But you ARE teaching. Your teaching all the students there that if you keep trying, things will get better. That even if something is really hard, if you keep at it, you can overcome it. A life teacher right now, and that’s very valuable. Your students are very lucky to have you as an example 👏❤️

How incredible is your school to be so supportive?! This is a great chance for your students to learn compassion and that people may be different, in a variety of ways, but on the inside we are all the same! You’re doing so well...keep it up!😊💚

You don't have to rush back to teaching, it seems like the school is willing to work with you! It's a great goal for you to work towards while you're doing your speech therapy but you should take your time for your brain to be in top shape! You are close, it will happen 💜

You are such an amazing person and such an inspiration. I hope one day you can do a TED talk or something about life after brain cancer and share your story because I think the amount of time you've recovered in and the amount of resilience, perseverance and positivity you've shown is just amazing. I can't imagine myself confidently working almost full time just months after a potentially life threatening tumor and surgery. You're awesome

You might think you’re not teaching but you are! You’re teaching perseverance, tolerance, strength of self, determination, patience and the list goes on. These may not be your traditional teaching practices but your students are learning from you every single day about real life and how to cope when things come along that challenge you. You’re an incredible teacher, a wonderful inspiration and a tremendously beautiful person inside and out, we all love you and are so proud of you. We don’t know what you’re going through but we’ll walk beside you all the way. I love you so much Court 😍😍😍😘😘💋💋 💖🌹💖🌹💖 xxx

Courtney you are amazing!! You are a warrior and I am so inspired by you
I had a freak accident 20 months ago. I broke my chest when I was lifting and moving something I never should have tried to by myself and it came back at me in just the wrong way and bent and then cracked off my xyphoid process. That is the semi-cartilaginous/mostly ossified (it stars as cartilage and turns solid starting the day you’re born) thing that extends down from between the ribs. They misdiagnosed it for two excruciating months, then finally did exploratory surgery, went in my chest, and found the bone fragments working their way through my chest. I could have died if they had punctured an artery.
The aftermath of the surgery has been constant swelling of my chest and making it very painful and the feeling of like I can’t take a full breath. It has frustrated me so much because it has been so long. My job has been absolutely amazing at accommodating me. I’m so blessed and watching you makes me realize how blessed I am, and look at the progress I have made. It really inspired me to push ahead and not look back.
Much thanks and love to you for sharing your journey with us!!!
    Laurie

You hit the nail on the head - You went through a huge trauma. Take your time, no pressure that causes you to feel frustrated or down.
It's clear that you love teaching and really want to return. I'm so glad you are volunteering or working at your school during your recovery because that will keep your mood elevated and keep you headed toward your goal of returning to teaching.
Plus it helps the kids see that you made it through brain surgery and how the recovery goes on someone they know. It will help their empathy and understanding of how injuries or illnesses can effect people they know. They also get to cheer you on in your recovery.

You are such a wonderful example of what perseverance and strength looks like when facing incredible challenges and adversity. It isn't only your online audience that witnesses and appreciates this, but, most importantly, the kids at your school are watching a beloved teacher rise and wrestle the reigns of her life back from cancer. So many other people would have just checked out, but you've chosen a path of healing that challenges you and inspires others. Absolutely fantastic. Now...I'm off to try to be a better person from seeing your example.

My uncle whom was like a father to me had glioblastoma. He was at a stage 4 when diagnosed. Unfortunately he lost his battle in March of this year. So when I seen you had a brain tumor and you’ve fought through it I was so happy for you! I prayed for you everyday & I am genuinely so ecstatic to see you healthy and cancer free! It’s amazing to see how far you have come! ❤️

My best friend substituted for a teacher who had a TBI, she came back too early and really struggled. And then her husband tragically passes which made her regress. You’ve had so much trauma with a brain tumor, brain surgery, radiation and cancer treatments, and your dad passing. But you’ve continued to progress and your brain is healing and restructuring. Keep up the hard work and finding the positives! But cut yourself some slack sometimes, and remember every step is a victory

I find this to be extreemly inspirational. I had a minor head injury 2 years ago, and because it was minor, there was no rehab facilities for me. I still struggle every day. It is easy to look back and remember how you were or what your capabilities were previous to a trauma. I love how positive you are, and how you have been patient and built yourself up in all the ways you can after your trauma. You never know what the universe has in store for you. Teaching seems like a great profession and I am sure things will become more clear over time for you. It is a much needed service, and it is fabulous you are still engaged in your passion~! Much Love from Victoria, Canada.

My family found out a few weeks ago that my little brother has a brain tumor. He is also one of the many victims of hurricane Harvey. He lost his job because his car got flooded, and he couldn't get back and forth to work when it finally opened. Because he was out of work from harvey he lost out on pay and got behind on his rent and is now getting evicted. Anyway I think you are an inspiration and I am glad you are doing so well I know you can relate with all the stuff that hit you and your family this year. With your permission if it's not crappy of me to ask may I put my brothers go fund me info on here for others to consider helping if they want? There is no wrong answer. I wish you the best all the same.

I knew you were part time at school but I didn't know what you were doing. I'm so glad that your school has been so supportive of you, Courtney!

Youve made amazing progress and every day you still are a teacher and share what your going through. It will be wonderful to see how you use the challenges youve faced and the hurdles youve worked through, to help students and teacher understand the complexity and the resilence of the brain. Truly our experiences in life that seem to sideline us become the true callings in our lives. Your a strong, brave and beautiful person and youve given the world a gentler vision of the harsh realities of facing brain tumor, surgery, cancer and life developments that any one could be overwhelming, and yet youve traveled the path through all of them, still smiling and more you then ever. God continue to bless and lead you to health and new life purposes with awareness of what a special human being you are.

You are so amazing so resilient and I admire your strength, your bravery and your ability to be so positive even in the midst of struggling! Remembering back to when you first told your fans (subscribers) that they found a tumor in your brain and you would had to undergo brain surgery, I just thought to myself "Wow" your so young and beautiful, how did this happen! You've undergone so much and yet you still have the courage to tell your story and you tell it with a smile.. Im so happy that youve gone back to work even though your unable to teach at the moment your still working and your "prepping" your brain for when you do! You are an inspiration to many and Im so glad I found your channl!!

Don’t forget you have been teaching the world how to have a heart and teaching people about what being alive really means. Your grace and your courage truly is inspiring and that you continue to make your videos is amazing. Ugh. I admit this post was a year ago and I haven’t seen anything new yet which scares me honestly. You never stopped teaching was my point. Teacher is like being a leader. You are or you aren’t. Education can make you better at both but it can’t “teach” you then skill at the core of both...Heart. You can’t teach someone to care. You can’t teach someone to love. You have a heart that could move mountains and no matter what comes in the future you have taught me something I knew but forgot. How important having a heart is and to never give up. To just keep going even if it’s hard and even if it hurts. Thank you.

It's got to drive you crazy being away from your students, but the brain is amazing, and you are amazing! Just look at the progress you've made in so little time already! It's easy to see you're working your ass off to get your language back. It's cool that your school is being so great and working with you, but they clearly have to see your will and efforts to whip your brain back into shape too and your value as an employee. It's wonderful that there's a spot in the library for right now!
Off-topic: Your hands are perfect! This look also really accentuates your beautiful eyes!

Courtney OMG! You are so amazing. I was wondering if you were going to be going back, and I'm so happy for you that you are going to be able to. You are such an inspiration right now I am going through the hardest thing that I've ever had to deal with, and I cannot believe that I have been feeling sorry for myself when you are dealing with what you went through with your surgery and with your dad. Thank you for the push in the right direction to stop feeling sorry for myself and to get a move on dealing with things, because I could be dealing with so much worse! Love you girl! 🦄💖
