesis says what it says about the angels in that account, who’s to say they did not do it before as well? I’ve always believed angels had their own free will as well because if not then how was Lucifer able to oppose God? This has always been such an interesting subject to me.

Like, look at the great number of occasions when demons are called (like the Legion Demon who possesed a herd of pigs and killed them after), it is clear that they spoke as one and were able to talk and even request to jesus to let them pick the pigs herd. So yes. They have free will. But they are demons, and we were talking about Angeles. Well, I hope there is no debate that demons are nothing but "fallen angels"

From my understanding, the creation of the earth in genesis, wasn’t a creation but a recreation.
The earth was inhabited with creatures , the nephelims and other creatures before the fallen angels were casted and brought about its destruction.
So God recreated the earth and for the first time added a being who had His image(human)
But kept them in a seperate place(the garden).
But this nephilim, creatures and fallen angels were in other places of the new earth.
So Adam and eve were casted from the garden and made to live along side these beings.
More reasons why after cain killed Abel, and God placed a mark on Cain, He said nobody should harm cain, who was God referring to if not these being already in the earth, cause Adam and Eve other children wouldn’t have been the ones God was referring to.

I always believed that the Nephilim were the offspring of fallen angels and human women. That’s what I believed God was talking about when he saw that the world was full of abominations, therefore bringing the flood. the Nephilim alongside other corrupt beings.

And yes, they existed. Also, their descendants are still around, only the earth cannot sustain them and the change in atmosphere doesn't allow for them to reach such sizes any longer.
The "Sons of Yah (who you may call God)" can be angels or men. Basically some of his creations which = his sons.
However, these specific group of angels came down and bred with women. this made them Separated for Yah cause they defiled themselves with women.
Ps, They can have a form like that of a human (you can likely find multiple instances a person couldn't tell an angel and human apart in scripture) nonetheless, these human and angel off spring are the Nephilim.

The Book of Enoch was proven to be written by a guy pretending to be Enoch abour 1700 years ago. There's no credible information in it.
@@AdventureSMBW There can likely be truth and lies in it just like the bible. As the bible is simply a book with parts of scripture put into it called "Bible." It doesn't contain all of scripture. Hense why people should pray for a double portion of discernment. Just like the bible has been tampered with we don't just discard it as all false. Same can be said for the apocrypha books.

The most satisfying theory I have seen concerning the Nephilim comes from Fr. Stephen De Young. It is a bit involved, but it concerns the sexual pagan rituals of the time.

Very easily solved. There was no separate race known as nephilim. The term 'Sons of God' refers to the people on earth who were faithful to Him. So the descendants of Seth, and kept His commandments and worshipped Him. The other people of the world were the descendants of Cain who abandoned God and were not faithful. So the descendants of Seth saw that the daughters of Cain were pretty, and through marriage lost their loyalty to God and worshipped false gods. That's how everyone turned out bad enough to need a flood to destroy the world.
Angels don't have the capacity for reproduction at all, so demons (fallen angels that followed Satan's rebellion) can't either.
The giant size of people can be explained through genetic vitality, which is still present today (think of a Liger, for example).

IMO the Nephilim refers to the Denasovians or the Neantherhals, or the builders of Giza and Atlantis (prior to the great flood)

For myself, a Christian of 52 years and a student of the Bible, I'm pretty sure they're a mutation of humanity. "Sons of God" in the passage may mean 'men' or 'angels'. The literal meaning is 'mighty ones'. Hebrew is notoriously ambiguous and metaphorical in its definitions.
Here's the whole passage:
When human beings began to increase in number on the earth and daughters were born to them, 2 the sons of God saw that the daughters of humans were beautiful, and they married any of them they chose. 3 Then the Lord said, “My Spirit will not contend with[a] humans forever, for they are mortal[b]; their days will be a hundred and twenty years.”
4 The Nephilim were on the earth in those days-and also afterward-when the sons of God went to the daughters of humans and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown.

Ignoring 'sons of God', what do we see? We see 'humans' mentioned eleven times. The whole passage is about the sins of humanity and God's decision to punish them. If these are fallen angels, they are already punished. If they sinned again with human women, why aren't they punished more?
God is not unjust. He doesn't let the guilty go free. It's more likely these are mighty men from Adam's line who fell in the flood. Men sinned and were punished in the flood. Perhaps the giantism arose from a mutation from their sin.
My clinching verse is one citation of 'son of man' you didn't mention: Psalm 8:What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit[c] him? 5 For You have made him a little lower than [d]the angels, And You have crowned him with glory and honor.
Here man is contrasted with angels and is called a little lower, yet to be crowned with glory and honor. Here 'son of man' is clearly a man.
Now this is also a reference to Jesus Christ, who was also born as a man, not as an angel.
This is why I think the Nephilim are not descended from angels. Plus Jesus's comment that angels don't marry. I know He says 'angels in heaven' but he's comparing glorified Christians to righteous angels, not to fallen demons.

I thing the first theory is correct. We know that the nephilims were the heroes of the old which would mean that genesis 4:6 saying "heroes of the old who came from sons of God and daughters of man" would have to talk about them and that its just that the way moses wrote it.
Remember the parable of the wheat and the tares? The nephilim are the tares. The seed of the serpent. Literally men created in the image of their god, a fallen angel.
What is missed here is Genesis 3:15. God said he would enmity between the "seed of the woman" and the "seed of the Nachash". Seed in Hebrew is "Zerah". It means sperm. We know the Seed of the woman is a reference to Yeshua who will come to take back the authority the devil took from Adam. What is often forgotten that the devil has always wanted to be worshiped. After Genesis 3, we see in Genesis 6:3 that the B'nai Elohim "took" wives from the human men. They cohabited with them. This created a parallel race of beings to the human race.
We see that the Flood of Noah came because their Nephilim beings had completely taken over the entire world save for Noah and his wife and their three sons and wives. After the Nephilim were wiped out, the devil's plan was stopped. However, Genesis 6:4 it says there were Nephilim in those days and "after". The word for after in Hebrew is "acharit" Generally, acharit refers to the Last Days, something Yeshua mentioned in Matthew 24 regarding the days of Noah and the return of our Messiah. Genesis 6:9 mentions that Noah was "perfect in his generation". It does not say he was a perfect man. It says generation, or Toldot in Hebrew. That means his DNA was untainted by the incursion of the Fallen Angels and the Nephilim.
Christians miss the white elephant in the room when Yeshua was asked a question by the Sadducees about whose husband would be for the woman who had 7 husbands. He noted that in Heaven, we are like the angels. What is forgotten is that in Heaven, there is no need for reproduction by humans, but on earth, it is how we perpetuate life. We cannot compare Heaven and earth when talking about abilities of either angels or people. The Bible also said there will be no need to eat or drink, but we do need to eat and drink on earth. Remember, the devil is the god of this world according to Yeshua and Rav Sha'ul-Paul. This is his domain as is the second heaven.
! Peter 3:19-20, II Peter 2:4-9 and Jude 6,7 all reference the Fallen Angels who sinned and are in chains of darkness awaiting judgement. They are receiving a special punishment for leaving their estate and defiling themselves with women. One more verse that is interesting is in I Corinthians 11:10. Paul says that a woman should have a covering over her head "because of the angels". Because of the angels? Women cover their heads because of angels? Apparently, Paul understood that human women can be attractive to angels, especially to the evil ones cast down to earth with the devil. This is a direct reference to Genesis 6:3.

Regardless we can't verify Goliaths true height.
King Og of Bushan 's bed was seized and transported to a place to remain as a demonstration of his size. Bed was 12 feet by 6 feet. So a person sleeping comfortably on it might be fewer than 9 feet tall. Not outrageous but to the Hebrews who were around 5 feet tall and mostly skin and bones, some guy who looks like "The mountain" from game of thrones yes, absolutely is a giant.

That is huge and he may of been a 9/10 ft tall person, I understand why people think that, me once being one of them, but there is no writings of his actual height to verify this, so an assumption is required to make him 9/10 ft tall. At that height you start getting into the square cube law and the problems associated with that. A bed that size for a king of those days may simply and possibly of been a status symbol. I'm not sure if that can be verified, but does sound plausible.
Even Goliath has 2 different heights written of him. Kjv 6 cubits and a span. 9/10 ft. Septuagint 4 cubits and a span 7/8 ft. The only height that seems confirmed and consistent biblically is the Egyptian at 5 cubits 7.5 ft . 1 Chronicles 11:23

As for the possibility of status symbol, I think it should be possible to compare to beds of contemporaries or something near it. We do have something like King Tut's bed which still appears to be functional and practical.

I did a quick search the largest beds in history.
The largest bed in the world according to the Guinness Book of World Records was made by Commissie Zomerfeesten St Gregorius Hertme (NL) in Hertme. It measured 86 foot 11 inches long and 53 foot 11 inches wide.
As you can see we can't use a bed to signify one's humanistic size. You do however make a good point of comparing beds by contemporaries of king Og.
Another thing I came across was king's Og's bed description in Hebrew ['eres] may also mean sarcophagus.
The largest Egyptian sarcophagus found apparently was 4 meters (13 feet) long. The only difference between this and King Og's sarcophagus [if that's what it was] was what it was made of.

The only counterpoint I can think of in comparing contemporaries to ancient is the sheer amount of labor required to make such a bed or theoretically the bed-frame out of iron of that size in the timeframe.
This was around the beginning of the bronze age, while the Iron age was some centuries later. Iron tools weren't common, let alone a bed [Frame] that size (or Sarcophagus) made entirely of iron.
Contemporarily of course we can slap together a bed in hours. Even an iron one. In the Bronze age a massive iron bed? It seems not only impractical but too base a metal for ornamentation.
But at any rate, we can only guess. Though conventional wisdom remains that there are currently very very large people and pretty small people. A tribe of nomads subsisting on Mana would indeed feel like giants compared to 6 foot Strongmen double their weight and half again their width.

Genetic mutations are never beneficial. People with gigantism due to a gland overworking end up with horrible pain as their bodies begin to fall apart pretty early in life.
Hard to say what they were but even today we can see there are men over 6 feet tall and over 200 pounds of muscle. If you, as a 5 foot tall Hebrew who weighed only close to 100 lbs witnessed an entire tribe of men like the former, you would be terrified of them.

Look up Belgium Blue Cows etc. A lot of people interpret the nephilim as breeding with humans, but if they had simply conveyed knowledge to humans on how to selectively breed genes or genetically modify themselves somehow it would not have been necessary for the nephilim to actually have sex with humans. I think it is likely pre-flood peoples committed all types of abominations, including corrupting creatures and God's creation, which is in part why God would have cleansed the world. With 800-900 year lifespans, humans had all kinds of time to experiment with breeding and pass along first hand knowledge etc. I think it is likely pre-flood activity is responsible for being the origination of many civilization's myths about hybrid animals like Minotaurs.

Regarding your invitation to bible scholars of which entity they were....... Here's why the theory that Moses was contrasting doesn't work - It is not true to the grammer. "The Nephilim were on the earth in those days" is an opening summary statement to be explained in the following lines, not a standalone fact. Its like me saying "There was gas in the cars in those days, WHEN the gas attendants dispensed gas from their machines." Those are not 2 separate, unrelated facts. The second part is an explanation of how the first is possible. Its the same writing type here. "WHEN the sons of God came....." is the explanation of the opening thesis.
Regarding "and also after those days..." The "days" referred to is the flood. The flood destroyed the Nephilim, but even after the flood, it happened again. I think Nimrod and Babel is a decent amount of proof that humanity had the help of fallen angels even after the flood. It could easily reasoned that the help was strictly demonic, but the existence of physical giants throughout Israel's conquest proves otherwise. This time, however, God solved the problem with a human army, rather than a natural disaster. Once Jonathan killed the last of the giants, there came a period of peace for Solomon and every war from that point forward was Israel's doing, not God's mission. Anyway, the "days" means the days before and after the flood, not the days before after Adam.

In those days means before the Great Flood. Noah was perfect in his generations. This meant he was 100% human. Most of the world was human-demon hybrid (Nephalim).

Goliath was about 9 feet tall. This is still huge but not as tall as Og King of Bashan. David found 5 smooth stones to kill Goliath because Goliath had 4 brothers. David ended up killing them too. After the reign of David we don't see any more giants/Nephilim. David wiped them all out for good.
Genesis 6:4 tells us who the Nephilim were. They were "men of renown." In other words, they were human. Plus, if they are fallen angels and were on the earth after the Flood, then we have to assume there are half-human and half-angel offspring on the earth. That opens a can of worms that can't be closed. They were just giant men. Most giants in the Bible were between 7 and 10 feet tall and none were said to be angelic. In Jude, the sin of the Nephilim is not said to be the same as the sin of Sodom and Gomorrah. Jude is talking about those who are in hell and tells you why. The Jews who did not believe after being rescued from slavery, the angels who abandoned their place of residence, and the people of Sodom and Gomorrah who committed sexual sin. The use of "in the same manner" is not saying the angels committed the same sins as the people of Sodom and Gomorrah, it ties together the people of Sodom and Gomorrah with the angels and unbelieving Jews as examples of those who are suffering in hell.

The Hebrew word “when” is מתי (mah-tie) but in this instance it’s another word that means (whenever the event or act occurred). This means that whenever the sons of God went into the daughters of men, there were born to them Nephalim. Before the flood, it was an infestation. Afterwards, there were still occurrences of this great sin until the sons of God were no longer sinning in this manner lest they join their buddies chained in gloomy darkness (2Peter 2:4).
It was not one occurrence that the angels did this, but many. Most before the flood, but some after.
Before the flood, there may have been a risk of humanity becoming tainted with angel blood which would mess up the prophesy of a seed of Eve crushing the head of the snake in Genesis 3:15. That last part is a theory, and not an idea stated in the Bible.

This phenomenon does not appear to have stopped.
If we are living in the last days, remember that Jesus said that the coming of the son of man will be like the days of Noah. He highlighted one aspect of those days, but if he meant the coming of the sons of man would be like the days of Noah more generally, note that in the days of Noah, the "sons of god" mated with human women and had the Nephilim as their offspring. Do we see anything like that today? I propose to you that the phenomenon of people reporting to have been abducted by aliens and seeing alien-human hybrids is exactly this, that "aliens" are fallen angels manifesting in physical form to do this. This idea of human-alien hybrids is not a unique story; so many people seem to have experienced sexual abuse at the hands of "aliens" that something has to be going on.
Theologically speaking, why might the fallen angels have tried to mate with humans in Genesis 6? The first Messianic prophecy foretold that the seed of the woman would crush the seed of the serpent, in Genesis 3. Satan's pattern of behavior has been that he seems to try to maneuver God to try to block God's promises. God foretold that the seed of the woman would crush the seed of the serpent, so the Serpent tried to contaminate the human gene pool. If the Nephilim were to intermarry with humans, within a handful of generations, there might not be any human that wasn't also the offspring of these fallen angels. For that reason, God wiped them out with the flood, and also commanded their extermination after the flood in times where they encountered Joshua and the Israelites.
The remanant of the Anakim settled in Gath (Joshua 11:22).
Later, who emerges from Gath? Goliath the giant. These details all suggest that they were indeed giants.

First, in address to your very first sentence, Genesis 6:1-4 does not say that the Nephilim are Sons of God. It says that their sires, the fallen angels, are Sons of God.
Second, there is nothing in the Bible that suggests the genealogy in Genesis 5 lists the Sons of God. Genesis 4:26 says that MEN began to call on the name of the LORD. The verse doesn't say that only Seth and his sons called on the name of the LORD, it says MEN in general.
Third, there is absolutely nothing in the text of Genesis 6:1-4 that indicates that the 'daughters of men' are descendants of Cain, or that the 'Sons of God' are descendants of Seth. In the Bible, 'men' is used to refer to humanity in general. "Daughters of men" would then mean female humans.
Fourth, Psalm 82, which you quoted out of context verse from, clearly evidences that the Sons of God are divine beings. The very fact that they are sentenced, in verse 7, to "die like men" implies both that they are not men and that they are not naturally mortal. Verse 6 explicitly states that the Sons of God are gods. In ancient Hebrew, the word is Elohim, meaning divine being.
Fifth, you claim that Job shows that the Sons of God were NOT fallen. In Job, all references to the Sons of God are indeed indicative that the Sons of God are not fallen. However, Psalm 82 tells us that the Sons of God DID FALL. Psalm 82 says that they did not rule the nations justly, so YHWH, sentenced them to death. Deuteronomy 32 describes the Sons of God being given authority over the nations after humankind rebelled against YHWH at Babel. References to the Sons of God in Job and Psalm 82 show us that not all of the Sons of God fell. Many remained loyal to YHWH. The loyal ones are the ones referenced in Job. The Fallen ones are the ones referenced in Psalm 82, Genesis 6:1-4, and Deuteronomy 32.

I agree that the nephilim could not have been fallen angels as they could not be referred to as sons of God. However, we do NOT know that the sons of God spoken of in Job are angels. Nothing points to that. Aside of those mentions in Scripture that SEEM to IMPLY that these beings are angels... No where in the Bible is the term ''sons of men'' used to characterize angels.
In fact, Psalms 8 make the distinction between angels and son of man pretty clear : What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?
5For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.
It’s not in the Bible there is a book called the book of Enoch and it’s actually talks about the origins of the Nephilim a little bit. Now there is many things in the book of Enoch that contradict the Bible, buts it’s the little bits of truth that show the full picture.
Nothing in Enoch contradicts the Bible just mans doctrine. Its apocryphal not heretical. Jesus quoted from it.
The word Nephilim is actually Aramaic. The verb Naphal, to fall, would not conjugate to Nephilim in Hebrew.
The sons of God went into human women and produced Nephilim in those days. Seems quite clear.

St Thomas Aquinas have found the answers to this problem , Aquinas deals with this in the Summa, part 1, question 51, article 3. He says this:
But God's holy angels could not fall in such fashion before the deluge. Hence by the sons of God are to be understood the sons of Seth, who were good; while by the daughters of men the Scripture designates those who sprang from the race of Cain. Nor is it to be wondered at that giants should be born of them; for they were not all giants, albeit there were many more before than after the deluge."
Uhm. He's wrong. There's no explanation here (in this ezcerpt) why they couldn't "fall in such fashion."
@@AdventureSMBW Aquinas is right. If by "sons of God" you believe it as holy angels, they will not lust after women and marry bcs of what Jesus said in Matt 22:30. We can confer the 'sons of God' in this passage as the offspring of Seth, this interpretation you can read more in St.Augustine's book "City of God" book 15 chapter 23. St Augustine explained how the term "sons of God" or angels can be given to godly men, such as John the Baptist which it is written: "I will send my messenger (angel), ahead of you, who will prepare your way” Mark 1:2, "Angel” is taken from the Greek word ἄγγελος (angellos)” which means “messenger.
@@AdventureSMBW St. Augustine further explains that this interpretation (sons of God as the offsprings of Seth and not angels) is ambiguously found in the Scripture bcs when it stated that the sons of God took wife of sons of men, it was immediately added "And the Lotd God said, “My Spirit shall not abide in man forever, for he is flesh" . This is because by the Spirit of God they had been made sons of God, but declining towards ungodly women, they are called men, a name of nature, not of grace, and they're called flesh, as deserters of the Spirit.

What a lot of people fail to realize today is who the first Nephilim was. Cain, the son of the serpent spoken of in the Revelation of Christ (12:9). "Eating of the fruit" of a tree was a common near-eastern euphemism for sexual intercourse. It explains why Cain was not 'good' like the rest of God's creation. It also explains Christ's words in John 8:44 when he was speaking to the Edomite Pharisees.

Why is it fiction?
Is it possible that there were fallen angels who were not demonic? Those who did not fall following Lucifer, but who saw the earth and simply chose to become physical and live and die there, not because they rebelled against God necessarily, but because they were curious and wanted to experience creation. I'm sure this is a heretical take somehow, but it's interesting to consider.

Jude 1:5-7 KJV

[7] Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.
People ignorantly assume that "in like manner" refers to Sodom, Gomorrah, and the cities around them as a whole, and is refering back to the angels of the previous verse.
That is not the case. "In like manner" is refering to the unnamed cities who did in like manner to the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. This section is showing How God knows how to save and to pass judgment and how to hold for judgment.
Both the scripture in Jude and 1 Peter are talking about God being able to reserve for judgment, save, and destroy; and they are both speaking in regards to false prophets and false teachers.
This fantasy about angels having sex is one of those fables that the bible talks about.
