Bhagavata Purana is one of the eighteen Puranas of Hindus. It is also called Shrimad Bhagwatam or simply Bhagwatam. Its main subject is Bhakti Yoga, in which Krishna is depicted as the God of all gods or God himself. Apart from this, the devotion of Rasa Bhaav has also been described in this Purana. Traditionally, Ved Vyas is considered to be the author of this Purana.
With the inspiration of Narad ji, Ved Vyas ji wrote the Shrimad Bhagwat Granth. There are 335 chapters in Shrimad Bhagwat. This is the best Purana written by Vyas ji out of the 18 Puranas. There are 18 thousand verses, 335 chapters and 12 chapters in Shrimad Bhagwat Katha.
Like other Puranas, Shrimad Bhagwat is written by Sage Veda Vyasa. Sage Shukdev Ji, who was the son of Veda Vyasa, narrated Shrimad Bhagwat to King Parikshit, who was cursed by Sage Shrungi to be killed by the Takshak snake in 7 days.
