Pancho Amat ‘Testamento De Un Sonero’ | Video from 1986 | Studio Recording from 1985 | Tres Cubano

Here’s some wonderful footage of the worlds greatest Tres player Francisco Leonel 'Pancho' Amat way back in 1986 close to the end of his time with Grupo Manguaré a group that he himself founded fifteen years earlier.
The song is ‘Testamento De Un Sonero’ written by the bass player of Grupo Manguaré Andres Pedroso.
I have also included the studio recording of ‘Testamento De Un Sonero’ from the album ‘De Cuba’ from 1985 at 5:57.
I love Pancho’s work with Manguaré, however I always want to hear more Tres solos which are few and far between. In this song though you get a glimmer of the stunning technician Pancho will become in his later recordings.
Yes, the audio is terrible and there’s text directly over Pancho as he plays that incredible intro so the footage isn’t perfect, but it’s great to see nonetheless.
