I worked for him in the shop welding dumpsters. That was back in 1977/8. Nice guy, I worked afternoon-evenings. I remember he used to come in chat with everyone during our dinner break on the old bus that was our break room. 😀.
Marymount should be on every car enthusiast's bucket list. As good as this episode of MCCTV is it barely scratches the surface; the property is 70+ acres and after the visitor gets saturated strolling through the inside collections there's a whole new world outside and in the back. The cliche "It boggles the mind." is operative here.
Hi Dennis, i have watched many of your videos but this has to be the best. Watching this i can understand why you would say it was one of your best days ever. Mr LeMay was truely a national treasure. Sorry to read in the comments that he had passed away. Good luck to the family keeping his vision going. Can't imagine topping this vudeo. Thanks Dennis.
Fantastic Collection. Met Mr. LeMay at his Annual Car Show a few times in front. He was an amazing man. He was very humble wearing his overalls and plaid shirt and enjoyed watching the visitors enjoy his collection of cars. Most people that came in did not even know it was him. I always Thanked him.😊
I'm blown away with the amount of classic and collectible cars everyone of them looks like they just came off the show room floor wow I love this diverse collection Rest in car heaven Mr Lamay
God Bless this man Harold LeMay. He has preserved Amerian history with his passion for colleting. There needs to be a museum and I'm glad he and his family has plans to accomplish this. Something like the Barber Motorsports Museum in Alabama. Harold LeMay has left his mark on US History. Of course the LeMay family's plans for this museum must inlude culling his colletion down to the really important vehicles. Selling these surplus vehiles to other colleters and using these funds to establish the permenent Lemay museum. Good luck LeMay family, Harold LeMay was one of a kind. Thank you Harold LeMay.
I’m so proud to live in Pierce County where Mr. LaMay has his collection. We wouldn’t have the Automobile Museum in Tacoma it wasn’t for LaMay. God Bless you and thank you for sharing it with us.
I went to the museum and was pleasantly surprised with it. The feature at the time was the James Hetfield Collection, to which I thought, who cares, who's that? Whoa, that guy has vision. And, he can play guitars, too. ;-)
Thanks for a nice reply. The Museum in Tacoma is a fine facility on it’s own because the LaMay family I don’t think are as involved as they were in the beginning but it’s they own collection in those dozens of buildings in Pierce county that is amazing, so proud.

I visited the LeMay collection some 20+ years ago, or whatever portion of it was available, because it's not possible to take it all in one day. The car I remember most was parked at the spot shown @ 0:10 - It was a 1961 Chrysler 300 G convertible with the crossram 413 engine. First one I ever had the chance to examine up close. By the time we toured a nearby BIG indoor facility, my memory slots were overfilled by acres of beautiful cars of every kind. This reminds me I need to go there again. Thanks Dennis, and LeMay family!
This is amazing to see. He probably envisioned this day when he was a little kid. The rarity of all these vehicles. He should have invested in stocks too. Simply amazing 😊
I am a car lover & this collection of what I could see of it was vast & astounding. I have never seen such a beautiful collection in my life, & may he rest in peace as his contribution to the world of cars is the great & if you take all these vehicles and line them up bumper to bumper, I wonder how many miles would it be from beginning to end. I hope that his son reaches out & grabs his father's dream to have the biggest car museum in the United States, or even the world! 🌎 🚗 ❤️
Very cool....My Dad use to build Hot Rods for his Customers. They would bring him a car to work on and my Dad would completely restore the cars to what ever his customers wanted. In the early days even my Mom would re-upholster them....she did this until she got too old to pull on the leather they way it needed to be.

He was very funny and friendly. I remember it was hard to keep up with him. He walked very fast. Great guy!!
I've been lucky enough to visit this place a few times! It is breathtaking! Riding the London high top bus to the largest off-site portion was fun too! I remember seeing one or his Corvairs at that location! RIP Harold LeMay. The new museum in Tacoma is beautiful, but the Tower of Horsepower was not built. There is security, but the area of town that it's in can be a bit "sketchy".
Look up "LeMay family car collection" it is his car collection just at his property not Tacoma LeMay Museum. In my opinion it is better than Tacoma for the true car Enthusiast. Been through the original Marymount site many times while Mr LeMay was alive; have 3 annual posters, autographed by Harold. Have also been through the beautiful LeMay Museum in downtown Tacoma. A must see. I understand his 1st purchase, a Deusenberg, he once sold, was so disappointed that he bought it back, and I also understand he never again sold a car once he bought it. RIP
I've lived in Tacoma for over 26 years, and I point with pride to the LeMay Museum in Tacoma (by the Tacoma Dome) AND the old Marymount campus, where most--if not all--of this footage was shot.
Seeing this fantastic collection of cars amazed me and made me think of the Volo Auto Museum in Volo IL which I have visited twice and would love to return to again

RIP

An AMAZING collection by a man who followed his dream! I hope to someday visit the museum.
