Hiking and jogging are safer than driving on the roads these days & unfortunately the woods is probably even safer than most schools.

Yes there are, and ppl do live in woods, usually for short stays then they move to different area, we got ppl living under bushes in Indy, when it's too trashed up they move to different bush! She could have very well been attacked on that hike and hidden. They need a full on Grid search to make sure she's not there.

There are places in the world women are not safe to go anywhere alone. In the US we take this for granted. If people do not wake up about what is currently going on politically, this will be the new norm world wide as well as in US.

I don't hike like this anymore, especially alone. I was even with a friend and we got lost in a Maui forest for hours. We were even on a path that had signs. Finally we stopped and sat down and waited. A park ranger came through and led us out. Turns out, someone had intentionally took the signs on the trees, removed them and put them in a circle. 😳. They had received numerous complaints that people had been wandering in circles following those signs which were suppose to be so you don't get lost.

The phone was found outside of the park on the opposite side from where the park entrance is/where her vehicle was parked, I assume that’s where you meant when you said before the park? You confused me… The phone last pinged in another wooded area (but one that has a rough terrain) & is privately owned… You mentioned kidnapping, which if someone saw her & wanted to do something to her, could have deliberately gotten her into a densely wooded area that’s away from the public park she’d been hiking in & somehow her phone got dropped there during a struggle…. ??

The next day, (Monday), had similar temperatures.

What’s an important question is to ask the family member or her close friends is if she’s dating anyone or if she was going to meet somebody there at the hiking place? A lot of times, missing people are murdered by somebody that they know or just met. And that’s a very important issue to address because then they can track down who they are and look for them

Ever heard of ACCIDENTS?? Especially while hiking. Many hikers don't think to bring locator tools in case they get lost or injured, and supplies to spend a night or two if they have to. It's not ALWAYS foul play when a person goes missing.

I know a lot of people comment on never hike alone, that's hard to do, when you hike and people don't want to join you or they work. I love hiking and always do it alone. You can't live in fear, use wisdom, dress according to the weather, carry enough water, tell someone where you are going and carry spray, knife or any protection. I always use walking poles and I'll tell you, they make great weapons and they are legal to use. Most days it's hard to find someone to go with me, I like hiking and if I wait, I'll be sitting at home, which is not healthy. Keep alert and know your limits, stop wearing earbuds, keep your ears free, so you can hear things. If a place doesn't feel right, or having issues, go back to where you parked. There is nothing wrong with stopping and going back another day..

Yup, I noticed they didn't mention that part in the news coverage. Altho hiking alone is not a good idea...that would enable just about anybody stronger than her to overpower her when she was alone in the woods hiking...the "crisis" could have been a former boyfriend threatening/stalking her and followed her there too.
According to many comments - women should not hike alone. Lots of pointing fingers and tsk tsking that a woman dare live her life and take a hike. Notice how no one has said hey men - stop abducting and raping and murdering women. The victim blame is ridiculous. Men - stop raping and murdering women. I pray Meghan is found safe. Because of David Paulides I only hike in my backyard and down the street. No more state parks for me. Too dangerous for so many reasons.

I live in Great Barrington, which is two towns south of Stockbridge. I wish there was some way I could help… I hope she is okay and they find her alive. We have lots of hiking trails here that are quite rough, not to mention the Appalachian trail! It runs right through Sheffield, Great Barrington, Housatonic, Lee, Stockbridge and so on. The trails are extremely treacherous! I just wonder if they should bring in more experienced searchers. We rarely have situations like this. What scares me is if someone harmed her and is out there lose in our community
The place where she was hiking is not treacherous..But everyone should hike with a partner. If you read the local paper she was emotionally upset and needed to get away. Did you not see all the law enforcement and other rescue personnel that have been looking for her.? We are blessed in our community to have them. It was reported from the beginning that the community was not in danger.

I am shocked at the lack of coverage in this case! It is really odd. I an praying for her and her family and am passing this on anyone I believe can help.
I'm checking day and night, at least 10 times a day which only takes a simple push of a button, looking for updates. And nothing. Absolutely nothing. I suggest visiting the website her brother made for her search. Go through the comments which her brother keeps up on with replying. Many details in those threads and sadly, there are a lot of red flags with this case. But sadly, as for updates......nothing, and that's a damn shame.

Her brother Peter Naple has been the point person throughout, keeping her name in the news by posting the latest information on the search, as well as by responding to most people's comments, questions, and queries.
A few days after her March 27th disappearance, he created the website Find Meghan Marohn, but lately, the information sharing has been few and far between.
But on Monday, speaking exclusively to Western Mass News, Naple spoke out on the frustrating search for his sister, while also explaining a little bit about her headspace before she made her way out to the Berkshires for a little peace and tranquility - something he hadn't done until now.
It's been documented that Meghan, an English teacher at Shaker High School in Latham, was dealing with some issues at school before she checked into the Red Lion Inn in Stockbridge.
“I don’t know the full story,” he told Western Mass News. “I do know that what happened at school caused her a lot of heartache. The school gave her paid leave until the end of the school year."
For the dozens here who are saying a lady, or anyone for that matter, shouldn't hike alone.... we've reached a time that surpasses lack of safety while running, walking, hiking alone. It's unsafe to merely sit in your own car alone. Or in some cases to simply walk out your front door or go grocery shopping or anything else for that matter.... alone or not. Heck, now it's becoming questionable to merely go camping on secluded land anymore. We're in a time of not being able to conduct simple tasks of life or enjoy the simplicities of life without the fear of being taken out, man or woman alike. We're in a time now that glorifies the criminal and crucifies the law-abiding citizen. Either get used to it, or make your voice heard in the manner of which it needs to be heard.
This is stupid and there’s soooo much data to disprove everything you just said. Crime is down significantly, especially murders and kidnappings. Because of the news and true crime TV shows, people think it’s way more common than it is.

I take short day hikes in the area alone regularly.
6' 2", 200 lbs. definitely helps, along w/carry permit & a very low tolerance of people violating my personal space. I just can't live my life cowering in fear.
My dispensary is in Lee, & one can see scores of tri-staters flowing through the local towns, purchasing legal cannabis. Perhaps she was on a cannabis getaway & got taken tokin in the woods. Just a thought. She fits the demographic: on paid leave from employer, cites being distraught over work problems...
She's an at-risk adult as well.

Questions are mounting...? She's been gone for two weeks, her brother I hope shared what her emotional upset was about with searchers at least. I'm from Mass., and have hunted that area in the fall, the terrain isn't steep, it's woodlands and fields. The cell pings, and her disappearance into a snowstorm for a woods walk might portend a dark purpose. Which would be a truly awful thing for all who know her, she's so clearly a great person, seems lovely, the kind of person you'd love to know. But things happen with depressed poets. But I fervently pray not, for all concerned.
