Yeah I agree with costumes and makeup. Very creative and funny visuals for the people in the afterlife, all of them practical. But I guess it was left out because the movie had a mixed reception.
My favourites were: (I’m watching the brutalist tmrw) 10. A real pain 9. Sing sing 8. Nosferatu 7. Wicked 6. Challengers 5. The Substance 4. The Wild Robot 3. Anora 2. Furiosa 1. Dune Part 2
I will say, the brutalist isn’t really about building a building. that’s part of it. but the real core thing that is resonant is its a story about a jewish immigrant who left europe in the post holocaust years because he had to, and came to america to find out that the american dream was not accessible to him and that the refugees escaping europe were not wanted
I think Sonic 3 is being snubbed by too many of these lists. It’s easy to say “it’s a movie about talking animals so it doesn’t belong on here,” but that mentality is making people forget that it has a heartfelt lesson, a strong narrative, and a lot of work put into it (Jim Carrey literally spent 3 hours in the makeup chair to look right to play Gerald Robotnik). If Deadpool & Wolverine and Twisters belong on this list, then Sonic 3 deserves to be on here (don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love those movies, I’m just talking about an objective standpoint).
I don’t think how long someone spends in the makeup chair should be credited towards whether a movie deserves acclaim or not. If you’re going to go by that metric, you’d better be putting A Different Man and Nosferatu as your top 2 films of the year

Abigail - overrated Substance - underrated on the list, fairly rated generally speaking Late Night With The Devil - underrated Furiosa - underrated Challengers - fairly rated Deadpool & Wolverine - overrated Dune Part Two - fairly rated
Sean, I've really gotta disagree with you here. I just got out of The Brutalist, and I think it is anything but Oscar-bait. I found it absolutely immersive, inpactful, and fascinating. I do see how it wouldn't be for everyone, but it is now my personal favorite of 2024.
Hit Man - overrated Twisters - underrated Inside Out 2 - underrated Late Night with the Devil - underrated The Wild Robot - overrated Furiosa - properly rated Gladiator II - properly rated Challengers - underrated Civil War - underrated Deadpool & Wolverine - overrated Dune: Part Two - overrated Wicked - overrated
The race between these two is exactly how it was for me with Spider Verse and The Boy and The Heron. Loved both, same with Robot and Flow, but man, they’re just so so good 🔥 easily some the best films of last year imo
my favourite movies of 2024 are alien romulus Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes beetlejuice bettlejuice furiosa wicked the wild robot deadpool and wolverine sonic the hedgehog 3 mufasa the lion king inside out 2 moana 2 dune part 2 the substance nosferatu 2024
I have Twisters and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice in my top 10. Wild Robot and Inside Out 2 are in my top 20, so I'm close to this list there. Of course Dune should score high.
That what I like about civil war it not about the set of the war or what realistic or politically could happen. If focus on the danger and emotion of what would an individual feel in a modern American civil war. It’s not about how it happen it what’s happen in it.
The picks I disagree with the most are films like Wicked, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, Gladiator II, Abigail, Deadpool and Wolverine, and a few more. Now I loved Deadpool and Wolverine, but best best best? Even I have my limits as a fan. Happy to see Flow, The Wild Robot, Dune, Furiosa, Anora, and Challengers all in there, and relatively high
Babygirl- way overrated Abigail- didn’t see Flow- didn’t see Hit Man- overrated Twisters- correctly rated The Substance- didn’t see Inside Out 2- underrated Late Night with the Devil- didn’t see The Wild Robot- way underrated Furiosa- correctly rated The Brutalist- didn’t see Gladiator 2- didn’t see The Last Showgirl- didn’t see Challengers- overrated Beetlejuice Beetlejuice- way overrated Civil War- underrated Anora- didn’t see Deadpool & Wolverine- overrated Dune 2- overrated Wicked- overrated I’m not ranking these films here in relation to how they ranked on my list last year but rather if I think they deserve to be this high on this list instead
simple overrated- dune part 2 (for some reason can't understand why everyone thinks this is the greatest movie of 2024) it just seems boring at times, bettlejuice bettlejuice, hitman(just don't understand the 95% audience score for this, the ending and just didn't seem funny to me), gladiator 2. underrated- furiosia kingdom of the planet of the apes, and civil war. properly rated-deadpool and wolverine, transformers one, the wild robot, sonic the hedgehog 3 and inside out 2.
Gladiator II was disappointing considering how great (or very good) it could have been. Hit Man was entertaining until the final act (if you've seen it, you know what I mean). Didn't bother with The Brutalist, or The Substance, or Anora aka the Stripper Movie, or The Conclave, or Emilia Perez aka The One the Academy Loves Because its Star is the First Openly Transgender actor. Gonna catch up with some of the ones I missed last year like A Real Pain, Twisters, etc. The Wild Robot is my favorite of the year (you might say I'm WILD about it!). D&W is highly overrated, but that's mainly because I don't really enjoy Ryan Reynolds and is VERY TIRED of the Multiverse (just because you make fun of it doesn't mean it works for your movie!). That said, I always enjoy me some Hugh Jackman, and watching these two real-life buddies play off each other is great fun...even if I can only watch it for so long.
Judging by this list, here’s how what I think about them being overrated, underrated, or properly rated Overrated: Deadpool & Wolverine Civil War Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Gladiator II Late Night with the Devil Underrated: The Wild Robot Inside Out 2 The Substance Hit Man Properly Rated: Wicked Dune: Part Two Anora Challengers Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga Twisters Abigail Have Yet to Watch: Babygirl Flow The Brutalist The Last Showgirl
Finally someone that says Deadpool and Wolverine was overrated It was expensive, stupid but still good Trash I was so excited for this And was disappointed a lot
Civil War is actually my personal #1, so I was glad to finally see it getting some love on someone's list. That movie just moved me and stuck with me like few other movies have this year.
Beetlejuice 2 got snubbed for make up, costume desing and production design and the fact that Emilia Pérez got nominated 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
Yeah I agree with costumes and makeup. Very creative and funny visuals for the people in the afterlife, all of them practical. But I guess it was left out because the movie had a mixed reception.
@@macncheeze256and Emelia Perez didn’t? Literally everyone except awards voters hates that film
@@ChrisThomson-y7l yeah im also pretty pissed about that movie, as a mexican. Sucks that it's the big oscars movie this year.
Both very mediocre films
@@FreshOutTheSlammers13 At least Beetlejuice is fun. It’s a mess but it’s still fun

I actually agree lowkey. I was about to say Sonic 3 no matter how much I adore it is a blockbuster, but that’s exactly what these other films are 🤣
I don’t think how long someone spends in the makeup chair should be credited towards whether a movie deserves acclaim or not. If you’re going to go by that metric, you’d better be putting A Different Man and Nosferatu as your top 2 films of the year

@ I was only using that as an example. Other examples include Keanu Reeves turning down Star Wars to play Shadow and just how crisp every shot looked.

I didn't see a lot of movies this year, but Gladiator II would probably be my least favorite. I was thoroughly disappointed.
Captain America Brave New World is budgeted at 180 million. Not a rumor but from Legit sources. Do a video on that.
I've heard great things about Nosferatu, and I'm surprised it isn't on here…

And was disappointed a lot
Hope you enjoy Flow when you see it man! And respectable list.
@RandomguyfromtheinternetN1 he did. He’s just going off the list and where exactly it ranks
@ ahhhhh that makes sense
Hit man is a 2023 film but whatever
You should watch “late night with the devil” I loved it.
I’m one of the few that did not find this movie amazing. I still like it but not too 20 at all
@@jacobyall-star447 I didn’t love it either, but I’m picky with horror to begin with. Nosferatu actually struck a chord with me
This list frustrated me! 😅
❤❤❤❤
Civil War is actually my personal #1, so I was glad to finally see it getting some love on someone's list. That movie just moved me and stuck with me like few other movies have this year.
Pretty sure that list is just 20 movies and not ranked. Normally they use ranked in the title if the list is ranked.
Emilia Perez should have been on the list, easily the best movie of the year and possibly of all time.
I will never understand the hype for Deadpool and Wolverine
True
I was so excited when they announced Hugh Jackman will come back
But it was just expensive but still good Trash
