I'm sorry but that scene with the Strategist addressing the army was like, some of the BEST Dalek stuff in ages right? Genuinely terrifying and unbelievably intense, and the delivery of the line "live without conscience" actually sent a chill down my spine. The Strategist may well be the Ashad of the Daleks
That army address is why I consider the Daleks the best sci fi monster of all time. It sums up and explains what the Daleks have been about this entire time since their first appearance.
I'm sincerely enjoying this series. With most of their stories in the 70's, 80's, and 2010's, it's easy to forget that the Daleks aren't just a mindless horde shouting the same catchphrase over and over again. When they were introduced in the 1960's, they had a sadistic intelligence, they discussed and debated their plans with each other, and they felt like a real society. When they were reintroduced to modern audiences, I feel like the Metaltron and the Cult of Skaro were superb updates of this original characterization for the Daleks, but barring a return to form in Resolution, Victory of the Daleks was the last time I found the Daleks all that interesting. This series gets the Daleks. They're a fascist, authoritarian society, but they're not robots. They're sadistic and some have their own ambitions.
@Lord Drum well this was also shown in the Tom Baker serial "Destiny of the Daleks" where the Daleks used human slaves for quarry work to try and find Davros on Skaro.
You know, as a big Dalek fan, I feel like Timelord Victorious is one of the greatest things to come from Doctor Who. The Daleks can be so so interesting if it involves well-written Dalek characters, and they’re not treated as generic villains. The Strategist might well be my favorite ever Doctor Who character, replacing the Dalek Time Controller. The moment where the Emperor goes silent and the Strategist chimes in in his place? Iconic. Amazing. Chilling.
Now.. Things have get interesting, Emperor doesn't have reinforcements, Skaro has fallen and Entity is hot on Dalek tail. Not to mention Dalek Strategist is almost on Emperor's crosshairs.
Daleks! episode 2: The backstabber who backstabbed the backstabber meant to backstab the backstab of the other backstabbers. It's really one big backstab package gone very wrong, in a fun way. Since the comics, the Dalek Strategist is quickly becoming the most fascinating Dalek character in the history of the show. As I suspected for some time, this guy is meant to be a Dalek leader (even the Doctor noticed something different about him), but... as long as the hierarchy continues to support the egomaniac, that's Dalek blasphemy.
"As the ship finally fell apart, the Strategist observed Daleks being torn apart by the time winds and reflected on the events that had let him there, believing that if he had been aware of the Ultimate End he would have warned the Emperor against it. Foreseeing a bigger war between the Daleks and Time Lords, he resolved to escape to aid the Emperor, or to replace him if he proved ineffective, and used Kotturuh crystals he’d stored in his casing to power an emergency temporal shift" from "exit strategy"
They have done such a thing before...remember that one episode where Amy, Rory and the 11th Doctor were forced to help the Daleks destroy their own Asylum?
they did it in the comic, but like the comic... they will likely tell themselves that they commanded him and or did it him to destroy him just to keep their ego intact
the awakening of the dalek army reminds me of a fan animation called "the dalek invasion of skaro" where a bronze dalek reactivated an army of 10000 dead planet daleks. Kind of an interesting role reversal.

the part where they revealed all the daleks in the warehouse reminded me of that scene from kerblam where they reveal all the postmen lmao
The Strategists voice sounds like Spitting Images take on Dominic Cumings
And will be gone by Christmas too.
Aww them shooting back and forth looks like Christmas!
You know what, I’m digging the SFM vibe of the series
Wow! That was great! Great job DW team! Can I assume that the army of 10,000 Daleks is the very same army that the Doctor, his friend Jo Grant and their Thal allys left frozen on Spiridon in "Planet of the Daleks"? Anyway, I thoughly enjoyed that and very much looking forward to Episode 3 next Thursday!
Dalek = salt shaker + toilet plunger + egg beater + screwdriver handle.
Absolutely loving this series and the 60s comic strip vibe! Everything I wanted as a kid!!!!
Keep making more episodes.
I didn't know there was some Who to keep the cravings in check.
Gonna get started on these tomorrow.
Better than the first episode! I cannot wait to see more!
Great stuff, really enjoyed it and looking forward to the next episode.
So far, it's all Daleks and robots, I'm presuming that humans and aliens are too difficult to do in this style of animation?
I'm not criticising, I'm loving this. And I have the Emperor Dalek figurine. :)
yep that why they chose this so they didn't have to animate mouths. lazy
Every time we get an upward shot of the Dalek Strategist, I always notice his neck rings have no bottom, I wonder if that's a case of flipped normals being culled out.
Although, I'm not going to be able to complete the WHOLE Time Lord Victorious story as this is a prequel and there's so many different formats on the continuity, I'm really looking forward on how it (the prequel) goes. This is very interesting so, far! =)
I wish you'd gotten the guy who did the Doctor Who anime ten or so years ago to animate this.
Such as treat! Thank you.
Dalekicious, excellent! Really enjoying this series!
