I really think she would have been fine from this fall. Watch it again, maybe even play it in slow or motion. The physics dont add up to the final momentum after he makes contact her momentum starts to reverse before he even gets to a point of flipping her around so I think your own hands stopped her.
Johnathan Berner Maybe but who really knows? The coach definitely kept her from injuries that she could have received from falling off the high bar. There may be those pads for their safety, but does it really guarantee that they won’t get hurt upon falling?
The coach is good at gymnastics that he is able to notice that things aren't going right before anyone else and is able to figure out how to intervene in a matter of seconds. I'm in awe of such level of mastery.

Yeah it’s more of a save than a catch. It looks like he does nothing, but I think he grabs her arm and helps twist her so she hits the mat on her hands & knees instead of her head/neck
The roll he did is also important. You can see he kicks his legs up to make upward momentum and break the girls fall. The roll over her afterwards was to keep it moving and disperse it.
Jesus that was amazing!!! The way that he knew how to flip his body around while cradling her to ensure that she didn’t land on her head and he didn’t land falling on her is insane! Those instincts in that split second...WOW!
That's one hell of a coach. He actually went over top of her to reverse her momentum and being her back up to avoid a broken neck. Simply catching her wouldn't have been enough. He had to reverse the fall. To have the presence of mind to know that and then execute it in that moment is amazing.
@@theWACKIIRAQI Momentum can be deadly no matter how soft the landing material, or how small the jump. The coach isn't just catching her, he altered her momentum and rolled with her to prevent serious harm. I nearly snapped my back while playing crack the egg on a trampoline when I was 13. One of the jumps flipped me on my stomach and I couldn't get my hands and knees under me in time. I have a double jointed back so it could have been a lot worse than some bad bruising. I didn't even bounce more than maybe a foot, but my momentum, kinetic energy, was the largest factor in my injury.
@@theWACKIIRAQI If you slow down and look closely, the way she would have landed, head and face down followed by the momentum of her body falling, could have broken her neck or worse... she's incredibly blessed he was there to catch her
If you go in slow-mow you can see that he did not have time to catch her but she put her hands out and then he caught her when she was able to portent her front side but he helped her transition resulting in anything that could have lead to something bad. so he still saved her
Bballstar 525 Which, unfortunately, happens. It happened with another man who saved a little girl from death and was later sued by the girl’s parents were “sexually assaulting” their daughter
Which makes her lucky... if he wasn't there or of was another coach who couldn't catch her, things would turn out to be very different. She's very lucky in that sense
i'm not amazed that he caught her. he was expecting her. what is really amazing is how he took advantage of the laws of physics in his roll. THAT was some quick, and precise thinking/acting. i wouldnt have been able to pull that off.
This is still too amazing to me. That takes some amazing skill to be able to do what he did. Do all coaches know how to do that? Is that like a safety requirement that coaches have to know? Or is he just an amazing talented person that did that on instinct?
Iveta H He should have been there to spot her in case of an accident, but the exact move he did to catch her like that, was all him. You're trained to help spot and protect and catch people, but not like that. His quick thinking, and that epic roll, was all him.
Gymnastic coaches have to know how to catch their girls and boys to keep them from getting hurt otherwise gymnastic would be far more dangerous. But most aren't near that good. Only high level coaches who have been training professional gymnasts for YEARS can do something like that
Was literally going to comment about this because I’m shocked not a lot of people noticed it- you can clearly see her bounce of her hands as the coach stepped in. If she hadn’t done that she could have possibly still gotten injured, maybe just not as severe as if the coach hadn’t been there. Good teamwork 👍
But yall if you look closely he grabbed her waist/clothe reducing maybe 15% to 30% of the impact force and supported when she had her hands there, if he wasn't there even if she put her hands with all her might her head will still squash against the matt thing causing injury 0:27
@@PrincessPoohs you can CLEARLY see that's literally effort from both. Her hands stalled long enough for him to help finish the recovery. He literally had his momentum in by the time her arms were giving out. Neither did it all alone.
He has good spotting skills, but in this case, the gymnast got her arms out in time and lifted her head enough to save herself. He had the smarts and quick moves to not fall right on top of her afterwards.
well I think the gymnast still would of had a nasty fall if he wasn't there because I think he held the bottom half of her and lifted which is why her head lifted but I see what you mean
Last week I had a bad fall from my bike. But only days before I had purchased a bike helment, "just in case." When I flew over the handlebars, the first thing to strike the ground was my head, but that new helmet saved my life. This coach was like that helmet, only in human form. When accidents happen, they happen very, very fast. But sometimes, like me and this little girl, there's a guardian angel sitting on our shoulders. We should all care for each other as well.

That's one hell of a coach. He actually went over top of her to reverse her momentum and being her back up to avoid a broken neck. Simply catching her wouldn't have been enough. He had to reverse the fall. To have the presence of mind to know that and then execute it in that moment is amazing.
Almost died or became paralyzed: "it did scare me a little"
Is that right? Seriously asking. Why would she be hurt given that theres plenty of mats and such.
Yes. It can happen even with the mats. A lot of gymnasts hit there heads or crush their necks and become blind or paralyzed.
@@theWACKIIRAQI If you slow down and look closely, the way she would have landed, head and face down followed by the momentum of her body falling, could have broken her neck or worse... she's incredibly blessed he was there to catch her
Yh them soft mats look really harmful

I wish I had a coach like this my coach would just look at me crack my neck then ask if I'm ok

Amazing reflexes!! Thank God he was paying such close attention to how her routine was going and had the skill to save her!👍🏽
If you go in slow-mow you can see that he did not have time to catch her but she put her hands out and then he caught her when she was able to portent her front side but he helped her transition resulting in anything that could have lead to something bad. so he still saved her

I’m glad the mom didn’t try to sue the coach for “inappropriately touching” their daughter like some psychos do

That was serious spotting lol. That is what you’d expect from a well trained coach honestly.

@@monyethutan2752 yeah really.
That was incredible. Not only does he catch her, but he then flips over her to keep himself from landing on top of her. Wow.
As he pushed himself upward he was canceling her energy downward and simultaneously tucking her.
She’s not lucky, she had a quick thinking coach! He was being vigilant! Great job coach!

Me and her just would've both broke our necks
The roll is the least impressive part tho. It’s a common skill in gymnastic or parkour to prevent injuries
@@bobbysingh5666 not while catching someone. Dont downplay someone, jackass
Some call it precise thinking and action...some call it luck. If anything it was more of a reflex
@@mikedeyulio736 and skill he is a gymnastics coach
This is still too amazing to me. That takes some amazing skill to be able to do what he did. Do all coaches know how to do that? Is that like a safety requirement that coaches have to know? Or is he just an amazing talented person that did that on instinct?
Iveta H He should have been there to spot her in case of an accident, but the exact move he did to catch her like that, was all him. You're trained to help spot and protect and catch people, but not like that. His quick thinking, and that epic roll, was all him.
Iveta H hi
Brianna Gordy Beautiful
Iveta H I weigh almost 150 (I'm a guy) and my coach can hold me in his arms if I mess up too badly
Gymnastic coaches have to know how to catch their girls and boys to keep them from getting hurt otherwise gymnastic would be far more dangerous. But most aren't near that good. Only high level coaches who have been training professional gymnasts for YEARS can do something like that
You can clearly see how even he maintaiance his body after catching the kid, a true gymnast and a professional himself.
This save took teamwork too, if she didn’t put down her arms she would’ve hit her neck/ head, good reflexes
Yeah, she honestly saved herself. He barely touched her at all. He’s great and all, but he didn’t catch her like everyone is saying.
@@PrincessPoohs put the playback in slow-motion. the coach barely touches her, then vaults over her. good intent.
@@PrincessPoohs you can CLEARLY see that's literally effort from both. Her hands stalled long enough for him to help finish the recovery. He literally had his momentum in by the time her arms were giving out. Neither did it all alone.
I love how he was there ready to catch her again

He has good spotting skills, but in this case, the gymnast got her arms out in time and lifted her head enough to save herself. He had the smarts and quick moves to not fall right on top of her afterwards.
PaddleFar agreed
well I think the gymnast still would of had a nasty fall if he wasn't there because I think he held the bottom half of her and lifted which is why her head lifted but I see what you mean
PaddleFar ikr it just appeared that he saved her but if you look closely he did nothing but almost fall on top of her
Smiley Ky could have still had broken wrists or possibly even worst had he not caught her
Last week I had a bad fall from my bike.
Damn. He was doing his mf'n job congrats to this guy. 🏆

He saved his athlete and did it stylish as well
looks like she stopped herself and he just flipped her. he didn't know how bad it was going to be so he took the initiative.
Jay Ireland he hooked his arm around her waist to stop her fall. If you watch closely you see him do that and kinda pull up so he can flip her over so he could save her
+lalonda1995 even if he did nothing she would've just landed on her face and arms she would've been fine. the point of the video is that he didn't hesitate
Alexis Pestorious If you look at the way her head was, she would've most likely broken her neck.
Marc Bryant Discrediting an argument by criticizing where someone is from. How original.
