Oh no, wait they don't actually care about the history so rather than use that timeline they have probably decided the stupid timeline some scholars follow which places the end of the Sengoku period decades into the Edo period is the most correct despite it being objectively dumb when you think about it for half a second.
They thought they could match the anachronistic charm of IPs like _Samurai Champloo_ and _Afro Samurai_ while having no idea why each worked so well

It’s extremely upsetting to see stuff like this. And the reason they’re doing this is obvious. Western audiences don’t know all that much about the histories of other countries and cultures, so they’re trying to rewrite history in their own twisted image. It’s sick.
I find it weird Ubisoft is so insistent that their MC is historically accurate and then flame people who prove them wrong with more than 2 seconds of research. I don't get why they're doubling down so hard on the wrong story, also the fact if the two playable characters were both just Japanese and he could've been a character you interact with as a historical figure like they've always done

@@Herozonex200yea, but the point is Ubisoft initially doubled down so hard on claiming that it was, and then backpedaled back to it’s just historical fiction when they got called out by anyone and everyone capable of a 2 second google search. Also the amount of stuff just blatantly wrong about the era the game is set in, or just things that aren’t even from Japan just shows how little they actually care about both the culture and the game. Gameplay alone would never be able to save any of the last like 5 AC games, and the lack of care already shown with the world itself tells us that it’s likely neither the gameplay or the story received much better care.

I doubt that it had anything to do with it, especially since I watched information today that Ghost of Yotei may be infected as well. It's not a surprise since anything popular these days immediately attracts people who want to use it for their own purposes other than what it's meant to do.

Lets be real. AC has too much clout as a franchise to be remotely Concord levels of dead. This may or may not be the worst performing AC game ever, but I doubt it'll be Concord levels of dead. That was a new IP. AC will have die hards buy it no matter what the way people buy the new iphone even though the only difference is the camera now has 1 more mega pixel.
Thinking this is gonna be Concord is naive and underestimating the power of branding.
This is an existing IP, so it will last longer than a few weeks.

Its like that in all cultures. The new generations don't understand how things used to work. In Mexico back in the day. You had to grow the corn. Process the corn. Then make the corn into tortillas. Slowly things changed. Then you could get the flour at the store. Then you could get the tortillas pressed ready to cook. Then eventually you could buy them freshly made and cooked in a little bit of paper. Then eventually that died off and now you buy them like here in America. In packages. I went to Mexico last time and they got rid of the local presses that sold the piping hot tortillas. Now its almost all packaged. Its really sad. The worst part is the new generation doesn't even know how we got to this point. They don't know about how things used to be. And as they don't understand old suffering. They are really bratty. You always get the okay boomer.
It’s just an appreciation that comes with age. Convenience will always be prioritized throughout generations, but the art of how it used to be has to be instilled from our generation to the next.
Straight up making tortillas from scratch is a pain 😂 I used to wake up at 5 am to help my grandma make them. They taste so much better and I got accustomed to making them, but I can totally see why someone would find the process annoying.

Here's the problem, Ubisoft used to have such accurate construction in their games that historians would cry while playing assassin's Creed unity. We are not holding Ubisoft to a higher standard. When we ask for historical accuracy in an assassin's Creed game, we are holding them to the standard that they themselves set

yeah at the very bare minimum the architecture should be accurate and detailed as it always has been. if they can recreate ancient grease then they can do japan. japan was all made of wood back then and settlements were small it wouldnt have been hard.
Well, Ubisoft is a French studio. Not surprising that they made certain to give more respect and accuracy to their own country's history. Unfortunate that they're not giving shadows the same treatment.

Not even in times of war. Maybe guards during wartime but this isn't even really wartime. The coup that overthrew Oda was relatively quick because it was an insidious betrayal cleverly planned and executed. Then afterwards the war moved to the half of Japan that Oda had not gotten around to conquering/unifying so the part shown in the game would have been relatively peaceful, certainly no bushi in full armor except guards at noble's manors, the emperor's palace, and the shogun's palace. The guards patrolling the streets would just be in clothing and would anyone not actively guarding something. Armor isn't comfortable, people don't just wear it 24/7. You put it on for a few hours before a battle, sit around, fight for like 10 minutes max, stay ready for a couple more hours in case of follow-up attack, then take it off.

The weird ropes at the start make perfect sense considering it's an Assassins Creed game.
Look at the placement. It's so you can run on them and hop onto the roof there while doing typical Assassins Creed parkour with the ninja character. They obviously went function over substance all over the place.
Why wouldn't they fix this for a cinematic trailer you ask? Because they're going the cheap and easy route and use their in-game world instead doing a proper cinematic.

I think the "Samurai Warriors" games are more historically accurate this this game seems to be, and those games have Ieyasu Tokugawa with a handheld cannon spear, Nobunaga Oda getting shadow demon wings as he goes evil super saiyan and cuts his enemies down, and ninjas using actual ninjutsu magic.

I'm definitely convinced they used AI to make the stuff in this game. That's why the buildings, locations, and flora, are sometimes inconsistent, abnormally shaped, placed weirdly at times, and have misshapen or oddly chosen parts and features. Those are like the same signs you'd see on AI artworks with oddly shaped and numbered fingers, toes, limbs, lines, coloring, etc.
Dashblue have just released a video analysing ghost of yotei trailer and it's really good.
Imagine if ACS becomes a success because everyone in Japan buys it for laughs

Yeah, I know AC is not JE, but Jade Empire *was* 1) a *fantasy* game 2) that *did* research and 3) stuck *closely* to the folklore of the region (China not Japan, but from the get-go it was supposed to be a wuxia fantasy).
That being said, since BioWare isn't resurrecting jade Empire, I'll *play* AC Shadows instead... and I'll play it *without* buying it.

That bamboo should be alot denser, it's a grass. I think they assumed the singular clum was the whole plant, rather than part of a single plant. It's not impossible for a bamboo plant to have a single clum (stem), but in the wild they should have a lot more and be densely clumped together (it's an absolute pain to navigate when doing field entomology).
As a fan of the older ub***ft games, I am glad to see the company still providing entertainment through fresh perspectives...

Actually there are many cases of knights in full plate armour in the winter, what they did is they lined the inside of the armour with leather or furs to keep it warm. You'd need armour specifically made for winter as it would be larger on your body

I hate to be that guy but I have to be that guy. In regards to the scene with Yasuke walking through the snow there is nothing wrong. You see he is wearing patented Ubi heated armour to keep himself warm. You would have seen it in the gameplay clip where a guard could afford the helmet that kept snow off him. Well off his head anyway.
To be fair, I don't think people have ever scrutinized a trailer this hard before,. Pretty damn bad though considering Ubisoft's budget. There definitely should have been some Japanese consultants (other than Thomas Lockley) for the architecture, environments, clothing etc. I think these were filmed inside the game engine using existing animations which is why there's so much clipping etc. when normally trailers have been completely separate product from the game. Also now that game companies have fired all the veteran artists and animators, because of politics and to save money, all they have left are some drooling folk that can't really do much else than put words in an AI prompt in an attempt to get a result.

Wooden structures were common in Ancient Japan, even in the equivalent of forts/castles, due to the amount of earthquakes making European style stone architecture inadvisable in the extreme, unless you liked wearing the walls.....
Its like they took an AI art generator with the prompt East Asian art, architecture, culture, and then put it all together and claim "very immersive".

1 arm being armoured is normally done for a reason and the weapons and defences (eg shields) compliment That choice. like Roman Gladiator's shield arm being armoured up, but maybe the other not or only done partly, I assume to keep the weight down. Armour can be heavy. That is not arguing for or against what is shown, but bring up a point of functionality that can be criticized. What is it supposed to do....

Also, I remember in Assassin's Creed Valhalla, if you were in England, it was summer time, but if you rode up to Scotland, it was the deepest winter. Almost as if you were in the arctic circle.
Also in the starting area before you sail to England, it was deep winter, but for some reason they were harvesting vegetables covered in snow.

I own this game. Sakuna of Rice and Ruin, in summary the game is a blend of side scrolling action game with rice farming. You improve your powers and different stats by taking care of your rice field in what's essentially the hub. The game is very fun as both action game and farming simulator, and is very detailed in rice sowing, growing and harvesting process. You can even create fertilizers to buff Sakuna and even pay attention for rice deseases.
You can tell that the devs had fun with this game since once there was an update two just let you carry 2 at a time of the cats and dogs you find in the hub.
This game is a hidden gem that most people don't know about.
These metal workers think they’re Australian! Next you’ll see them jumping into a chlorine filled swimming pool with a overheated part of metal (because in day light you won’t be able to easily tell when the correct temperature is reached) and then everything catches fire!

I am dead sure 100% they heavily use "AI" in dev process. But it just spews out the mashup of everything at once, it doesn't actually know anything. What we see here is that they blindly trust it. Even if they put "correct promts" asking for specific things, they do not double check it. Or there is a chance that they just don't fcking know what they are doing. Or both. But it looks like "future with AI" is really here, big corpos smelled money, jumped balls deep, then looks like doubt crept in (looking and delays and such). Oh wow who could've known you can't swap actual artists and historians with Solomon Temple.
If the previous video of theirs didn't give a hint that Poopysoft used AI for their environments... this video SCREAMS it.

I played that Sakuna on Switch and I can say it's a hidden gem. The story is cute, heroic, and bitter sweet.
You are playing as Sakuna, a spoiled and bratty loli goddess but then you got punished by the higher ups and sent to below world to work as farmer and helps other ppl around you and beat monsters to humble yourself. And you also search the truth about your parents. It's trully a hidden gem.
I hope they make a sequel of it.

Archers wore their full armor on only the arm holding the actual bow to protect from the snap of the bow and because their other hand had to flow smoothly so needed to be as bare as possible.

Another thing about the forging outside part is that the forge furnaces were inferior to European forges so they could never get all the impurities out of the metals so they would need to reheat the metal over and over again to get out all the impurities as for european forges they had the knowledge to make stronger forges that were able get rid of most of the impurities leading to mass production for those times. So it makes even less sense why they are forging outside.
