Yoshiki is from X Japan (a metal band). He wrote and composed this song as their first ballad. They released it in 1989. This became their signature song. Taehyun and Kai chose to be styled as those in X Japan, so that is probably why Taehyun is wearing just 1 glove and Kai has the hair streaks/highlights. They were amazing. They took this opportunity to showcase how their vocals have improved after touring. They were very honored to perform this song with Yoshiki.

You asked why they are singing to the side, and all I know is that it's a singing technique. I usually try to scope out vocal coaches on here that explain that stuff......but I've yet to find someone explain this video.
Check out the original Endless Rain from X Japan, MV and live performance. Another suggestion is Kurenai in live performance. Original speed metal from 90s or the revised version with violin & piano intro in 2000s. 😊 Hope you like X Japan's performance.

I have also looked at some vocal coaches but as you say, no one has said anything about it yet. But thanks for the info! :)
Its to get higher notes, or at least stabler. Something to do with your throat i think but im not certain, heard something about this when i was 7😂😅
