I’m on the fence with this one Jake. I love the Froning 11, but watching Joel’s review on the F12 I’m concerned with lateral stability and heel slip. It seems that you didn’t have either of those issues. Thank you again for mentioning the rope climbing issue. I don’t remember if I told you but I had a very short amount of time with Rich at the Games this year and FORGOT to ask him about this issue. Ugh. Gives me an excuse to do a “Train With Rich” camp. Lol. Cheers buddy.
I mention those two issues in my written review. IMO, if you can’t find em’ on sale or want them solely for the novelty, I’d pass on them. They’re okay, but for the price….eh.
@@thatfitfriend Will do. I think all shoes have durability issues with rope climbs, especially the ones that stick to the rope more and depending on how you climb.
Get the feeling this is the last Reebok x Froning collaboration with him stepping back from competing and they’ve gone through the motions a bit without putting too much into it.
That’s exactly what I was thinking, too. Curious to see what ends up happening for future years and if Rich will stay or if Reebok will continue to bring on different high caliber athletes.
I have to disagree. Rich's Brand is so strong it will be beneficial for Reebok to associate for years to come. And, being blessed with being able to spend a very short amount of time with Rich at the Games this year I believe nothing comes out with his name that he hasn't been heavily involved with. Unfortunately I didn't ask him about the rope climb issue.
Great first impression vid! Made me get the black/cherry froning x2. I have the forefoot “pooch” as well when I tighten the laces but I find not as prevalent perhaps the black hides it better. Aesthetically it’s not them most pleasing but it’s minimal on the black ones. I prefer these over the regular x2. Might have to pick up the white ones if they ever go on sale.
All white Crocs in 4x4 mode. The Nike Metcon 4 is one of my favorite trainers of all time, and lately, I've really been digging the RAD ONE and TYR CXT-1 Trainer.
@@thatfitfriend you're dressed as if you're in mid summer 😂 though it's quite understandable considering the physical activity and your muscular mass that helps staying warm
Pretty disappointed with the Froning X1’s. I thought with the laces, we could correct some of the stability issues around the ankle. The Froning x2’s we’re just as bad for me. They need another hole for the laces at the top of the shoe. My ankles and heels were all over the place, sadly. I returned them and got two regular X2’s for the same price. I feel much more stable, grounded, and confident in the performance of the shoe
@@thatfitfriend A wide flexible forefoot with some arch support and heel support. The Nano 9s felt much more rigid. My training is mostly CrossFit/ Globogym lifting. Some comfort for daily wear would be nice as I walk to the gym.
I program them bi-weekly because I genuinely enjoy them. I know they’re a small percentage of most folks’ training, though. Tbh, I wouldn’t focus on them that much with this model had Reebok not slapped “ROPEPRO” on it. It’s a little misleading, honestly because it gives me the impression they should work at least okay for some climbing. Even if you’re climbing once a month, if you have a $130+ shoe that breaks after a handful of climbs, then that’s pretty whack, IMO.
Depends how I’m training and what the workout asks are! They’re a fine shoe, just not my go-to atm. Have a bunch of round-ups covering models I’d take over these
Wasn't a fan of the Nano X2, and the X2 Froning looks like it would be a downgrade for my purposes. (Definitely need more heel support.) As always, appreciate the great review. Still patiently awaiting the arrival of my CXT-1 trainers, as well as my new R.A.D.s, that dropped yesterday. 😁
R.A.D. sure has our number... just dropping new colorways of the same shoe, and selling out every time. Wonder if we'll ever get a 2.0? I pre-ordered the black & gold CXT-1's. Think they're supposed to arrive, early November. Can't wait.
New Grey & Black R.A.D.s have arrived. They're my favorite colorway thus far. Curious if you're going to test the new UA SlipSpeed? Not sure about the BOA lacing system on a training shoe? It also looks like they convert into Crocs! 😆
@@capt1941 man…I’m glad you messaged me. I freaking ripped mine playing pickleball yesterday. First time wearing them and I dove for a dig and tore the medial toe box 😂 Feels bad man. I might 💪
Yeah, I find that it just doesn't have that "wow" factor to justify an additional $10 USD over the normal model. The Adventure I can get behind because it's different enough, but the Froning's performance has been lackluster thus far and I like my normie model better, tbh.
They run a bit long for some athletes/lifters. I wear these TTS. However, I think if you're nervous about length or have about a .5 inch of room or more in your *current shoes*, then you should size down a half size to play it safe.

This might be the last Nano I'll buy (only because I'm a big Froning fan)
Gonna switch over and try the TYR CXT1.
Fair! Def keep me posted on the TYR model. Keen on your thoughts since the Nanos typically hit for you 🤝

@@mattpeters6224 that’s a good point. I suppose it’s similar to MF and Nike how they still have the 8 despite not competing this year 🤔

Never got the nano x1 but I love my nano x. How would you compare sizing ?
Nano X1 and X2 generalllllly are best going down a half size compared to the X. If you have a wider foot, then go TTS in those models!
How often you do/others rope climb? At my box, it’s maybe once a month. Probably less. Just wondering as most reviewers have a bit of a focus on them
