@jetter820 surely has an effect on power but does it even register if you have a bigger truck? Im hard on the fence now between the two over the extra pounds but I wasnt too impressed with the ko2's in the wet weather unless I was in 4hi so i may go with the atw4 this time and risk the minor nerfing.
@@userfriendly06 I honestly don’t notice a loss in power. The truck steers nicer than with OEM wheels, and I only get a couple MPGs less. Truck is a F150 5.0. And I can say the Wildpeaks perform great on wet roads.
I had Falken AT3W on my Suburban for the past year. I did have BFG K02 which were really good up to about 50k miles and then wet traction was non existent . Yesterday I ordered BFG KM3 I have friends with a Jeep Wrangler, Toyota 4Runner and a Tahoe use KM3 and they love those tires
Turning 77k miles on a set of 295/60R20 KO2s. Mounted on a 2500 Ram diesel that does a lot of towing. Seriously impressed with the KO2s longevity…not sure if I’d see that again maybe I got a lucky set of tires.
I put a set of ko2s on my old tacoma in 2017. Brother has the truck now, still has the tires on it. Think theyre at roughly 70k or 80k now. Im About to put some on my 2024 chevy now and get these Goodyears gone.
Struggling to decide between 3 tires. BFG KO3 in 295/75r16, Falken AT4W in 285/75r16, and Mickey Thompson AT BB in 285/75r16. While the KO3 is technically the largest size on paper, BFG tends to run small. Paper Heights are 33.4, 33.1, and 33.1 respectively. Widths are 11.6, 11.6. and 11.7 respectively. I am curious which tire is physically the largest in the real world, and not on paper.. @OutdoorAuto, can you help answer that confidently? Thanks for all your efforts on tire videos!
Mickey Thompson is running a $150 rebate on select tires. Great tires, made in U.S. Falken is a great tire too I would go with one of those personally.
Dude I love the KO series tire. I've got an 03 outback and the difference from just regular radials is absolutely astonishing. It's a manual, and these tires just make it so much easier to drive regardless of how much heavier they are. My dad's got a 200 series Land Cruiser that he just put some 33 inch KO3's on and they're also phenomenal on that truck
I'll keep my Firestone destination mt and wildpeak RT all day long, enjoy your new ko3 with 15/32, I'll keep my destination m/t with 22/32 and Falken RT with 20/32 and the sidewall is an inch thick
Ohh.. forgot to mention..while i was getting my K03 installed..in the waiting area I was able to watch USA men Basketball Team come back from being down to Serbia to Win in the Last minutes of the Game . AWESOME GAME AWESOME TIRES..it was a good Day.
Extra bad news = made from the same compounds and in the same factory as the KO 2’s and they now only last a half to a quarter of the time of the originals and the grip is abysmal
I’ve been running these tires on my vehicles since 1980….. it seems like this update is clearly focused on car manufacturer demands for better on road efficiency and safety for the majority of users who will likely never take their 4x4 off a paved surface. Is the tire still the crowned leader for off road ALL TERRAIN capabilities. When designing this tire the auto manufacturers under massive pressure form the Biden administration progressive left green religion have demanding all ICE base transportation meet nearly impossible emissions and efficiency standards. So we are seeing softer compounds, probably doubling of siping, closer packed main tread, lighter weight, more flexible sidewalls, and when compared to the KO2, pretty solid improvement for the conditions people will be driving on the majority of the time. Here is what makes me sad about the direction BFG has gone with this iconic name tire. I’m the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s Compared to the available competitors of that era.. the BFG AT was the best AT tire. It had wide enough spacing in the tread to function well in mud, deep snow etc. Personally I would like to have seen BFG focus on making the absolute quintessential off road tire that is the best off road balance of design trade offs for ALL Terrain off road while providing acceptable on road performances. I would much have preferred deeper tread, much wider spread tread to void mud and deep snow, over 12”when it’s better to ride up on the snow while deep lugs push the vehicle forward. It just no longer looks like an off road tire to me.
the weight increase is very dependent on size, Load Rating and whether you are getting the HD tires for full size trucks... some of the sizes barley have a weight increase... I recommend checking your size and Load rating on their site and seeing where you end up in the mix.
I won the lottery by purchasing a set of AT4Ws instead of waiting for the KO3s thanks to you!
Me 2! Just for them last month, Falken For the Win!
Did you notice the extra weight at all. Each one of those tires weighs 67lbs.
@@jetter820 Full size truck with a v8. The extra weight doesn’t matter to me.

I won won the size lottery. 03 Durango R/T w/ 2 inch lift. Ordered 285/70R17s right before release. One of 2 available sizes at the time
I'm pretty happy with my new Mickey Thompson Baja Boss MTs - I was tempted to wait for the K03, but I think I'm happier with the Mickey's
They need to make them for 15 inch rims

I work at discount tire. The Ko2s are getting amazing mileage but the Ko3s do not receive the same mileage
Do they still completely fall apart on rocks??
Ill stick to the cooper st maxx. Best all around tire to do everything.
Are they any better on their actual size vs.listed? In the past they have always been WAY smaller than what they said they were.
Will the K02s be discontinued?
Not sure what size I need, I have 33x12.5x18 right now. Do these tires come in my size or do I have to wait?
Got 295 60r20’s on my Tacoma last week. Great tire so far.
I won! 285/70 17 but I just put KO twos on there about a year ago and I have not traveled that many miles so there you have it.
That sucks. Was really hoping to see more sizes than that.
Struggling to decide between 3 tires. BFG KO3 in 295/75r16, Falken AT4W in 285/75r16, and Mickey Thompson AT BB in 285/75r16. Dang looks sweet tho I'd love some on my 2002 f350
Ordered mine today.. my appointment is this Wednesday
Babe wake up, new tire just dropped!
Think I’m gonna stick with my Wildpeak at3w lol
lol indeed.
Waiting for 265/70/R17 in load range C for my Tacoma.
Will they have white lettering?
Yes they do.
@@OutdoorAuto sweet!
That’s good news, originally I was hearing they weren’t going to have it.
Why aren’t there as many C load options that are a decent weight ? It’s all super heavy E.
It just came out so it’s phenomenal ?
I am running a 275/70R18 so… YEP! Good info here and Thanks!
I have them on my truck for 2 years already
Gave up on waiting and got burned out on the hype. Went with Mickey Thompson for my Power Wagon.
Those are great tires too… love mine on the Land Cruiser.
I'll keep my Firestone destination mt and wildpeak RT all day long, enjoy your new ko3 with 15/32, I'll keep my destination m/t with 22/32 and Falken RT with 20/32 and the sidewall is an inch thick
Yep I won the tire size lottery
Me too. 285s
can't wait for a 37ish equivalent
Ohh.. forgot to mention..while i was getting my K03 installed..in the waiting area I was able to watch USA men Basketball Team come back from being down to Serbia to Win in the Last minutes of the Game . AWESOME GAME AWESOME TIRES..it was a good Day.
Just got mine installed on my 4 Runner
33 r15. ??
Purchased the Wildpeak AT4W instead of the KO3. Couldn’t be happier
Those are both excellent tires
But do these suck in the wet like the KO/2
265/75R16👍⚙️ 2003 F150 4.6L2v 520000km. The KO2 is a little floaty in the rain.
Just put on the 295/70R18 and was only available through Discount Tire. 👌
What did you put them on? I have a 2020 Trail Boss, unmodified.
Bad news is it's not as deep of a tread as the ko2, tread depth is a big deal to me indicates how long it will last most of all
Is the KO3 lighter than the KO2?
Not that I saw. I compared specs of a 305/70R16 and the Ko3 was 0.9 pounds heavier.
Heck yeah 275/70R18!
I won and i lost. My tires are released but i dont need them because I already bought new tires 10k miles ago.
Maybe the ko3 will go further than 52000km to wear to 3/32. That's on a half ton imagine a 3/4 ton
Will it actually balance though every Tire Guy hates these and says they won't balance😂
No tall skinnys! Dang
I can't find duratracs either
Just got mine 265/75/16
Sadly not in the size I need till may of 2025, I need a 37x12.50r17
That size is confirmed for 2025... I need that size too.
Extra bad news = made from the same compounds and in the same factory as the KO 2’s and they now only last a half to a quarter of the time of the originals and the grip is abysmal
Meh. Still prefer my Mickey Thompsons.
Picks up a lot of rocks to destroy your doors
People still buy bfg? They only last 30k. My cooper's look the same as those with 40k.
Haha, I got some months ago

❤
KO2s look better IMO
Go with the falkens don't wast time on BFG
I'll take falken Wildpeaks AT4Ws over these awful tires any day. I prefer products with decent quality control that are actually made well.
It will still hydroplane ... No through groves.
I need 37/16
Why does it weigh so much!

Well this tire is going to be worse then the k02
I want 35 12.5 20 😢
325/60/20 would be your go-to. It’s basically a 35x12.8x20
A 35 12.5 20 is 35.02 inches in diameter, whereas a 325/60/20 is 35.35 inches in diameter
I did
Lucky... I did not.
Nope
