- Transplanting Osteospermum (‘African Daisy’). Spring is an ideal time in the gardening calendar to lift and move plants in your garden and I show you here how I do this. If you are unhappy with the position of anything in your garden, don’t be afraid of moving it. Plants are very tough and as long as you add some slow release fertiliser and make sure you water them well for the first week or so, they should be absolutely fine.

Hi
I'm sure you can ask the local council to trim the trees. My neighbour had four large trees similar. One day i heard the tree surgeons and they cut all of them down to the ground in a day. I had so much more light and we replaced the fence which was in a terrible state because we couldn't get to them over the years. You'll be able to choose your own plants for height and shade. All the best.
Well, I did ask the Council last Summer and they came but only took off a few branches. They were the ones which overhang into our garden so I was pleased they were gone. And they took off some to the right hand side as I look at them so now at least I have some very late afternoon sun. Maybe I should write to them again then, although probably at the moment they have a backlog of work to catch up on so I don’t suppose those trees will be a high priority, but no harm in asking 😁
