According to the description, that girl who killed them both and then realised the mistake is actually a boy called Jack. Also, there's another one like this, also made by BPS/Squared Media called Survival Games.

the ending really reminded me of Red Dead Redemption 2 i think they did a good job at making the transition from happy to sad and sad to happy
