Great cover of one of my favourites, just wondering is a licence required to do a cover like this and then sell the song? As I'm thinking about doing a cover like you and then selling it. Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Hi there. If you want to sell a cover, let's say for example a CD/Vinyl etc. you have to pay royalties to ASCAP or GEMA or anybody else. Depends on which country live in. You don't get your CDs etc delivered from the pressing company until you have a release from one of these companies. Streaming Platforms are much easier. You upload a cover and you have to fill out the information about songwriter. They automatically pay the royalties when billing. Means, you just don't get 100% payout...hope that helps
