- We arrive to Seychelles! So happy and exhausted after countless days of motoring... No marina, warnings of petty crime, but so beautiful!!! And the joys of reuniting with our friends on Zatara and Rehua in awesome surroundings...
We are in the search of this cool bar - which apparently everyone knows about, but so hard to find! And STUNNING beaches....
Until then... it's time to refuel Aquarius, and pay the price.... After motoring across the Indian Ocean for a few hundred hours, it just happens that the Seychelles has the most expensive fuel places that we ever paid... Ouch!

this is really spooky.. I stumble across this video fair enough my paintings are displayed in a restaurant at delplace...as i continue to watch at Anse Royale beach there I was siting on the beach and another shot of my wife and daughter in another frame. What in a million chance that to happen. lol

Hey Aquarius! Nice video and great to see you guys back out sailing after such a long break. On Amel Sailing Island Pearl we had to miss Seychelles after The Maldives in order to take in Chagos, Rodrigues, Mauritius, La Reunion, and Madagascar which was a tough choice indeed, so we will simply have to fly in there sometime later to see it from the land. We completed our circumnavigation in Brisbane and sold the boat in order to work again for the next 5 years to be able to cruise again down the track. Safe travels onwards and hope you get to see Madagascar (Nosey Be) which was stunning whilst we were there. Colin Sailing Island Pearl
Hi, We may go down to Madagascar, or we may go up through the Red Sea. Impossible to make decisions due to the covid restrictions that still ongoing. I think Madagascar is still closed at this time, so going South from Zanzibar might be a bit more challenging. So, it's all wait and see... We are planning to go to Tanzania next, and that's as far as the plan goes. All the best, and congrats on the completed Circumnavigation! Ken

Yes, it's beautiful here in the Seychelles. But, to be honest, it is rare to burn that much fuel... So, all it good! Time to relax and have soda water..... mmmm
Me, a central European: "Yeah, that price though. Lower than beginning of the year here. Now it's about 1.5× that here."

Love Seychelles such a special group of islands. £1000 deposit on car rental normal there!
There was one car company requiring it... But the other had no deposit. So, we went with the no-deposit company!

LOL $1,6 per liter is 'cheap' compared to the Netherlands. At this moment ( april '22) prices are some €2,-- per liter ($2,20) at roadstations (for cars). At marina's it is some €2,40 ($2,60) per liter.
Well, we are glad we are in the Seychelles then... :)

Did i hear right that a yacht got boarded by thieves next to Eden Island?
Yes, one of the boats got boarded, and the would-be thief was scared off by the owner. Scary, but no one was hurt, and nothing stolen. The only thing that was damaged was the boat owners vocal cords. He couldn't talk for a few days. :). A happy ending to what could have been much heart ache. We heard from several people that petty theft happens fairly often around Eden Marina. Best, Ken

One of our friends was boarded about 10 days ago. But, we have not experienced anything on Aquarius. All good here! Ken

I have never seen a 50lb coconut, but, I have seen trees with over 50 coconuts here in the Seychelles. If you like coconut, this is the place to be. Best, Ken
Did sailing Zatara get boarded ? Couldn’t tell from that view, not a nice experience for who ever it was!
No, our friends on Rehua was boarded by a thief at 4AM. Yeah, not nice! Fair Winds!!
New to your channel, but follow many others. I have a question, why do all you guys (larger sail boats on longer ocean crossings) feel that you have to motor, is it so bad to just wait for wind for a few days, or did you have a time scale that you have NOT mentioned , apart from weather windows that you HAD to make the Seychelles. You are after all a sail boat????.Just very curious.
Wind, current, weather systems, forecasts, and yes comfort of the crew... Usually the decision to motor is an easy one. There are times, at the end of a sailing season... if you don't make it by x date, you might not make it. But there are entire books written to answer your question. Fair Winds

Boarded it means when thieves (or someone else) comes aboard your boat. When authorities comes aboard it’s also called boarded.

Sometimes... It just make sense to run the engine.. Sorry we are not "real" sailors by your definition.
Ken, did you say that your icom 706 SSB Radio transmits on both Ham bands and the standard HF Marine bands ?

You should have a HAM license. But if you do, buy any 706MKIIG on EBAY, and do the MARS mod. I hear there are some frequencies that will break it if you try to transmit so beware. Thanks,

Sail power cost nothing... Maybe u are in a rush to go there?
Having the sails out in too little wind, rocking back and forth in the waves... The cost - Wear and tear on the sails and rig. A new set of sails for Aquarius is about $18000, and new standing rigging is about $13000. But in the end you're correct, we could have slowed down a few days and saved a lot of fuel. Best, Ken
