Thanks so much for rescuing her. Cockatoos are very intelligent and they need a lot of attention and interaction.

Animals that were stressed come out of their shells so much faster and bloom so much more when they get a chance to recover with their own kind.

So true, my last bunny was so afraid when I got her and through seeing how her partner behaved with me and their surroundings, she gradually learned to trust. Shortly before her death she even learned that it was okay to take her food from my hand. It's incredible how trusting she got in the end.

Umbrella Cockatoos are the most rehomed, or in sanctuary. It's so sad and it's even more upsetting that people are still breeding them. So glad you were able to make room for Sarah, she needs love and a stable home, and you are giving her exactly that.
    Thank you!❤️👍
Note: maybe check out Marlene McCohen here in RUclips, she rescued an umbrella named Jersey, she makes these adorable outfits from socks that keep her baby nice and warm, and of course a fashionista, lol.

Sara must be so happy to have a flock again. I used the same logic on my one feral brother cat. Now he competes for my attention with everyone else.

The previous caretaker did a good deed to get Sara out of a bad situation immediately. Even more, though, was that he recognized the limits of his care when she was not making progress...and he looked for better options than he could provide.
That takes maturity and the ability to truly want what's best for another being. Kudos to him for that, too.❤
And now Saea is home with a family who could "reach" her and where she has blossomed. Love this!! ❤️

🌴 there are so many great birds that need a really good and forever home , I just rehomed a 40 yr old African grey from a lady with health issues, the bird has a vocabulary of over 50 words , plus whistles, she knows the Andy of Mayberry Theme , ( but mess’s it up 😆) and is sooo intelligent , when I walk in she says hello and when I leave she says bye bye , people really under estimate their intelligence and compassion, it’s a shame Sarah’s feathers won’t come back she a beautiful bird .

Thank you so much for featuring us and creating this wonderful heartwarming video! Sara just ate kale for the first time yesterday (after offering it to her at least 8 times). It's a process to get her to trust us, but she definitely watches Misha and Boo and copies what they do. Last July, I was not wanting another cockatoo, but I am so glad that things happened the way they did (I gave my fish tank to a disabled veteran friend). 💕

Isn't it so sad that these beautiful birds display the same ptsd trauma we do by pulling their feathers. It fills me with despair that we inflict this upon them for our own vanity - rather like designer dogs who can't breathe.

All cockatoos bite. They don't know skin isn't the same as feathers. They bite each other and it's not traumatic because feathers slide out of beaks whereas skin doesn't.

One of my good friends got an African grey parrot and for some reason that bird goes nuts when I walk in the door. He will sit on my shoulder the whole time I am there. I have never been a bird person but I have developed a very strong bond with this bird.
