Officials visit China-built infrastructure projects in Kenya

- Top government representatives from the Chinese embassy in Kenya, the Kenyan foreign ministry, and more than 20 ambassadors from African nations gathered to start a tour of vital infrastructure that China has assisted in constructing in Kenya. They included the Standard Gauge Railway,the Nairobi Expressway, and the Kipevu oil terminus in Mombasa.

@@pablocharlieEvery country has debt. I don’t see anything wrong about Kenya working with China and then using IMF. Kenya is a lower middle class economy and not the same as in advanced developed nation. Kenya remains as the biggest economy in East Africa with a strong bilateral relation with many other nations.

Kenyan leaders negotiated a terrible deal for the country, Kenya ended up with outdated trains and expensive trucks while corrupt leaders filled their pockets with Kenyans footing the bill. Good projects though.

@@pablocharlie we have more debt than China by far but because we own IMF and World bank everything is swept under the rug.
Debt itself is not bad. Borrowing to build infrastructure so a country like Kenya can start to grow is fundamentally different from borrowing to buy a TV so you can sit on the sofa to do nothing. It depends on what you borrow the money for. Here in US we borrow to pay interest of our debt, meanwhile the road bridge and subway remain in tatters.
USA also has a 32 trillion dollar debt owing china 1.7 trillion dollars 😂
