Grazie mille
The diagram in the manual is confusing. Looking into the female RS232 connector on the front panel, left-to-right, you have +V, GND, LX200 TX1, LX200 TX2, LX200 RX1, LX200 RX2.
Hey mate I am battling an old LX200 10 inch I just picked up and having no luck, what is the software you used to get it moving? I have tried writing the BASIC code but I am no programmer. Any help would be much appreciated. Cheers
@clearlinetechnologycorp.5974 thanks for your reply i have tried stellarium and can not get it to connect at all. Usung some random software to send commands and bridging pin 2+3 on the cable shows the cable works as i can send and receive back what i sent but scope doesent do anything. I am usibg a converter too so might try to find an ancient pc with a rs232 port. I will try to find an oscilloscope and follow your guide too. Cheers
@@StompAE86 Make sure your converter outputs actual RS232-level signals to the telescope, they are not the same as 5v logic levels. The loopback test will not uncover this.
I have an issue where when I simply plug in my AC adapter, I get noise on my serial lines. Telescope isn't even powered on. I also do not see that I have rs232 signals on the wires coming from the telescope. Everything else seems to be working fine. AC adapter is plugged into a line conditioner. No noise visible on DC 18v at that point.
Nice video. Thanks.
Is there a video yet for rs232 chip replacement?
Not from us yet. But it would be a straight IC - replacement similar to the L2724 replacement in that video.

@@robertoventurelli7602 I'm sorry, but I am not familiar with the ASIair, nor your cable, so I can not advise you.
Very helpful, Thank You very much. I use it on diametral ac source but I have problem with MAX232CPE too
Glad it helped

It's our own test software, but you should be able to use most planetarium programs like Sky Safari or Stellarium. They talk to the LX200.
