Luther, is definitely going to do numbers. The reason why is because it has no swears in it, you can easily put it on Clear Channel, put it on a rotation, and have it play in the background. It's going to do numbers.

Man…this is such a dope project. It feels personal but the opposite spectrum of Mr. Morale. Dude has the best year and had it even before this album, this honestly is a chef’s kiss. I do think there’s a few skips but I need to replay and maybe catch lyrics and themes. The intro is crazy, literally that alone could have been a year end from him and be fine. That 5 year gap man…it’s not DAMN, and I don’t think it has as much of a narrative or common themes as the previous albums BUT that is a good refresh for him and said you want rap, you want songs you want perspective on the outside world of Kendrick that isn’t a story or saga. Dude dropped at 10am Friday didn’t even tell the label and somehow we had no leaks as the most high profile rapper of the year plus the last decade.
I don’t think every Kendrick album needs an all-encompassing concept tying it together. It’s good to see him having fun at the top. Wish people would stop the ‘second album coming’ talk, ain’t y’all learn from ‘Damn/Nation’😂
I’m cool with him making a fun album if the songs are good, the songs are simply not good. I’m cool with him taking another 5 years if he can make something as good as Mr Morale again, no need to rush it then you get B.S like GNX.
On my 5th listen, and, fuck, it really is good. It does feel and sound like a full album experience, and the production is stellar. Sure, I think his next project will most likely be more conceptual, but maybe not? It's K-Dot. He has eras. He has universes. This does sound like a cohesive project, especially because of the female melodic vocals and the West Coast, big, open production.
