ACCURACY UPDATE - I realised this isn't quite perfect. For the verses, you want your picking thumb to be alternating between the A string and D string - A D D / A D D / A D D / A D D / etc. Chord voicings are the same, just try it with your thumb doing a little oom pah pah type thing
@@tomcanningmusic4923 yeah, I keep coming back to it. You’re right about it being satisfying. Playing and singing at the same time is a relatively new skill I’m working on. Can’t wait till I can do my own cover. Love your version mate. It’s really helped me get the feel of it beyond just listening to the original and trying to play along with it.
@@herrievanrooy8188right now I'm just making my thumb go E / A / A / A, while my index and middle stay on the G and B string. seems to work tho I'm not sure it's what he does in the tutorial. edit: in the official visualizer it sounds like vessel returns to the verses' picking pattern while keeping the thumb rooted to one string, at least after the "to remember what they did before" part. at the end of the prechorus (on the B shape chord), move your fourth finger up one fret. hope this is closer to being accurate :3 LAST EDIT: I was sorta right. Chris Crowley's recording of a live performance does a good job at showing Vessel's picking pattern and chord shapes tho if u wanna check it out. Hey bro I fucking love this video. I've been using this to cover the song and it's sounding great I wanted to ask if you'd be able to transcribe the chord progression in the love you want as well. Thanks!
@@tomcanningmusic4923 As far as I know and Im no expert but from tabs, ear and seeing them live its safe to assume its drop E as low as drop A (of course not the ush but an oct lower)
@@tomcanningmusic4923 I see your point now fella, Im glad theres other critical thinkers out there that can still have a discussion a a subject like civilized adults :D Keep it up! Also question for you, do you think that Vessel writes everything (perhaps not the drums) in ST since the beginning?
@@ForLorNVuLgaR Personally I think it's a collaborative effort. Given the quality of musicians he has around him, I can only see it being a team thing, but who knows!

hey I noticed smth - isnt he playing the open b string for the last strum on the third chord of the verse?
Thanks for this! Now I can depress myself instead of relying on the song to do it.
i'm not saying that's why i learnt it, but.... 🤣
Or, you can think of it as catharsis for times you’re already battling depression. 🫶 Like the last eight months, for instance.

Holy that tone is is impeccable!
thanks man! squier strat doing it's best hahaha
When u started signing I started to cry. You sing incredibly well and this song is such a beautiful music. Love on you bro ❤️
Ah thank you! Might do a full cover of it soon 😄
ruclips.net/video/Qqy9jqUYRfQ/видео.html finally did it hahaha took me a while
your tone is heavenly
Love how you casually break your index finger after saying the fourth cord is a little weird😂 but great tutorial thank you!
Brilliant! And no crazy tuning or using two guitar parts. Thank you for your efforts. Learning this tonight.
Great quick lesson, thank you. Ive been wanting to learn this song a few months now but i guess I was looking in the wrong places 😂
Thanks for this breakdown mate. Such a lovely song. I’ve watched a couple of times and can almost play it now.
Happy to help! It's an awkward one to play at first, satisfying once you get it down though.

Thank you so much for doing this. The other versions of this were very wrong lol
You should do the cover too! Wouldn't mind playing along with you to learn it

@@tomcanningmusic4923 just watched it!!! awesome job! i want to cover it too but slacking sooo badly. dont think ill be able to beat yours though
Your voice is lovely ❤
Perfect! I've been looking for this for awhile
glad I could help out!
@@tomcanningmusic4923 do you know what the time signature is? I'm trying to record this now as well
legendddd
spot on pal :D 10/10
FERB…. I know what we’re gonna do today
Thank you for the excellent course!
Absolutely perfect. Thank you so much
thank you groundhog
This is incredible! Good job mate!
Beautiful!
Any further detail on the picking pattern of the chorus of the song? I’m having trouble figuring out what you’re doing
Nice work man👍thx for your video!
Sounds great, cheers m8!!
Hm im kinda confused when you said to flatten your index to an A. My guitar doesnt make the strumming sound yours dose when i do that.
no one knows and I've acceted that now. You have a lovely voice btw
Thank you!
Thanx 👍
Tone is beautiful, what are you using?
Thanks! I'm using a squier affinity strat into the free version of the AmpLion sim, with a bit of compression and reverb added
are you ever gonna do an instrumental of this song? 🤧
Is anyone struggling to understand how the picking is for the pre-chorus? Ive watched it back at 0.25× speed but i just dont understand
Yeah I'm lost, have you figured it out yet?
@herrievanrooy8188 when I play it myself, I believe I just keep the same sort of pattern the entire way through.

hey man sorry I'm like a year late replying to this! I love that song but unfortunately I don't read music so transcribing isn't something I can do 😅
Do u think this would work with an acoustic 😅
Yep, it's exactly the same on an acoustic. Only used electric because I was too lazy to get the acoustic out of its case 😂
I love st pal… but I’m sorry to say that they def not play in standard tuning…
what tuning is it meant to be in mate? couldn't figure it out in anything other than standard
