Starting price for $53K equivalent for a midsize is honestly a lot higher than I expected. I expected something in the $35K or at most mid $40K range (starting price of a Tacoma hybrid). Remember in Mexico a base Hilux starts at $20K equivalent so BYD is twice as much
Yet its towing and payload a lot less, no solid axle means it is never gonna be as off-road capable. It uses e-CVT rather than traditional torque converter automatic. Its 30kwh or so battery is stored not in the interior like the Wrangler 4XE or TNGA-F product but outside underneath the cab. So repairing and replacing on that battery will take longer and cost more money. Some of the biggest problem of the BYD DMO platform.

There’s all kinds of proof like hundreds of videos showing these EV vehicles literally blowing up or burning up. China is a country full of fakery and highly poor quality labor so stop being an ignorant moron because you clearly know nothing about that your talking about and the horrible products that come out from them. And to top it off all of their current infrastructure is literally falling apart due to what’s called tofu job construction projects, where the companies are stealing most of the profits and using very little to construct major cities/building/walls and bridges thus creating major hazards and death traps because they are falling apart left and right literally months or weeks after being completed. Prior to the tariffs, when they were still mostly stealing and copying Western cars, Chinese cars couldn't enter the market because they couldn't meet safety standards. BYD is crap, they have failed with their launch in Europe completely, less than 1000 vehicles sold a month in Q1. Because their cars aren't any good.

Nope, just white people not buying Chinese branded cars. But great research.

Why would anyone buy a PHEV pickup ?!?! A PHEV doesn't make any sense in a truck. A PHEV is a car to be used in a city. A pickup is not a city car.
And if the chinese say it will travel 100km that's in NEDC cycle. So EPA that would be around 50km or less. And then the fuel consumption when not charged will be high with that poor 1.5 turbo. Chinese cars are not efficient at all. Nowhere near toyota or other manufacturers.

In USA, a pickup is a city car 😜

@@KirkKreifels Still, chinese cars don't have great engineering even if they seem attractive at first glance.
Even their expansive EVs like NIO or BYD are bad. A lot worse than Tesla or others in terms of engineering.
