Chinese can build infrastructures on time, on budget and at a fraction of the cost compares to western countries, Elon Musk said; "Chinese can build infrastructures 100 times faster than American."
Baidu Mel, super agree bro! For example, California High-Speed Rail from LA to SF, 840km (520mi), approved in 2008, will operate in 2033 (about 25 years), original budget was $77.1B, in the future will be $98.1B! If China takes this project, the cost almost one-third of the current budget and can be done within 10 years! China's high speed rail with a maximum speed of 350 km/h has a typical infrastructure unit cost of about US$ 17-21m per km, with a high ratio of viaducts and tunnels, as compared with US$25-39 m per km in Europe and as high as US$ 56m per km currently estimated in California. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/California_High-Speed_Rail

Nowadays everywhere in Africa we are being told by those who enslaved and colonized African people that the Chinese are our new colonizers. Although, like all other governments, the Chinese government has its own domestic problems and faces challenges in the areas of human rights and civil liberties, I like this Chinese focus on infrastructure development assistance in Africa such as the construction of an extensive railway system in East Africa. This will enable our countries to expand trade within their borders and between our countries. Most European countries who colonized many of our mineral-rich countries failed to do this over centuries of enslavement and colonization. In this regard, a good example is the extremely mineral-rich country like Congo, Kinshasa with little internal infrastructure development after several decades of colonization, post-colonial Mobutu Sese Seko's dictatorial rule, and presence of the United Nations "peace-keeping" forces that cost billions of dollars to maintain. The United States leaders (the CIA to be specific) conspired with the Belgians to get Patrice Lumumba killed with the help of Mobutu and Katanga secessionist rebels and to impose Mobutu’s dictatorship on the Congolese people. Now they often try to accuse us in Africa for being responsible for dictators like Mobutu. In a nutshell, this shows that certain American and European leaders hypocritically pretend to be against dictators in Africa especially if they work against them. But then, as in the Mobutu case, they not only support dictatorships, they also help to bring them to power and impose them on the African people if such leaders work for and promote Western interests while they enrich themselves at the expense of their citizens. What should be emphasized is the fact that with regard to relations with both the Chinese and Western governments, our African leaders should borrow strategically from any quarter and avoid doing it excessively to avoid making it hard for our countries to repay debts in the future.

The $3.3 billion U.S. Mombasa-Nairobi SGR has been a boon for Kenya. Or has it? Here are some facts that may be revelation for the more inquisitive among you: KPA has a contractual obligation to ship via the SGR. More time is spent clearing goods at the congested Nairobi train depot. Transportation costs to importers shot up 50% when they used the rail due to extra fees. And guess who those extra cost are going to be passed on to? Answer: the Kenyan consumer.
Luckily most of Kenyans don’t think like you. If they think like you, they would have all go back to Stone Age. The cheapest form of transport is your legs and you carry your own goods.
China cannot plug the gap of a profound lack of local innovation in Africa, using Chinese technology is a short term solution, Africa must use indigenous technology to develop their infrastructures. Whilst there is more sincerity of purpose from the Chinese in comparison to Western countries, Africa must stop being mentally lazy and start to innovate by mainly learning from the Chinese. In the 1930s China was very poor and politically unstable until chairman Mao came out with the cultural revolution, no foreigners invested in the economy it was all indigenous Chinese companies transformed China and that is why China is in the place that it is today. Why can't Africa do it without looking for outside help that comes with a high cost. To develop our vast continent the cost of development must be halved and that can only be done when local companies deal with local contracts therefore creating local employment. Innovate or perish, lack of innovation is the greatest threat to the existence of the black race. Innovation is the only solution to racism as we cannot consume ourselves into equality, me must develop, invent, build and export just like the Chinese.
Facts: the Mombasa-Nairobi SGR was completed at a cost of $ 3.3 billion U.S. 90% of that is financed by China EXIM Bank. But let me put that in terms that are more personal. The lifetime cost to be borne by each Kenyan citizen will be 6,891,068,301 KSh ( or $ 63,047,285.50 U.S. ). How many Kenyans are willing and able to personally bear such debt? For the last date available 2018 Kenya's debt-to-gdp ratio was 60.15%. With the loan for the SGR, that figure will certainly balloon to an unsustainable rate.
Why don't you ask the US to build this railway? It will be cheaper and much faster. Or maybe free? As one African said, the US gives aid and Africa gets AIDS - Always In Debt Syndrome.

There's an old adage that goes, if it's too good to be true it very likely is. It concerns me when virtually no Africans are subjecting large budget contracting and public works projects to the scrutiny they deserve. Citizens are enamored by these shiny new toys but they know virtually nothing of the financial details. Even more alarming is that many seem uninterested.
Michael Jackson made a USA for Africa video to make money for Africa and he performed the song in concert. It's called "We are the world". The United Kingdom also had Band Aid, a group of various artists singing "Do they know it's Christmas" to raise money for them The United States of America and the United Kingdom have both given billions in aid to Africa. I'm glad China is helping because Africa needs all the help they can get

In mombasaover 50000 people have lost jobs while the port is in the coast all of these jobs have moved to Naivasha so usinaimbie it has left a bad taste in our mouths

Why not just tell the African to listen to hypocrite Hilary or Pompeo on how to develop Africa? They can promise better infrastructure that they have never seen.
Very sad that Africa can't build anything for itself....we import everything and now we even import labour while 90% of Africans are unemployed... thousands of our engineering students are busy doing small scale farming and hawking ..... Government willing to pay 1billion per km to China company and pay Africa company 1 million per km for the same road....it's time Africa appreciates and supports its own products and companies
I still don't understand it too. For me if it's not build by African for Themselves. Then it is not real development for me. African can do the same work for less, also the diaspora want to help but those puppet leaders don't give them the chance. It's a real shame.

The Chinese people will ask: Why is this money not used in China? The Chinese people also want the money to stay in China to develop the economy! The Chinese people will ask: Why not let Africa continue without railroads and continue to maintain the transportation and economic model left behind by the colonialists? Why do the Chinese spend so much manpower and money in Africa so that Africa can close the gap with the world economy, and in the end the Africans call it a debt trap! Full of mistrust! Please ask for so many years. Before the Chinese came! What is your economy and the environment like? Without giving, there can be no return! You can't use the logic of beggars to explain.

@@behonestkid1456o I don't want free things. I want the Kenyan this deal to be fairer towards Kenya. They can use Kenyan workers or raw materials to start with. I don't even think it was a good idea to build a railway and leave Kenyans in debts.
@@parmenas6265 There is a slogan in China, 'if you want to be rich, build the road first'. You may not have the debt if you don't build the railway, but you can never get rich.

"CNBC" of the states tells a story of China building a a rail line in Africa. Will we ever hear the African story?!
You do realise this channel is a Chinese state-owned channel lol. It's not an American channel!
You will never ever hear the African story because China thinks like the West! The West and China think they have to speak for Africans because they know better than Africans what is good for Africans! China and the West are the 2 largest cancers in this world. Africa is just a playground for them. No wonder why we are still poor no matter the African country you're from. And we will remain poor for sure!
The $3.3 billion U.S. Mombasa-Nairobi SGR has been a boon for Kenya. Or has it? Here are some facts that may be revelation for the more inquisitive among you:
KPA has a contractual obligation to ship via the SGR.
More time is spent clearing goods at the congested Nairobi train depot.
Transportation costs to importers shot up 50% when they used the rail due to extra fees.
And guess who those extra cost are going to be passed on to? Answer: the Kenyan consumer.
should ask you for advice - i guess they are not, lol
Luckily most of Kenyans don’t think like you. If they think like you, they would have all go back to Stone Age. The cheapest form of transport is your legs and you carry your own goods.
Painting yourself "we're better for others and all-knowing" white supremacy makes the devil and most hated among all other races
This storytelling style is so CGTN
and as an african I love it.
you mean it is not run by the western fake media
China will rly close the gaps in Africa infrustructure. They do save time and money effectively.✌
Facts: the Mombasa-Nairobi SGR was completed at a cost of $ 3.3 billion
U.S. 90% of that is financed by China EXIM Bank. But let me put that in
terms that are more personal. The lifetime cost to be borne by each Kenyan
citizen will be 6,891,068,301 KSh ( or $ 63,047,285.50 U.S.
And Chiner invented the internet too !!!
Go Chiner !!
Shouldn't the water pipelines all over africa be built first?

The negative and dissatisfying comments was from KTN news Kenya. They were complaining about 5,000 Chinese in Kenya working in Kenya. I want the Kenya point of view now look back in 2021.
There's an old adage that goes, if it's too good to be true it very likely is. It concerns me when virtually no Africans are subjecting large budget contracting and public works projects to the scrutiny they deserve. Citizens are enamored by these shiny new toys but they know virtually nothing of the financial details. Even more alarming is that many seem uninterested.
these countries should ask you for advice how to run their country - i guess they are not, lol

Michael Jackson made a USA for Africa video to make money for Africa and he performed the song in concert. It's called "We are the world". The United Kingdom also had Band Aid, a group of various artists singing "Do they know it's Christmas" to raise money for them
The United States of America and the United Kingdom have both given billions in aid to Africa. I'm glad China is helping because Africa needs all the help they can get
European and America did give Billions to Africa. They give little back what thwy toke with bloodshed amd stealing.
Giving money to the dictator, isn't aid to the people. You wanna help Africa, don't interfere their politics.
this generation's achievement, benefit next generation, high speed train bring confort and convenience to people, increase industrial efficiency and productivity, cut transportation costs, promote business, improve economy, promote connectivity of people, goods, ideas and culture, promote national unification and harmonious society, lots of benefits, don't be short sighted and don't believe the hateful words of Western media, they fear, envy our achievements, some of them even make false claims to intentionally undermine Sino-Africa cooperation, the best way to protect environment is do nothing, every thing comes at the expense of other thing to some extent,we must carefully assess project's side effects and risks and balance it and improve it,if you choose to cooperate with other country instead of China, corruption won't disappear,Mainly it is not the faults of projects and Chinese, mainly it is the problem of political system, dear african friends.
In mombasaover 50000 people have lost jobs while the port is in the coast all of these jobs have moved to Naivasha so usinaimbie it has left a bad taste in our mouths
I have this warning for my African brothers and sisters: conclusions about large budget contracting and public works projects should not be rooted in short_term gratification. Actual revenue generation and financial results five years out, ten years out should be the BEGINNING of your assessment.
these countries should ask you for advice how to run their country - i guess they are not, lol
Why not just tell the African to listen to hypocrite Hilary or Pompeo on how to develop Africa? They can promise better infrastructure that they have never seen.
USA must leave Africa, CHINA you are fully welcome.
There are long-term consequences for short-term gratification

I still don't understand it too. For me if it's not build by African for Themselves. Then it is not real development for me. African can do the same work for less, also the diaspora want to help but those puppet leaders don't give them the chance. It's a real shame.

There is a saying in Chinese that " Even dragon needs help to fly into the sky" Dragons are perceived as a powerful beast in Chinese view. But even that powerful dragon need the help of some bamboo pole to fly into the sky in the first time. China is using debt trap policy in Africa, the railway built in Kenya doesn't make any economic sense since it was built next to an existing railway that was not being used to full capacity. The feasibility was done and railway built by the Chinese. Kenyans have to now pay more taxes (to pay for the loans) as this projects cannot repay themselves
Next to an existing railway.. Really. That thing that was left behind years ago that could hardly go more than 60km/h is what you call an existing railway. The debt is a lot I agree, but you cannot compare what the Chinese built to what was there before.
James Munoru Ask Texas the strategy of HUgE roads!!
So short sighted view
Are you talking about the 100 years old lunatic express? There is something called technological obsolence. That line, the engines and the carriages are past that stage.
I agree with you. Chinese citizens actually don't like working with Africa like this! Because the vast majority of loans are uncollectable! Many of the loans end up not having to be returned.
I was waiting to see the Chinese plan to procure local Kenyan products and set up companies that facilitate transfer of Kenyan goods to China.....didn't happen....Africa wake up.
@Nic, sorry to burst your bubble, I am a Kenyan living in Kenya. You must be the one kissing Chinese ass. Let me pull your head out of Chinese ass and open your mind to the big picture. The Chinese projects in Kenya are part of "Chinese silk road plan."(research for yourself). It is serving the interests of Chinese people first by opening up East Africa to consume more and more of Chinese products. Do you even know the trade imbalance between Kenya and China? In 2018 alone, we spent 380 Billion shillings buying imports from China, mean while, they only bought Ksh 0.1 billion shillings worth of goods from Kenya. Thats less that half of 1%, in the mean time they are siphoning more than 20% of our National GDP to the Chinese economy every year. Business is good only if it is fair. Open your eyes and see the big picture. Stay woke.
Learn how to walk and run on your own, and don't count on China or anyone else to do it for you. This is the best lesson you should learn from Chinese
