    This song was a diss for Mtume who said at the time that rap was a fad and sampling was lazy. Stetsasonic made their point, and even today it stays true.

    This song was based off a radio discussion James Mtume was having on his local show . Daddy-O failed to listen to the rest of the interview , and thought Mtume was dissing rappers who sampled . Ironically , they sample the drum beat from " JuicyFruit "

      There’s nothing wrong with sampling and introducing a new generation to old school music that soul; however, pay them for using it. Yes I know about the record companies and contracts; those older artists can renegotiate: if they haven’t already to get what’s rightfully theirs.
