I used to have that same guitar! I loved that thing,,, it would stay in tune and I mean after hours of very aggressive playing. The only things that wasn't stock on it (i kept the original parts) was the tuners and I put a bad ass bridge on it. I lost it along with every guitar and amp I owned in a tornado,,,,z man I miss that thing!
I slammed 2 Humbuckers in mine and also a tune-o-matic setup and a set of schallers. I've had it since 73 paid $125. Still my main gig guitar...It's like a portable Les Paul. Folks always are coming up asking about it...nobody has a clue....but are blown away with the tone.
My friend we can talk to the end of time about guitars OK I have had great Gibsons till they come out of my ears, sold them on because of financial issues and 🤔 bought them back I’m pleased to say…. My main guitar today with a few upgrades is an Epiphone Les Paul junior 🙈 it’s insane and cheap. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
It has that sort of a fender twang play roxan on it verses the telecasater sound n itd be pretty close. But there are other sounds rockn roll to to jazzy ones. basically it was designed for as a starter guitar but Ive seen a lot of famous people use them as well cuz their light and feel good, usually the single pickups either melody maker single coil or les paul junior double coil not quite a humbucker. N look at ac/dc they mostly use single humbucker not sure the guitar they use with one pickup removed same principle just a simple guitar. Not Angus an SG but his brother. And they got smaller hands like say a younger person might have not everybody has gargantuan hands to play them chords you gotta stretch for G-9's or 13's
Honestly I got two squire strat copie 2 single n 1 double coil Im perfectly happy with as a hobbie'est I dont wanna pay the big buxcks either if I want a les paul Ill buy a kit guitar and put it together myself thats a good experience to how I want it its the sound of them humbuckers Im after not the looks.
Love it. Like the Trogly T also. I should have bought a Melody Maker 10 years ago when they were 500 dollars.

4:28 Nice sneaky little 5/4 bar at the end of a 12 bar!
With Curtis Novak MM pickups... Fuck yes it can.
Excellent video my friend.
Thank you kindly! I'm new to making RUclips videos. I hope you stick around!
@@Joey_McElroy I thought it was an exceptional first video my brother. I'm subscribed so I am a long for the ride.

Good playing, Joey! What is your signal chain here?
Is the fretboards on any of the melody makers brazillian rosewood? I keep seeing rosewood on descriptions.

I have a 62 single but someone put a hotter pickup in it it sounds awesome
What kind of pickup? Curious if it’s possible to get a full size p90 in it.. like the ones that go in Juniors
@@RussC123 I wouldn’t route the body out not sure what brand
Can you tell exactly what are the pick ups ?
They are the stock Gibson single coil from the 60's.
