Having actually summited Gasherbrum 2 in summer I can not even fathom how much harder it would be in winter. What these guys did especially the first winter ascent in the Karakorum is out of this world incredible!
In March 2009 we went to GII from the Chinese side, up the GII glacier, trying to find a route for a first winter ascent via that side. Jaques Olek organized this trip. Needless to say, that glacier was deadly. Congratulations on the first ascent!
Exceptional work, my friends. Salute from Faisalabad, Pakistan. Can only just dream of such an achievement. But am going to walk in SOME of your footsteps. Planning to trek Concordia, K2 BC, Gondogoro La, this June, Allah Willing.
Lucky sob's. Proud of you boys. Man thst was close. The spirits were on your side that day ... may they continue to protect you during all your endeavors. ✌️😎
There are options: some may dislike the friendship that happens on the mountain between alpinists of any race\people\country, or there are some fuckheads who think alpinism is possible without tears, pain and falls... Anyways, this is a good video, and much respect goes to Simone Moro and Denis Urubko for keeping the international spirit of alpinism high!
Mountain climbing, is so challenging because you enter a space were humans are not supposed to go. It is hostile territory. 5'26" & 7'06" my god ! Physically so demanding. I believe you pushed it too far, you were lucky. ( luck comes to those who are prepared !? ). I am very happy to see you made it back :0) Special thanks to the cameraman who had the strenght and courage to keep on filming.
Wow that avalanche could have been the end of the story, crazy lucky to escape from that the way they did, amazing achievement summiting in the winter in those conditions.
Attend the Speaker Series, an epic tour enabling you to discover the story of the Gasherbrum II winter ascent ever. Simone Moro, Denis Urubko and Cory Richards will tell you a special story, in five countries, in five worthy locations.
I think it's the most dangerous sport in the world (taking into account the number of deaths). By the way, Polish expedition is attacking Broad Peak this winter.
Not a difficult task ,but stay out from country and successfully complete their mission is very difficult to everyone .Any how i congregate to team leader and every member of the team hope u will remember killer mountain for ever
i belong this country Our pride K.2 Naga perbut bread peack gasherburm tirich mir it's means three moutain range Kara kuram hindokush himalayas located and meet together at a same point jagloot
I am not a good mountaineer, either have any experience using such ropes, but i believe that no.Even if there was some ropes, they would be buried in the snow.
God, the sound on this documentary is literally the worst in the history of cinematic sound design. Jesus Christ it was so fucking annoying, along with the boring narration. Such a shame because the journey seemed amazing, but this doc made it completely underwhelming. An epic achievement, that appears uniquely mundane.

Cory came to my high school to speak today when he could have been doing a thousand other important things, his story is truly an inspiration

I took this comment to mean that those who disliked the vid were 'inspirational' -- which is true, for accomplished assholes.

Quick Question. Were safety ropes laid beforehand to help the climbers ?

Goodmorning, which is the music from minute 4.07 to minute 5.30?

Franch europe? Maybe arabic and african?european nation is slowly death.
"something went terribly, terribly wrong.." ...but it wasn't so bad after all.
Who is fixing the ropes?
It is really harsh and wild in karakoram.
This is what the film cold is about
No avalanche footage?
Chubachus -- watch another documentary on RUclips "Cold" -- I guess he filmed it -- he is part of this team...
Chubachus -- the guy who was crying to camera has captured the moments I guess, I'm not sure if its real footage of the avalanche---

Встретились как-то американец, итальянец и русский...
Chuck Norris was the first person to summit all fourteen 8000 meter peaks during winter in sandals, shorts, and a tank top
I heard that he ripped the mountains out of the ground and stacked them on top of each other to actually provide somewhat of a challenge...
He peed on the moon from the summit.
I would do this.............in a video game
They did, but two of them died.
They're all alive to date.
Two of them died by the Broad Peak first winter ascent, not here.
Rip
