Ive been a follower of this amazing man playing t His saxophone since he was with Sphere as a young beautiful man and also playing the flute. I guess I love him and his music through the years and many concerts and clubs and would love to see him play live again. Thankyou so much for this video ⭐️
Remember seeing Sphere at the Avon Gorge hotel in Bristol when Andy had long hair and there were punks sitting on the floor enjoying it. This documentary brings back fond memories.
The Talking Saxophone First broadcast: Thu 17th Nov 1988, 23:20 on BBC Two England A Portrait of Andy Sheppard Two years ago Andy Sheppard could be seen busking on the streets of Bath and Bristol. Now he packs the Colston Hall , has been voted the most promising musician of the year, has produced a best-selling album and is currently touring Europe, Japan and the US. His rise to stardom has been remarkable. But behind it lies the story of a man's total dedication to his saxophone. Picture editor ROB HARRINGTON Producer CAROLINE MAYNARI )
Great! I played on the same venue as Andy at the Roskilde Festival in Denmark ( when they had jazz. In a small tent well away from the Pop music area) way back, probably the time this interview/documentary was made. I play tenor and soprano also. I really dug his playing. It is real if you know what I mean.

Thanks Andy for your energy
So strange how they don't mention Sphere with Andy and Geoff Williams. So many great nights listening to that band in Bristol in the early eighties.
Been looking for this for years
Hey Michael - It's great isn't it? I also have Mavis on 4 with Andy and Ronnie Scott - will post soon.
