I am a product of an American Military Expat father and a humble mother from the province. We see the difference. I grew up knowing a lot of the offspring of the people you mentioned. Most of them have identity issues, lack moral structure, and a moral compass.

We all come into the world with nothing and we all leave with nothing!!.......It's what we do while we're here between the Dot's!!
Insecurities are everywhere even in Philippines....some OFW who just earned some money thought that they are already rich. So they will built big a house like "mansion". Just to be like other OFW earning more than they are. And forgot that they still need some money to eat, hospitalizations etc...though maybe not that much in Philippines!
FYI, power is not just about money. At least not here in Philippines. When you require something from PH institutions, be it permits, documents, banking or hospital needs, etc you will understand what that guy meant by “power”. Having a spouse, family member or even close friend in a position of power often means just having the necessary contacts to push thru layers of red tape, ambivalence and ineptitude to get the things you need. It’s not an understatement to say: if you’ve lived for anytime in Philippines, you will come to miss the lightning fast efficiency of any-town USA’s DMV or postal office.

Yes social connections obviously has its benefits. In this fellow's case though, I think he's just a McMillionaire bozo if you wanna know the truth.
Wow. That sergeant should read the Bible some time. He could learn a thing or two about humility.
