Although they weren't at all the same version. The Genesis version was a straight-up port of the arcade game. The SNES version was remade in 16-bit with...weird sound effects and no music, for some reason.
They were released around the same time as the PS1/PC Frogger which starts as a 3D remake but then gets a whole bunch of new levels. Was neat.

Frogger is such a damn good game on PC. I loved playing that when I was younger. The menus look so cool and it brims with personality.

Usually the last games released on a console are terrible because the company want people to buy the new console instead of continuing to use the old one. I mean just look at star fox 2 and the first few final fantasy games, all of those were scrapped for America so people wouldn’t keep the nes/snes, and instead buy the newest console.

Griptonite made three Harry Potter games and each one is better than the one before it, Prisoner of Azkaban being one the GBA's best RPGs. It's a shame Griptonite's owners were bought out and eventually sold to another studio, Glu Mobile, that makes crappy smart phone ports, the same company that killed Gamespy.

It's crazy the last PS1 game released the year the before the 360 was coming out, and the last PS2 game released the year the PS4 came out. Nearly 2 generations removed from their own hardware releases.

I'd be surprised if the final game on a console was a big deal, since usually there's a transitional period between consoles- slowly shifting in favor of the new console over time. Why drop a big title and then cut support for that system?

One interesting thing is that Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets for the Game Boy Color (from what I've heard) is not a bad game. It's supposedly a fairly decent Japanese-styled RPG and above the trash-level expected for modern licensed games.

Uhh, probably been said before, but the Metal Slader Glory game that made HAL go bankrupt was the Famicom release. That eventual super famicom port with the cut content from the famicom came out really late, though.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets was actually a pretty good RPG. The game was imo far better than the GBA version. Same goes for Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone on GBC.
The final game for Wii was meant to be Rodea the Sky Soldier, which would have been a fine Swan song game, but then Just Dance decided to pump out another quick game and stole the title.

Amusing fact about the Gizmondo: the cheaper version's ad service was never actually turned on. The company went bust before it was ready, so you got an identical system and experience to the people who'd paid more money for the ad free one.

We need to wait till E3 2020 to be reslly sure! From the date the Wii softwarewise now is the longest supported gamesconsole of all time! About on par with the PS2 and the Xbox 360! (Atari 2600 did not recieve a game every year from its launch til the 90es so i am not sure if we should count that!) Super Turrican was released in 2003 on the SNES in Japan... I don't think we can say the console had a 12 years livespan...

@@xunbekannt1572 It has built in motion controls and established itself as a "family console". The only Wii I've witnessed still being used is by my uncle, for his 9~ yrs old kids to play on. I'd expect that to live longer than the other two for that reason

Breath of the Wild on switch is essentially a port. It was made for the Wii u, and is why it lacks graphically in some places. This is why the sequel to BotW looks significantly better.

@@rutgerbeegee2197 I don't like how that version skips over the charming beginning at the Weasley's and the mixup and Knockturn Alley and plummets you straight into Diagon Alley with Hagrid. The World Building in other versions was fantastic partially because of those opening segments.
It's either the PS2 or GBC versions to play for me. The GC and XBOX ports not letting you freely walk around Hogwarts off the paths really made the games less fun for me. The unlockable broom at the endgame of the PS2 version is an awesome bonus as well.
Did you play the GBC version? They are totally different to each other in gameplay.

Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets is a great JRPG style game that was so good that after the GBC was discontinued they rounded out the trilogy by having the third game on GBA be a sequel to the two GBC games
