If being a good person was enough to get a person into Heaven, then God would have never had Jesus suffer the consequence of a sinner on the cross. Every person is born in sin. Hell is the consequence of sin. That's why it's so wonderful that God created a way out. He had Jesus come pay the debt of those who wanna be reconciled to God
