- I went frog fishing and a lot of things broke. I'm talking about my line, frogs, a nice Daiwa reel, and finally my will. It was one of those days that truly makes you question your ability as an angler. I wondered if I may have to delete my RUclips channel after a day like this!!!

Take randy on a pike charter for his birthday. Also make sure he’s got plenty of plastics in clamshells, a few spiders in the cargo short pockets and a nice diawa reel to use.

Also my local spot has a couple bald eagles around me and my feeshin friend spotted it with a juvenile last time we where out so freaking awesome to see them
I had an osprey dive in the water right in front of me trying to get a drink I was reeling in the other day. It was awesome
I did that to slx xt. I replaced my handle shaft and nut. Original handle on mine.

Those bass look almost like smallmouth, thats nuts! Gotta love those frog feesh. I have the same left handed hookset problem, half the time I rewatch the vid and I'm asking myself WHY DID MY ARM DO THAT? Heading up to Canada next weekend, it's gonna be a pikefest!
topwater pike are awesome!!! They launch themselves clear out of the water sometimes!

Do you think the Serrano rod in that heavy power is strong enough to pull bass out of thick pads, I mean clearly you did it here but I’m very interested in buying an okuma rod and I’m hoping that this model is strong enough. I would appreciate the feedback!
That's a KO hookset. I think all reel makers should send you their reels to make sure they pass the Debo frogging test.
My gomexus handle did the same. Gonna look into putting something on nut to keep from backing out.

🤨 Pike!!! Never had the pleasure. Now I've caught Chain Pickerel quite a few times!!! That's not a Pike!! Pike, well you know what I mean. Pickerel are a smaller version. Same vicious attitude but way smaller in size. I've caught em on Zoom Spider grubs and even jig n pig. Great fighting fish!!!! Good video 👊👊

Yes no leader unless it's a steel leader because of toothy stinky slime rockets
A lake I've been trying a lot lately has a pretty big finger SLAP PACK FULL of pads like what y'all fresher. I might have to load up my 🐸 n go try it out. Its so hot right now that the pads might be my chance to get a few feesh. 🎣🇺🇸🎣
Try the Tatula Elite if you love your Daiwa. It’s an amazing caster, on all my rods.
Debo I doubt you see this comment but if you do you need to try the jewel baits J lock flipping jig. It’s probably the best one I’ve used on the market. Along with the competitor to the war eagle jigs. The pro spider jigs are awesome lighter wire hooks great for medium action rods. Great video. Hope you get the reel fixed!

Is there such a thing as too sharp of a hook on a frog? I was frogging today and on my 5th cast the frog got tangled in my line. Pulled it out of the water and untangled. Checked kind and it looked alright. Went to cast a the frog went flying.
Could you give some pointers on setting the hook with a frog? Should I bend the hooks out? Should I set the hook immediately or wait a few seconds? Been trying to catch a frog fish with no luck. I've had plenty of bites, just can't hook one for more than a few seconds.
If you don't mind me asking- how big of a fella are you? And what power rod are you using? The reason I ask is because often, if you're having issues with a stiffer, really heavy rod- as far as planting the hooks- it's because you can't build enough momentum before you hit the back bone. It's actually stopping you from being able to get a good hook set. If you'll swap often to one power lower or just find a heavy that has a little more tip- one that will load a little deeper before you hit backbone- you'll be able slam it home because you can really build some momentum before you hit that stiff part of the rod. You might also try some frogs that have smaller hooks like a Jackall Kaera, Bobby's perfect, Jackall Iobee, etc. Lighter wire hooks are always easier to set.
As far as when to set the hook- that's debatable and lots of ppl differ on it. Personally I wait until after the initial blow up and make sure I feel that weight or see my line still moving- that the frog doesn't just pop right back up. But other guys say hit it the second they blow up on it. I don't know if there is a "right" way- I think its just whatever works for you.

I’ve been wondering what happened to my reel for years. Lews Lfs speed spool. Fell into a beaver hole a year ago and the handle been bent no matter how many times I bend it back. And the nut slips anytime I’m reeling or hook a fish. Now I think I know why

Okay okay…this literally happened to me last week. I was punching into cover, big bass hit my lure, and when I set the hook, my reel handle and components literally exploded off into my hands. Like, all of it. I had noticed a little wobble in the handle, but what exactly is it that is causing this to happen? Don’t understand enough about reel specs to see why this would happen. Glad to see I’m not the only one though!
wait. why are you using the daiwa nut with the gomexus handle? it could’ve been the angle, but that seems wrong. I run gomexus on a few of my reels and I use their nuts and ive never had an issue.

I think maybe the nut was a little loose causing the issue when you set the hook so hard. I never sat that hard lol I just pop the rod with a quick snap and I have good hook sets. But anyway the nut being just a little loose can cause a stripped thread. I've seen that before

They will just not bite a frog for me! I've changed up the color, shape, size, retrieve speed...slow and subtle, erratic and quick, pop the poppin frog, pop and stop, pop and go, parallel retrieves up against the cover, right in the muck, out in the open water, under trees, near wood. It must just not be for me!
I always thought the dark bass lived deep. Guess I was wrong.

My fishing isn't that good to where I break equipment, I do that solely on incompetence, stepping on rods or stabbing the roof rod a rod tip.
