To explain the torque number, it is not a lie, but it’s not the most honest.
What that number is is the torque at the wheels when traditionally it is measured at the engine/motor. So you average pickup is advertised at 300 to 500ftlbs of torque because that is what the engine can produce. If you do the math adding in all the gearing reductions, your average truck has WELL in excess of 10,000ftlbs of torque at the tires in its lowest gear. The Hummer (and for that matter also the Cybertruck) advertise it at the tires… which since they don’t have gears to change that makes sense, but they don’t “tell” you that… they just say it makes 11,500ftlbs of torque and leave it at that. If normal ICE vehicles only had one gear like electric vehicles then this would be how they would be advertised too… but because they have to swap gears all the time, that constantly changes the torque at the wheels, so they have always just advertised the engine torque as a byproduct of that.
Obviously the reason they are doing this is because for advertising, big number go burrrr with most people so it grabs their attention even not knowing the context of how it is measured/generated.
Edit: Also to add to that… the reason the torque is around 11,000ftlbs is purely because that’s about the limit of traction on an average road tire. This is also why the Hummer is a 3 motor and not a 4 motor because they can break the front tires loose with 1 motor due to weight transfer on launch so why use 2 when 1 will do?

Range is only because of huge pack. The Wh/mile efficiency is horrid.

Not even GM's SC 6.2L from the V would be enough to move this brick wall with authority. It would probably require some Hennessy treatment for that.

@ haha probably. With a Hennessy treatment i bet that thing would sell like hotcakes
