  • In this video, we communicate the importance of purchase orders from 3D building projects and how to effectively manage construction costs.
This video talks about why all residential home builders should use purchase orders and the best way to create and produce purchase orders; Andrew Dwight demonstrates how & why purchase orders are essential to keep builders organised.
When a purchase order is attached to an Invoice
It's easy to see cost overruns and, more importantly
rectify them for the next project.
This video also shows how a builder can view and quantify an architect's or building designer's 3D model for a preliminary feasibility study on a proposed project.
Quantify a 3D model & create Purchase orders for material & Labour costs.
    Let's take a look at a 3D estimating tool.
3 reasons Builders bundle items instead of creating purchase orders are:
    1. Not enough time was allowed to quote accurately
    2. Distractions whilst quoting
    3. Not precisely sure what's involved in the smaller tasks
Andrew shows how items drawn in a PlusDesignBuild 3D BIM automatically quantify & populate Purchases orders for Materials & Labour.
    PlusDesignBuild will save & Remember:
*Suppliers & subs associated with products and stages
*Recipes / Equations *Ancillaries & contingency associated with products
*$ Purchase price Per Unit of Measure associated with products
*$ Installation cost Per Unit of Measure associated with products
For every material chosen in our pre-populated library or created materials by you.
When a purchase order is attached to an Invoice
It's easy to see cost overruns and, more importantly
RECTIFY or edit your recipes it for the next project.
    Note:
cost codes can only be imported into PlusDesignBuild

    Andrew, Great as usual.
I need to get my head around the renovation/ adaptation methods with Plus Design Build, this would save a lot of time .....

Hi Mark I will do a video when I get spare moment. Are you having trouble with plan creation, estimating or visualisation, or is roof, wall & slab connections? You can also book training via the office if that helps?

I've been using sketchup for the past 18 years purely for conceptualization.
The past 2 months was scheduled for our transition to BIM. And now I see this. We need to reconsider our options. This is BIM.

This is BIM on steroids; we call it Virtual Construction as it is ten steps further forward than "Traditional BIM". Revit and ArchiCad cannot do what PlusDesignBUild or PlusArchitect do, and if you are already a Sketchup user you'll hit the ground runing

Thanks Andrew for the plug! Although this was a conceptual design it was very easy to work through the design ‘lining up 2nd floor with 1st floor’ etc. Basically using Plusspec D&B to ‘virtually construct’ the building. I also like to run a high level take off of quantities for my clients to understand where costs would or could impact their budget.

Hi, I'm considering buying your software, love what I'm seeing so far. I build tiny houses in the US and am wondering whether units of measurement and other general settings can be changed to suit the building industry in the US as opposed to Australia. Love Aussies for sure, but I would definitely be lost in the metric system. And I'm assuming the suppliers, costs, standard lumber sizes, etc can all be customized? Thanks.

@dal288859 Yes, when you download PlusDesignBuild or PlusArchitect in the USA, it will automatically change to imperial, or you can have it automatically use your Sketchup template settings. We have several tiny home builders using the software. I suggest using the BIM tool to create your wheel, axles, springs and use the beam tool to create your subframe. I look forward to seeing your work; maybe add a hello note on the PlusSpec forum. forum.plusspec.com/
