I love how V1's voice is collectively agreed to be the oldest computer generated voice in existence, it really fits his character being an "older" model
It wasn't really a "collective" decision since Gianni put it out there in the first place with some of his early shitposts but we _have_ taken quite well to it

Level 2-S is one of the reasons I love Indie games. It's like the dev had some crazy existential shower thought and decided to dump it all into the game. You would never get away with doing this in something developed by a massive studio.
Hakita actually experienced these thoughts himself back then, and decided to create this masterpiece of a story

I don’t know why the funny robot game where you fight funny rocks has a beautiful secret cutscene about the existential nature of our existence, I know even less why I moved me, even even less how this isn’t the only thing in its story to move me, but that’s why ultrakill is easily my favorite game. It does that while fostering a talented community.
Take this with a pinch of salt since i havent looked this up but i think hakita (the dev of Ultrakill) has said somewhere that he wrote this scene as if he was talking to a past version of himself, when he was in a worse place mentally. Really love how real it makes the scene feel.
The same happened to me, I think the timing for it's release helped it a lot too, we were at least one year into the pandemic, and at least for me, it damaged my already low social and mental state, I also had quite a nihilistic view of the world at the time, but this level genuinely helped me, at first I didn't understand it much, but after some time, and realizing what was the problem, I did, and I consider it one of the first steps to change my life for the better.
I still can't believe that of all games or media, the silly blue robot shooting game was the one to do that.
I had come to a similar understanding after feeling the same things for a little while some time ago, but this definitely articulated he idea much better than I ever could.
A silly little robot killing others game based on my religion being better than most of the FPS I have played shock my mind.
I love how in this level, rather than leaving you in that nihilistic position, they pull you back up at the end even higher. I read a manga where you're favorite characters seem very important until they're swatted like flies.
I love how a dating joke in a fps video game helped me view life in a different lense

Thank you for putting the time and effort for this video, can’t imagine how long this took to animate and render, but, it certainly paid off. With the light heartiness of memes, there are times we think of the grim fate that awaits us in the future.
I enjoyed this video a lot, with the cracks of light splitting and breaking Mirage’s glass dome of her fear and apathy. And with V1 (and the player) suddenly breaking inside, giving hope to what seems forever for her… it feels so good to get that weight off your chest.

I can't believe this game manages to use elements from 4 of my hyperfixations all at once. Ultrakill, JoJo's, Risk of Rain, and Guilty gear.
I honestly didn't expect the ending, thought that after V1 got punched after saying that Mirage is paying for lunch, that it would fade to black before fading back in and V1 is falling down into the next level, not prepared, falling on his back, not mentality prepared to go back to killing after all that and just laying on the floor for a awhile trying to process what just happened

I just love it. Using con lentitud poderosa was a stroke of genius, it fits perfectly the scene. Your animation is smooth, the effects are incredible, and the choice of the glados voice for mirage is perfect. I love the wink at Jojo, the black box scene with v1 tearing it down... Man, the original "scene" already went hard with 2d sprites on a black background, but you made it even better.

Even though the message of this video is adapted from an existing piece of media, the addition and combination of visuals and music enhance it greatly while making it more digestible than booting up the game or looking up a playthrough.

It's always at a point where my depression hits me hard, and it's always a good way to tell my brain "Hey, shut up, we're making some progress, we'll make more tomorrow. This is the absolute best Ultrakill video I've seen!
The music choice is perfect, the visual story telling is so fucking good, and the jojo references are on point as well. This is actually just peak. It's such a wholesome and important message as well. I only watch stuff the community makes instead of playing the game myself, so I never played the level either and thought that it's just a dating sim. This wouldn't have reached me without your animation.
While I thankfully never had to deal with an existential crisis in my life, so far at least, I always liked this secret level a lot, and yes, it is in part because of Mirage, but shush. Seeing it really nicely animated in 3D, with references to JoJo and music from Risk of Rain... as soon as RUclips recommended the video to me I figured it's gonna be great, but this blew my expectations out of the water. I can wholeheartedly say great work
